Who is Shannon Ponton when he is at home?

X2

He's the trainer on 'Biggest Loser'.
Well known personal trainer.

Ah OK, don't watch reality TV. Probably know his head if I saw it though.

Thanks..my TV has a block out filter for anything that is not sport, news and current affairs or quality drama or comedy. That rules out most shows on commercial TV especially channel 9

I would of thought big Jama would have been more a Michelle Bridges kinda guy…

Am a bit worried about the fact that the training videos and photos seem to show Idris lagging behind. He is either unfit or not putting in.

I think you are reading into it too much. Jamal will be ready for the trials.

WESTS TIGERS

Jamal Idris is turning heads down in Tiger Town.
According to recently retired club staffer Dene Halatau, who played two seasons alongside Idris at the Bulldogs in 2010-11, the Tigers recruit has been in impressive nick over the first half of the pre-season.
Idris hasn’t played since early 2015 when a knee injury hastened his exit from Penrith and a subsequent round the world sabbatical.
But after officially signing on with the club in late October, Idris started fronting for training at Concord two weeks before his new teammates, having already put in the hard yards with celebrity trainer Shannon Ponton of The Biggest Loser fame.

He subsequently smashed out a personal best in a shuttle-run test on day one of pre-season at Concord.
“He was going in most days training before the first group to get himself ready for the pre-season,” Halatau told foxsports.com.au.
“He was out for a year-and-a-half so getting back to that level was always going to be hard for him to jump straight back in.
“But he’s ran some good times in the fitness tests that would’ve beaten at least half the first grade group this time last year so he’s in pretty good shape considering.”
Halatau says the 26-year-old version of Idris possesses far more focus than the “happy go lucky” teen that took Belmore by storm six years ago.
Given the impressive 2016 campaigns of Tim Simona and Kevin Naiqama in the centres, Idris may end up putting his speed and size to good use in the Tigers back-row in 2017.

We should try him in the centres first, but if that doesnt work out i have no doubt he could be anything in the backrow. Just worried about the interchange dropping and his the extra work load. However, a guy his size who can play centre would be a devastating weapon in the back row on the edge.

Maybe if Heleta or Chee Kam can stand up and grab a centrw spot, then Idris could be the strike backrower we are looking for.

Kain did say in the live feed that they wanted him to a level where he would be an 80min player. If this is the case i'd much rather him playing in the centres, and as an overall balance I think we need a genuine strike option to take some heat off Tedesco.

Yeah, an option to give Tedesco a bit of breathing space, particularly in the opposition twenty is key.
