Strong Jersey Flegg team playing Knights sitting 13th/14. We have Tino Tavana & Max Liles returning from NSW Cup last week and captain Tom Fisher returns.

This team is building some consistency in the lineup and positions which can only be a good thing.

I suspect we'll see Kanaan and Tavana swap positions at some point some both get reps at fullback and wing. Both excellent prospects who could excel in both positions.

We're very strong on the edges now and I love what Leon is building with this team. We've got workmanlike middles with Epere, Leatigaga & Plati great to have on the bench, all played well last week.

This team has everything to play for ... possible promotion to NSW Cup for some players plus holding out our top SG Ball players in future.

It will be interesting the likes of Makasini, Haywood, Godinet, Taupau-Moors, Tauaifaiga, Tannous, Duncombe, Oitmann & Brookes rotating in and out of this team. I suspect these Ball players will be given a week or so off and then focus on some conditioning & strength work whilst on the training paddock with these guys (even NRL squad). So maybe another 4-6 weeks before any get a run, I maybe wrong.
Which of the above mentioned SGball boys are finished with school?

Leading 16-6 at halftime against the Knights.
Plenty of strong carries, Tino Tavana, Sol Saukuru and Cameron Kanaan the standouts so far.
Hat trick to Max Liles, all individual with good footwork close to the line.
He needs some work on his kicking game, but he’s a very dangerous ball runner.
Broederlow has far outshone Mitch Taotua today.

Did Saukuru get injured? I saw Tavana unable to walk on an ankle injury and need the medicab, bit havent seen much of the game.

Yes Tavana went off injured early in the second half and didn’t notice Saukuru in the 2nd half, so assuming he got injured also.
Saukuru I think was an ankle.

Not sure whether Tavana was knee from the Bar coverage, so sad for Tino as he was having a belter on the wing. Some elusive runs, good yardage, good D and the best aerial try you’ll see all year. After 1st half I was thinking this kid could be a future NRL winger. Bloody worst luck for the kid! Hopefully not as bad as first impressions.

Good assessment on Max Liles & Broederlow has come along a lot this season with an NRL pre-season under his belt. Tavana was massive before his injury and the other player I want to mention is Josese Lanyon. Both solid & dangerous at hooker then moved into lock where he equally looks at home with some strong carries, nice link play & solid D.

Yes the players who are a solid dummy half, but also play well as a ball playing 13 can be very valuable.

Lanyons been good, Pritchard had been pretty scratchy, why move someone who's been one of our best? Especially when there's another hooker on the bench?
Playing 3 hookers seems excessive

Flegg boys lost 34 to 26 today. Parra middles just seemed bigger and stronger. Even though we looked good in patches, Parra were the better side. Defensively we just weren't able to hold them when defending our line and the intent/intensity wasn't quite there.

I felt like Leonard Plati was our best forward by a mile and provided plenty of punch off the bench. Haywood with some crisp passes but went short a few too many times. Iverson Matai looked good and created some chances/tries. Broederlow is a big strong body and had some good carries/moments. Will Craig and Cameron Kanaan the best in our backline. The team definitely missed Tavana and Saukuru today out wide and with Solo's metres out of uardage.

Pheonix Godinet only had limited minutes and the ball didnt go his way often which was a bit disappointing. Strong first carry but then the ref deemed him placing the ball on the ground as a knock on. We were just making a charge back and that decision hurt us. Duncombe came in late to the team instead of Taupau-Moors. Pretty quiet from Archie today.

Disappointing loss 26-34 to the Eels in Jersey Flegg today. It looked like the heat & fatigue got to us in the 2nd half through the middle especially when errors forced us to defend a lot.

We definitely missed our left edge Solo Saukuru & Tino Tavana.

Thought Max Liles, Max Taotua, Leni Plati, Lachie Broederlow & Jeremiah Leatigaga were our best along with Cam Kanaan. Plati has been a hidden gem for us this season with his leg & line speed through the middle while defensively Leatigaga helps us lock down the middle. Liles & Max were class and Kanaan and Matai had some nice moments in attack.

We have Duncombe, Godinet & Haywood some time today without standing out, they will be better for the run, good for them to get a feel for it.

I've been complimentary of him in previous weeks but today Josese Lanyon was very poor with some defensive efforts leading to tries & whilst Mitch Taotua was ok, he does have a bit to tweak in defence.

Haha yeah both felt it was the time for a wrap up of the game.

Max Taotua was one having read yours that I also think did quite well. I enjoy watching him play and reckon he has a lot of quality attributes that can help him develop as he moves up the grades.

Would like to see us pull the trigger while Tavana is out and give Logan Brookes a taste of Flegg at fullback. Kanaan to left wing. If Xavier T is fit (I know he was injured at end of SG Ball season), I would also pop him in while Solo is out.

Like your thinking. Yep now is good time to try Kanaan at fullback, wing & centre, likewise Tavana when he returns.

I think Max Taotua is a very good right centre & can pinch hit on the wing - I really like Max's super quick hands passing left to right to his winger.

Hopefully Brookes is good to go as he hurt his shoulder in that final game in SG Ball, hopefully just a stinger.
