Jamal Idris joins Wests Tigers...Official...

Even if he came very cheap, I'd steer clear of him…he has attitude issues which is why he left his 2 previous clubs...

Looks like Idris going back to the dogs. Perret retiring and Curtis rona released, they have a bit of money to spend on an outside back. Might have to pay a bit more than $50k for him lol

I'd take a chance on him on some type of incentive contract that contains clauses requiring that he maintains a level of fitness and that he earns bonuses based on first grade games. He's a talent, could be a boon off the bench and might actually be motivated playing with our set of rising back line stars.

Just saw the Sterlo interview, very interesting guy. Not your typical RL player at all.
Only 26, his second coming could be good. He hits hard in defence.

He's a very likeable fella , but it's been pointed out a thousand times before … It would all come down to his fitness and his mentality IMO .

I would take him, I can guarantee that he'll make an impact wherever he goes I can just feel it.

No chance we'd be offering him a deal, we don't have the $, but if we did it's honestly a risk worth taking!

Tough one. If we could get him back near his best, wow totally worth it.

If not, it's a major bomb.

There's a reason why all the clubs are giving him a fairly wide berth, but for every Arana Taumata there is a BJ Leilua.

Needs the right coaching. Under a tough trainer t**hat has good man management** he'd go well.

He sounded like he has the right attitude but I agree with you about needing a good man manager to look after him - unfortunately not our coaches strong point.
Imagine if he went to Canberra and they had him on one side and BJ on the other
Interesting also that Jack Reed is retiring at the end of the year - Uncle Wayne is also one of the best man managers around.

I would chase Dean Whare Penrith have alot of good outside backs i dont think they can play them all and i am a big fan of Isaah Yeo plays center and second row and i think he had a few fill in games at fullback as well as on the wing

I think a better approach with him might be to avoid an authoritarian, tough training coach. He'd be a fair chance of just burning out under that sort of coach. He only needs decent fitness to get by with his natural size and talent. Good man management would be an absolute must though.

I reckon he needs more than just decent fitness, he seems to get out of shape very easily. I remember seeing that photo of him at training a few years ago with no shirt on and he had a set of norks that a Victoria's Secret model would be proud to call her own. He would need a super-strict fitness regime…...maybe sign him up along with Man Shake McDougall.
If you were guaranteed of getting him back to his best you would sign him but there are just too many ifs with Idris- he loses interest at the drop of a hat.

I'd love to see him back to his best in the centres. I'd love it even more if he was back to his best and wearing our jersey. Is the risk worth it and is the money available - maybe not.

I think the risk is worth it, I mean the money he will get in 2017 will not be much, if he goes alright we have cap space available in 2018, and I think the penny has dropped this time, he realises this is his last shot at NRL.

I think he would be worth a shot at the right price.

But you can't give him dispensation from training because of personality, if he was a proven/rep player or injury rehabbing then ok.
