Lachlan Galvin #277

Guessing Mitch is about 6’2’

Sounds like a (taller) Trent Barrett clone once he fills out. I’d be happy with that outcome.
Mitch is under 6 foot....

Galvin is literally 15cm taller than Moses (and most NRL halves). 197cm and 85kgs, until he gets to at least 90kgs he won't play NRL.

But otherwise there are a lot of similarities with Fittler, which is exciting, but his height and build is the only real difference at this stage

If Galvin is in our starting side in 2024 we are in deep shit. He is a baby in terms of Rugby League development, he would get physically and mentally destroyed. He is not a hair on Fittler's arse at the same age, he will need at least two more years in at least KOE Cup before he is ready. He has been playing against young kids for Christ sake.

197? That’s 6’5 1/2.

Only similar size half playing is Drew Huchinson, 6.4 and 97kg

Nah..someone who reckons they're "close to the club"...
Unfortunately manly are owned by Moses, incl the coach...theyre definitely gonna test the kids loyalty, which is why were attempting to provide a pathway for him
The irony is they believe Brooks will be Galvins mentor....!

ok…. but it sounds like he is just quoting what was in the Mole’s article yesterday.,,, not a great source …

Anyway … he is signed for three more years so hope he is patient

If I was a good young half coming through and someone tried to sell that to me I’d be breaking the pen in half and running out the door.
Galvin at that size and if he bulks up and makes it to NRL starting half won’t play 7 at that size but there is no reason why you can’t have a giant 6 with the right kind of 7 with him. Like Daley, Fittler, Inglis, etc, and I would be selling that to him with the caveat that all of those played centre, and some FB, and lock, so be prepared to be flexible.

In the next 12 months or so while he is under contract Benji will have worked out whether Galvin is a keeper or not
Agree - in fact I think they will have this worked out within the first six months. I also think they will get a good idea with Sullivan and Fainu as well. From there they will (I hope) make very attractive offers to whoever they think is worth keeping before November. All three may not work out, but the club has time up its sleeve before they have to make a decision.

Sullivan and Fainu are signed for 4 years - why would we be doing anything before November 2024?

Maybe the Boston Celtics need a halfback. Tigers website 190cm.

Lets be fair on Galvin's ability the kid can play and will be a first grader but he needs time to develop Physically
and that is at least 12 months away. Hopefully Benji and West Tigers have their plans in place for his development.

Not a half???
He will most likely take the usual course that most RL players take over a 2-300 game career.

Blooded in the centres for a couple of years, move to the halves for 6-8 years and finish his last 3 year contract playing at Lock when he gets to 29/30+ and at his heaviest.

Will then go to Super League for a 2/3 year contract or straight into the media after retiring at 33/34.

or he will play 3 NRL games and never be heard of again....could go either way.

Clontarf actually explained it well. Galvin is a skinny kid. Way to skinny for NRL or probably even KOE. He hasnt even played Flegg yet. In order to survive NRL he needs to put on a lot of muscle mass. On a 6'4" frame by the time he build sufficient muscle to survive, he is well over 100kg and this will definitely impact his speed and acceleration and will not be suited for halves.
Maybe but that’s not 100%. If he’s trained to be more aerobic rather than just bulking up. He should be specialised in sprint training rather than just straight muscle mass. I take your point, if we don’t do the hard yards in his development speed can be lost.
