Balmains Matts side are getting smashed 20-4 at half time. Roosters are man for man about 10cm taller and 10kg bigger than our boys, across the field.

Looks like some poor recruitment this season. Roosters look sharp, Tigers look scared and bruised.

Balmain SG Ball didn’t look too big either in their last trial against Wests.

With Tannous out for the year as well, it’s a worry.

Is the ACL confirmed or just feared?

I would assume confirmed as I heard it from a mate involved with Balmain that he’s torn his ACL.

I saw him being helped off in the last trial with ice being put on his knee but didn’t think anything of it at the time. Didn’t look serious.

Was shocked to hear ACL.

Just heard straight from the horses mouth. Torn ACL and meniscus. Both sides of the knee done and season over

Poor kid, fingers crossed he comes back bigger and better next season.

Funny enough, I am away for my Mum's birthday today and attended the football up here and watched the Northern Division Tigers play the North Coast Bulldogs. Not realising it is the same comp that our young guys are playing in.

Was at Leichhardt today, the Tarsha Cup West Tigers looked really good, alot better than Parramatta. In the Harold Mathews , it was like the men playing the boys. Tigers tried hard and most of the Roosters points came from their backs. I thought Ibrahim and Sukkar were best for us. Our forward pack though smaller did well. In the SG Ball Tigers were the better side but drew. In the first half we were way better but the Vic side scored a try through a charge down, then put up a kick to our winger who seem to get bumped off the ball and the ball bounced straight to one of their players, then they scored a late try in the last second of the first half. Then Vic majority of possession, when we had the ball we looked alot better.

Also have word that Balmain’s Mikey Tannous tore his ACL in the last trial and won’t be playing this season unfortunately.

Not good at all. Will be pretty much 2 years out of the game considering he wouldn't have played any footy in 2020. Tragic for the kid. Fingers crossed he can fulfill his potential.

Who is coaching the Balmain teams?

Ross Mignacca is Harold Matts, Scott Kenna is SG Ball.

Hadn’t heard of either prior to this season.

Sad news for Mikey Tannous and Wests Tigers. That will set his development back a little. The good news is having an injury at this age is not the end of the world. It allows players time to become educated on the game.

This is where a lot of great players have been made - time on the side-lines. They get an opportunity to actually watch games and analyse them. They see things they didn't know were there. I think we will see this in Jacob Liddle this year. He's going to have a blinder.

Balmain deserved to win, and should have. Far too many dropped balls. Melbourne had probably 60-70% posession in the second half. When we had the ball we looked far better, but their fullback was a little Matty Bowen type. They had a much bigger side, a couple of Asofa Solomona clones but our were certainly getting the job done.
They had lucky tries. Ref had a poor game too but we still should have won. Had a shot at field goal from 45 out on the siren but Saukuru was wide.

I notice we have a Livai and a Lomi Saukuru in our SG Ball squads - one is at Balmain the other at Wests - surely they are related? If so whats the story?

No don't think so. Lomi signed with his brother from the dogs. Brother is in Matts I think.

Livai has been with Balmain s few years. Pretty sure Saukuru is a fairly common surname in Fiji

Great to see an optimistic prediction kazoo.

It was also good to see Doueihi in the stands for the matches. Also Tuki there with a swag of young ladies (some I think were sisters, along with his gf). Looks like a big but normal teenager, he seemed to know a bunch of Balmains Ball players too. also Alan Fitzgibbon supporting from the sidelines

Yes, was another Lebanese player being presented with his #7 jersey on the weekend (unsure of who).

Tannous is definitely the one injured.

Definitely Tannous with the ACL.

CJ Jardim the Ball halfback is another young half with a lot of potential. Think he might be Lebanese too. Had a good game, some very smart kicks.

No sign of Anjoul at hooker though. Wonder if he's injured or playing with Flegg this year. Any idea @Tiger19 ?

Maybe the mix up was because Tannous was playing 9 ...I don't know ...was just asking the question

Maybe the club should come out and clear it up ...then again in all reality Tannous wasn't going to come into NRL considerations unless we had a calamitous season as far as halves are concerned
