Klemmer

He'd be a great signing, lol what are u talking about….
He's on track to being one of the best front rowers in the comp.

Id have him for 700k for sure. As mentioned salary cup is increasing by 4 million and he will become one of the best props in the NRL in the next few years

Manly paid 700k for Taupau

He would certainly add starch to our forward pack and I think he would work well with Woods. It's still a hard concept to see him in Tigers colours though given the Bulldogs are a strong club and we're on struggle street.

I've always been of the opinion that you need to spend most of your money in the backs and backrow. I wouldn't be a fan of having two international props if we were weak in the halves or centres.

I always think you can get good mileage out of modestly priced props.

I agree. I think we've got a good value prop rotation this year. We're overpaying for what we have at hooker, second row and in the halves (on last season's form). I'd rather invest in Taumalolo or Papalii or someone in that mould than Klemmer (although I don't think we're a realistic shot at any of those players).

I agree that we are unlikely to get either Taumalolo or papalii but i would like us to see what the chances of getting Taukeiaho from the roosters. I think he would be a cheaper version with a bit of upside. Good with the ball and hits in defense.

The way Grant has started the year would indicate that we no longer need Klemmer for next season, though if there is a large TPA attached I wouldn't say no.

Bulldogs have 5 or 6 players on 700k plus a season but yet we can't keep Moses,Tedesco and Brooke's together

What a joke league is becoming

Spot on!…League should manage the salary cap and TPA for all clubs.

I'm not sure which players would be on 700 k from the Dogs .

In my opinion he's no worth the money, i haven't seen anything yet that makes him a 700k + player.

I would much rather
Matt Gillett 700k+ but wont leave Brisbane or QLD
Or
Tamou for around the same price
Or
Brenton Lawrence + Sio Siua Taukeiaho
Or
Brenton Lawrence + losia Soliola

Also throw in Elijah Taylor if we get him and take chance with Konrad Hurrell if the price is right.

Straight swap….Lawrence for Cartwright ...seems like a good deal for both clubs

I'd love to have Cartwright at the club but it's unfortunate cause it will never happen, Penrith will not let go of this fella and he seems to be very committed to the club as well :bash

Representative forward David Klemmer is set to re-sign with Canterbury on a deal that will keep him at the Bulldogs until at least the end of 2018 NRL season.

Klemmer is one of a host of stars off contract at the end of 2016 at Belmore, including Moses Mbye, Josh Jackson, Greg Eastwood and Tony Williams.

Like most clubs the Bulldogs are negotiating their way through their playing roster for the coming season amid uncertainty as to how much the salary cap will rise over the coming seasons.

Klemmer, who is expected to re-sign by the end of the month, was keen to commit to the club for a longer term, but that uncertainty prevented that.

"We are in deep discussion at the moment, it is going really well, we just have to formalise a couple of things and it should be done," Klemmer told AAP.

"I have secured my future so it is all good. I am settled here, my family loves it and I always wanted to stay."

Klemmer's signing could pave the way for the Bulldogs to put the other pieces of their salary cap puzzle together.

Both Mbye and Jackson are expected to stay, while Williams may be Super League-bound.

Eastwood's preference is to stay with the Bulldogs but he has been linked to a move to St George Illawarra and Melbourne.

In March, Sam Kasiano recommitted to the Bulldogs for three more years.

Klemmer, 22, played all three State of Origin fixtures for NSW last season and is in the frame for a return to the Australian side to for Anzac Test. He played three Tests for the Kangaroos in 2014.

Well…..tbh he was never gonna come here with the club in the mess it is now I guess another player bites the dust.
Maybe make a play for Eastwood???
