James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

Why can't Teddy & Woods simply put us out of our misery and either state they have signed with another club or simply state that their futures lie elsewhere and will not be with the club next year ….simples!!

Does anyone know whether Its because they are in the cooling off period they actually aren't allowed to confirm they have signed until it's over? So when asked they have to deny it?

It did sound genuine when he said he hadn't decided his future yet though

Was thinking after the game, why would they want to leave,

Cleary is going to take this club a long way. As the year goes on, the more obvious it becomes, the more I think he'll begin to regret this decision.

We could so easily be 3/3 under Cleary. Our defence yesterday was the best i have seen it. Even their 2 tries we had them covered and just missed one on one tackles at the end. Brooks was finally given the reigns. It just shows what a class act Cleary is. Our future is bright under him, with or without the 3 divas.

Hard to know whats really going on

I personally think they haven't signed with anyone but may have had verbal agreements. But the Tigers pulling out and the NRL saying they wont register contracts unless the club can explain the money has thrown a spanner into how they thought it would play out.

I am probably wrong but my 2 cents

Bulldogs cant sign woods until the nrl has firm commitment they are under the cap next year. I reckon tedesco is in the COP. They take us supporters as fools.

It would be some sort of poetic justice if they both found themselves without a club for next season. Imagine having to crawl back to the WestsTigers with their tails between their legs! Won't happen, but it would be nice!
As Flip said, I would prefer both to stay, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over them moving on.

I'd like to see them both stay, but as you say it won't happen. I don't care who Moses goes to as long as it's not here. At least wel find out if I was right as to whether Brooks is much better when He runs the team like most halves.
JT playing favourites didn't help them and the club , from the top down , didn't do them any favours with itsidea that you can throw two rookies to the wolves and have two kids emerge as match winners.
Their , "don't drop for any reason , "attitudes also didn't do them any good .
I for one will be really sorry to see him go as I think that it will be a long time before we will find another one like him
Best thing on Sunday is that our defence looked like someone told them how to work together.Still needs work , but makes you wonder why Cleary can get them to work together , when others couldn't do that in over two years.
Il be watching most of the Roosters games next year as well as ours, simply because I like watching excellent players
We still at least have Nofa , and if Cleary can get him to work on his defence, he'll continue to rip it up.
Congratulations to the Whole team yesterday.

Can't believe Tedesco, disgusting
Always thought he seemed like a good kid

I think Tedesco showed his true colours when he signed for the raiders and backflipped.Pure mercenary with zero loyalty.

To me he just seems very immature ala Moylan. And not all that intelligent TBH. Seems to be the gullible, easily I influenced type that just follows what others are doing. A sheep. Would not surprise if Mummy still does all his washing for him and cooks all his meals still. That's not being condescending towards him, it is just how I picture it to be. He seems that type of young bloke to me.

i dont doubt for a second that they haven't signed elsewhere

what the deadline has done is reduced their prices even more. if they were leaving for less money, the offers from other teams will have dropped even further now considering they don't have a bargaining chip anymore.

maybe coz they haven't yet?

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but could the lack of response from the manager be that he didn't want to close the door on the tigers just yet?

Inclined to agree. Still think its a work in progress due to the two clubs involved being blatantly over the cap with these signings. Even the NRL can't turn a blind eye to these ones.

I would like to think the NRL will step in, but the roosters have been doing this kind of thing for 40 years and getting away with it

Guys I know you are trying to hold hope but they are G O N E Gone

you name one of players that the media said was a done deal, that was 100% incorrect and that they ended up staying at the team they were suppose to. and the Teddy deal doesn't count that was Pre COP

So yeah I can't find news of any player that the media announced and had been wrong about it 1 week later./

They would be correct in saying that they haven't "signed" anywhere yet because they can't, not until the Roosters and Bulldogs get rid of current players. Don't get me wrong I am sure that they have agreed on terms discussed and are leaving.

This is not the first time the NRL have done this. They have scuppered Parra/Folau and Roosters/SBW contracts before.
SBW played that season after the Roosters moved the deck chairs TPAs.

Don't forget, just because the Wests Tigers have withdrawn their contracts this pair have months to have things sorted properly by Roosters and Bulldogs.

For me the biggest question that hasn't really been answered by anyone directly is what would've kept each player here?

What is it exactly that they want?

"To know the direction the club is going and to compete for premierships" is the biggest point they've made. The club has done everything to move forward and show the direction we're heading including bringing in a brilliant coach and getting the house in order. If the board/coach/CEO/receptionist or work experience kid is really causing so many headaches like these guys lead everyone to believe, would someone come out with some hard evidence or stick your thumb in it. I honestly believe that Pascoe and Cleary will lead us into success for the long term either way.

If they didn't want to be here all they had to say was "we didn't like the plan given to us by the club in regards to the direction we're heading and have made the decision to sign elsewhere as we believe it's in our best interests." Fair enough, decision made, their contracts up and their entitled to change clubs, everyone moves on. Why does the Tigers contract dramas seem to always play out like an episode of Days Of Our Lives in comparison to other clubs? That's what I'd love to know.

Even today they're still pushing the wagon of "we don't know, we still haven't made our mind up!" and giving the media more speculation to hammer the club with for a few more weeks instead of celebrating a win. Bunch of pelicans.

If they want premierships, go out there and earn one like everyone else. Do they not realise that forcing the club into making huge offers to individuals causes the club to be unable to spread the money across the squad to complement the team as a whole?

They're supposed to be the ones out there winning games and leading the team to premierships to begin with. Sticking solid and building that dynasty like Slater, Smith and Cronk did at Melbourne, the way Johnson is trying to do for NZ, etc. Instead they took the easy way out and want the club to suffer by putting it back on the club….WELL BOYS WHAT DID THE CLUB DO THAT WAS SO BAD??? Offer the most money compared to other clubs? Support you through your entire junior careers (letting others go to show faith in you)? Support you through injuries and poor form? Poor snookums, maybe we should've tucked you into bed as well?

Tedesco is the only real game-breaker. The 4 collectively haven't been able to deliver so are making the club out as the scapegoat whether it be about the board, coaches, Robbie Farah, club direction. Get on with it and just win some games and play like you're paid.

Totally agree

The Bulldogs were only in the game because of that disgraceful attempt at tackle by Tedesco on that winger who by no means is fast. Slater, Boyd and most competent NRL fullbacks would have made that tackle which would have secured the win without the need for another try. His game yesterday was not good.

Exactly, a miserable attempt at a tackle.

To be fair to Tedesco I actually think he is close to the safest fullback in the NRL defensively. Some of his tackles over the years have been ridiculously good. He has missed a few the last couple of weeks but generally he is fantastic.

To the others…Tedesco is gone. He is lying through his teeth in the media. He may not have officially signed but he has agreed. If he was highly considering the Tigers offer he would have responded to the deadline in someway , to at least state his position. Not ignore it.

Cooling off periods can be waved..

Getting contracts registered with the NRL when Clubs are over the cap or contracts are not Cap compliant approved TPA's etc…not so much..
