Jeff Lima

Yeah second best recuitmet year in our history imo.

Most exciting recruit for me is Steve Folkes.

He will bring the discipline we need.

Totally agree Kaiser, our recruitment is quite good, and Taumata will be a huge signing,I would rather Lima than Tuqiri as we need him more.

Dallas Johnson Quits Melbourne Storm : This is a nail in the coffin of the hopes of Wests Tigers securing Jeff Lima:

I dont come here to whinge and moan. I want nothing but the tigers to do well. I dont really enjoy saying those things about the club i support, but i am being a realist, please here me out.

Taumata has shown flashes of being a good player. He is not a saviour. Cayless is yet prove himself in the NRL again.

Whilst they are both exciting signings, there are also elements of doubt as to whether Taumata can stay out of trouble and crack a regular spot. Cayless has suffered from injury for quite a while now too. We are hoping, he can stay injury free this time. If so, he should be a good signing.

I dont want to jump up and down and celebrate either of these two signings until the proof is laid right out in front of me on the field.

The club has done well with recruitment this year. **Some people just come to the forum to whinge and moan**.

It's genetic disposition for the vast majority of Wests Tigers fans.

Doesn't mention Lima anywhere in this article….If you want proof out on the field how about hold back the critisism until we actually see the final make up of the team....cuts both ways......

Kaiser....It wouldn't matter what the Club did...four years of missing the 8 will turn some people bitter...your assessment for 2010 is spot on for mine....if there are no other signings then so be it....put it into Upgrading Moltzen, Ayshford and a few of the other youth coming through...Tuiaki is also off contract now's a good time to look to extend him as well.....

Its pretty well scripted that Johnson leaving is to ease salary cap pressure and to keep Jeff Lima..
This would be a pretty boring place without criticism - and i do think my criticism is warranted.

Daniela and Brown are nothing to write home about, is there not better things we could have done with that money? Such as upgrade the contracts of the below mentioned.

I agree on upgrading contracts of Moltzen, Ayshford and Tuiaki.

Of course you can be critical….. as far as your criticism warranted....well in '09 we signed arguably the buy of the Year in Ellis...cut some of the deadwood which continued into 2010...as well as unearthed some very good young talent...

We are not a Club that goes out and buys estsblished players..not many that do are all that successful anyway..we try and build from within....something I believe some take for granted and that we excell at it better than most other Clubs.....

We signed a bloke in Cayless when fully fit is one of the better front rowers in the game...He has been through the medicals at 2 Clubs and passed...Very excited to see him in 2010....

Mitch Brown is a very good buy IMO....Ex Australian Schoolboy who has size about him...hope he gets a crack at the 1 jersey in the trials...Daniella provides depth for the lower grades granted......

In all likelyhood it appears Lima will stay in Melbourne...but to say the Club is pathetic cause we couldn't sign him given the circumstances is not right IMO.....

unless like they say Lima signed weeks ago. we still have that theory to fall back on. maybe dallas johnson and jeff lima arent related if that is the case.

So once again our off season player recruitment is pathetic.

Someone has to take control of this. Its not good enough.

You got to be kidding….

This year has been the best we have seen in recent history.

Not only have wee added depth and size while also removing some of the perceived deadwood. If the club manages to have done so while leaving some money in the bank this would have been remarkable. We can also step up retention and recruitment nest season.

All this with Lote to be announced (Pending injury).

Lima is no right off yet .....

So has anyone got an update?? Surely something should come out soon, maybe when Sheens is back in Oz

I'm not on the Lima won't join us bandwagon just yet, have a feeling the Storm will be releasing more than just Johnson to another club they are in more trouble than what a workhorse who usually doesn't get the credit he deserves off the park (most of those players don't $$$ wise) won't resolve the Storms issues regarding the cap fully.

Time will tell how this recruitment drive pans out.
We havent won any games yet.
Remember, quantity does not equate to quality.

You're correct, they are releasing more than just Johnson… Anderson has signed with the Broncos.

The Storm must be in pretty massive salary cap trouble if they need to release Johnson (played in the last 4 SOO), Lima (NZ regular) and Anderson (one of the most promising young front rowers in the game) at the end of the season.

The one hope of getting lima was and still is homesickness ,talk of salary cap issues is bs.why.simple,its the melbourne storm inglis, slater smith cronk e.tc e.t.c every year they keep these players. Why did johnson leave salary cap, wrong.Desire too live in europe.Folau left last year, salary cap,b.s.To move to brisbane to be coser to family melbourne despite popular belief do not operate under a salary cap.trust me. :deadhorse:

They don't keep them all King, Folau, Johnson, Smith etc have all left more will, they aren't exempt from the salary cap restrictions they are just lucky to be a 1 state team which opens the door to alot of off the book deals to be sorted for their players, the salary cap does bite them considering they have won the comp twice in the last few years they would be under the microscope more than other teams and to think otherwise would be silly. They clamped down on the Bulldogs who were on fire and to think they wouldn't do it again would be a joke.
