James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

I'll be gobsmacked if Tedesco stays, 100/1 shot. They've had plenty of time to make up their mind, even Cleary has been here for >3 weeks now, if that was the thing they wanted to suss out.

Is THAT even a thing, though?

Interesting comment from Kent on NRL 360\. Most likely nothing but Jarryd Haynes's manager was seen in discussion with Roosters chairman, Nick Politis, yesterday.

Moses requested a longer a COP, with an option to announce it earlier (I assume that would be if he was granted an immediate release). It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but what does in Rugby League these Days?

I love it on here how people just make things up to keep the story moving along. He can't request a longer COP - its an NRL policy 10 working day cooling off period on contracts - players can waive the COP but can't request an extension - my wife gets off on Bold and Beautiful and Neighbours every day but i reckon i get the better deal spending my afternoons on here with a beer and reading this stuff - keep it coming fellas - can't wait for the episode where Teddys contract stipulates the whisperer and JT have to both be associated with the rorters before he signs.

Who knows what the thing is, right?

It's not about money apparently, we have that covered.

It's not about loyalty or junior football or family ties to the region or being a hero of the region, we have that covered too.

It might have been about Jason Taylor, maybe Tedesco would have signed on if JT stayed. He had good things to say, we won't know if that was just lip service. But if Tedesco had concerns about the direction the Tigers were going and if we'd play regular finals football, surely when JT got axed Tigers would have talked to Tedesco and told him about their plan, to sign Cleary etc.

So Tedesco had not signed elsewhere (reportedly) when Cleary was signed and brought in, so he's had time to experience the new vision and coaching style. So obviously he doesn't rate Cleary, because if he had issues about stability and club direction, well you'd think he'd give the new guy a chance. But by all reports he's jumped ship within 1-2 weeks of that coach change.

Maybe he just always wanted to leave and it's taken this long to find clubs willing to pony up the kind of cash Tigers were offering.

We don't know anything about behind the scenes, but facts are Tigers are 2-1 since Cleary joined and 2/3 of our wins since he joined. The Parramatta game should have been won, it really should have been undefeated since Cleary joined. There's been a clear turn-around at the club, some key players have re-signed, Cleary presents well and is winning over the fans.

So if that isn't a positive turn-around, and honestly quite a rapid one, under the circumstances, then I don't know what is. Maybe it's become evident that for Tigers to sign the kinds of players to really turn the club culture around, we need the kind of money Tedesco and Woods absorb, and these new plans are only really possible with them moving on.

Longer COP is easy.

Say i sign with Parra but ask for 20 days cooling off. Parra say ok, we wont lodge the contract for another 10 days. Once lodged, u have a further 10 days to think. Hence 20 days COP

Anything is negotiable.

Yep. I would have thought you could insert an additional condition precedent.

Why would a club agree to an extended COP?

Because a player may insist upon it or otherwise not sign at all. Like any contractual term that one party wants.

But why would any club risk breaking not just an NRL rule but contract law - your suggesting a club will sign a contract and forward date it when it suits them.

I reckon it could be about getting free food booze latte's clothes petrol women and smokes for life…something the illuminate Rorters can offer their players that Clubs like Wests Tigers can't...

We have an Ivan but even he can't force Tedesco to sign...

I think Ted will stay TBH.

After seeing McQueen, Matulino, Reynolds commit he must see this club is heading in the right direction. A few more signings and we will have a great roster.

He better not backflip to the dogs though. Be super pissed then.

lol - you can't backflip to another team - that would be more like a reverse pike with a sideways movement which is an extremely hard manouevre - although in this total NRL mess who knows whats possible

It depends who Hayne's manager is. If it's still Wayne Beavis, then it's probably a non-story. Beavis and Politis are close mates. He's always at Roosters games. He also manages Trent Robinson and a few other players.

Sure you can, Moses did it to the Roosters earlier in the year and went back on the market (which is why Politis refuses to deal with Isaac Moses directly). "Backflipping" in the COP just means you pull out of the contract that you signed. You essentially go back to the position you were in prior to signing the deal.

How did it work out for you ?….the free women , booze , clothes and smokes , when you went from the Berala Bears to the Eastern Suburbs

I have edited my post since you have posted this - however you are backing up what i say - you can't backflip to another team - only to the team you were with and then get on the merry go round again

Well technically you don't have a "team" if you're a free agent. You essentially "backflip" back into free agency as you are not contracted for any team in 2018 and that's when the contract is signed for, but I get what you're trying to say.

Well " technically " he is not a free agent until the end of his current contract - he can under NRL rules sign with another team prior to the end of that contract but he is not free to join that team until his current contract is complete unless there is agreement by both parties.

Maybe when the Roosters say to u that u never have to pay for anything ever again…food, clothes etc u start to think that living for free off Nick adds plenty of value to the contract.

There will be a gruntled whistle blower one day for these grubs. Cant wait for it.

No Im not. Im talking about inserting a contractual cooling off period greater than the 10 days prescribed by the NRL. It would be neither a breach of the NRL rules, as I understand them, nor of the contract.

I am not talking about forward dating and have no idea why you have suggested I am.
