Jarome Luai

Barring the headlines, I was told Luai won’t be released early - could be wrong but my source seems pretty confident about it and he was confident Luai was coming to begin with so might be onto something. I’m catching up with him sometime in the next few days so will try get more from him on what’s happening so I can share on here.

Personally don’t think that’s a bad thing, another year in that system next to Nathan will improve his game too. Whilst, it gives us this year to work out who’s gonna partner him in 2025 and gives our Halves depth the opportunity to audition themselves. I also think people are underestimating what Sullivan could potentially do fully confident at 7 this year. He could be anything tbh. Good problems to have.
Never really clicked with a Kangaroos halves partner in Hunt and some fairly strong outside backs at the Dragons. I think Bud has a lot to prove.

he also had a pandemic and Anthony Griffin to contend with. Hunt is also pretty selfish player also who overcalls his halves partner on just about every play.

Benji and Sezer will be perfect for him for 2024, with Luai coming along the year after. Sullivan is the one I least expect to be playing NRL week to week next to Luai out of all the halves we have (Fainu I think will get the jump), but if Sullivan can rediscover what made him so electric coming thru the grades he may become undroppable.

I can see the actual halves pairing moving forward being Bud and Luai . I can also see Latu finding his way somewhere else .
Didn’t someone mention that the real Fainu brother we were most excited about was the back rower ?
It’s a pretty good spot to be in for once . 3 halves who were the best in thier age group fighting it out .
Not just the best either . All 3 were head and shoulders above the field .

Kind of world away from 12 months ago when we dropped jock and Hastings, backed brooks and AD and picked up Wakeham late for a 2023 we'd all be happy to forget

I think Bud could end up a perfect 14

We all have our sauces on the table here

I would personally be amazed if Bud is still at the club at the start of preseason in 2 years time
Red flags are already there. Pining over wishing he had stayed at the Dragons. He is a kid though, who has never had to change clubs. Once he becomes familiar with his teammates and as long as there is no drama, he should be fine. It’s not like the Dragons will be flying much higher than us over the next few years.

Man I’d be spewing too moving from the beach at port Kembla to Sydney traffic , uncertainty for your role , away from family and friends etc.
As long as he’s open to the changes , then the fact he’s lamenting that it all failed at his childhood club , is hardly pause for concern . I mean he should feel that way .
Imagine growing being the best in your age group , being told by everyone that one day you’ll be leading your childhood team , for it to get so close , then form , Covid , coaching changes, lack of cohesion , shitty forward pack , your captain is a sex pest , and all that drama . The leaders at the club are all the dumbest humans alive . And th culture is a boys club to the same Ilk as wests tigers circa 05-12 , with none of the success .
Im
Not making excuses that’s just the reality of what happened .
