Lachlan Galvin #277 *Megathread*

Can’t agree. He seems to be to have a sense of entitlement well beyond that which his abilities would suggest. He signed a contract, nobody forced him, I’m assuming on the advice of Moses and his father. He should honour that contract unless there is clear evidence of unconscionable behaviour on the part of WT. I’m not aware of any such behaviour.
I am totally bemused as to how Richo offered him +$1m a season. I haven’t seen anything to suggest to me that he is or will be worth that.
I see a kid who could develop into a workmanlike first grader if he improves in some areas. I’m happy to see him leave if WT decide to let him.
What is the entitlement? I havent seen him display it in an interview, havent seen it come out on the field in an explosive Mitchell Moses type rant at a team mate. How do you know it exists?
As for the contract, he has said he will honour it. The problem is he is not playing well.
I agree with the rest you have said.

The post you replied to is just wests tigers pile on …, with the ultimate objective being to sound holier than thou/“ I told you so”, self serving bullshit .
The club tried to give a saloon passage to a Player they invested in when the rest of junior footy thought he wasn’t worth it . They even paid 5k to get him across here . The kid shot up 6-7 inches in height , and the club struck gold . Fools gold it ended up being .
So to say the club shouldn’t have blooded him , because of whatever reason is once again bullshit .
The eels debuted Ilongi this year at 18 . The dolphins debuted Katoa at 18 . Taumalolo debuted at 18 . Til
Brasher debuted at 17 . If the kid is good enough you give him a go. Most kids in turn feel a sense of innate loyalty , and desire to return the favour.
That’s just human nature . To feel like “we would have debuted anywhere , and we don’t owe you nothing is simply short sighted and not real .
Plenty of “best player to come through in years” don’t achieve anything , and most arnt given the time to fail . Willie Peters and Karl Filiga come to mind without much thought .
The nrl has figured him out . It was inevitable . Not because he’s shit or anything , but that’s what they do . Study video and shut you down . He needs to develop to overcome this . Apparently we can’t do it . Sweet there’s the door … but we need some players in return .

Not fussed what happens , whether he remains or not. There are big gaps in his play and I would like to know why it isn’t being addressed. He is doing and trying too much when it should be luai who should be the dominant. If he remains this should be addressed ASAP.

As for him being entitled well he knocked back a huge offer and I don’t care what anyone says he won’t get that money elsewhere (legal or with “tpa”) so he has given up money. As for him wanting to leave and getting smashed about it , it’s one of my bug bears , clubs do it all the time and get praised for getting rid of deadwood (who cares if they still end up on same money if they leave).

Contracts should be contracts both ways until they penalise both clubs (original and incoming) on the contracts not full field this will always occur. Like the dom young example I think it’s horrendous that he signed a 4 year deal with the rorters and one year later they are trying to send him back to the knights and they get praised for being ruthless and managing roster , or have a look at the dogs who are being praised for their recruitment what % of players have seen out contracts in full that they signed last few years

Mate, not in an interview but the behaviour in repeatedly seeking releases and (apparently) criticising Marshall’s coaching is what I called entitled behaviour. I’m old school in age and attitude and I don’t appreciate his ‘me first’ approach. Having said that I’m more than happy for him to move on.
