JASON CAYLESS SIGNS FOR TWO YEARS
Wednesday, 14 October 2009

Wests Tigers is pleased to announce the significant signing of representative prop Jason Cayless for seasons 2010 and 2011.

Cayless will renew his career in the NRL following four successful years with St Helens. During this time, Cayless enjoyed English Super League premiership and Challenge Cup success.

A former NRL premiership winning front-rower and Kiwi international, Cayless will add plenty of muscle to an already strong Wests Tigers forward pack.

Cayless previously played in the NRL with the Sydney Roosters and Parramatta Eels.

“It is great to be back in Australia playing in the NRL competition with a club heading in the right direction such as the Wests Tigers,’’ Cayless said.

“I can’t wait to play with the likes of Benji Marshall, Robbie Farah, Gareth Ellis and the boys under an excellent coach in Tim Sheens.”

Sheens said Cayless was a quality signing for the club.

“Jason will add a lot of depth and experience to the pack and will provide invaluable leadership to the strong crop of exciting young forwards coming through the ranks at Wests Tigers,’’ he said.

Well I'm pretty happy with that. Rather Lima but Cayless is a good tough prop.

Excellent, that's one. Anderson Silva correct. Well done mate.

Thank God for that, well done mate. Congrats to all involved who managed to sign him. I think he's stepped off the wrong foot saying Tim SHeens is an excellent coach. He might have a lot of people against him here already.

Great news indeed!!

Tuquri to follow up hopefully tomorrow or friday!

dammit its only october, 4 months to go before we can see some Tigers magic!!!!!

Anybody got a time machine???

Just hope he stays injury free, he hasn't played much football in the last two years, though he'll be fresh as he hasn't played since April I believe?

He is better than his brother and when he left the NRL he was one of the best props in the game.

Chris,

Not worried about that at all. Lima is a good player but IMHO Cayless at his best if far superior. Dont you just love Sheens. Promises a marquee player every year and actually delivers. We have all been crying out for a prop and he actually delivers. Brilliant I say.

I disagree on both counts. I think Lima is a better (albeit different) player, and I wouldn't classify Cayless as a marquee player. That being said I am still extremely happy with this signing as we've been crying out for some more muscle up front for years now.

Tuquri is a marquee.

Yes fantistic news..Premiership winning experienced Prop that's actually a Prop….....well done Wests Tigers recruitment on this one......

Awaits however.....we signed the wrong one...or we fluked it calls.....
