It will all come to a finalisation of sorts soon. The impatience on here is ridiculous...

Impatience! Your having a laugh .... surely?
This has been dragging on for almost 2 months.

Most certainly not. 2 months is nothing in the scheme of things.

Easy to say for those of you who already know what's going on. The rest of us just get fed all sorts of ambiguous crap and speculation from both the media and the few posters on here who claim insider knowledge. It doesn't help that all the info given to us over this time never actually correlates!

Don't get sucked in by it is all I can suggest.

All of it? There must be some element of truth in there somewhere. The hard part is trying to discern it.

terry hill legally belted that back in the day…

That was 1991, it's now 2020.

The Law said it was illegal ... a restraint of trade...I don't think the ruling would change if it was challenged in Court..

The ruling could indeed change if it was challenged again! Restraints of trade aren't automatically illegal, if they can be shown to be of the needed or reasonable then they can be allowed to stand. If it could be shown that having a draft would have large benefits to the competition such as creating a more even competition in the game, keeping the game viable, pulling in increased revenues that would then benefit players with higher salaries then they earn now then it is possible that a draft could withstand a legal challenge.

A draft would be right on the bubble though, but if I think if ever the salary cap was challenged it would be found to be a fair and reasonable restraint of trade!

How many articles of late have contained direct quotes from the player? The Tigers have been nothing but transparent in their media talk around Latrell. Most of the journos are no different to members on here - they're speculating without knowing because the club no longer 'leaks' like it used to, so they make up their own nonsense to try and stay relevant.

I obviously reall y want Latrell to come to the Tigers because I think he is a superstar and would make a world of difference to us, but I think even more I would love it to stick it up both Souffs & the media.

Mind you if it did happen, you watch the media turn on him for 'betraying' them.

Mate I reckon it will be: Latrell runs out of options so signs with WestsTigers. Then the sub plot will be about us wrecking careers etc. Anasta will probably be asked to comment on Gatorade or tape or some crap like that. Ben Elias will be there talking about how his nephew was almost hospitalised he was so depressed. If anyone can wake up Adam Blair he’ll probably chip in about being used wrongly used. Just the usual junk!

I'd love to see a year of Latrell running off some of Benji's passes. I think the NRL would see this as a great way to promote the game. We were once the darlings of the NRL - we get Latrell and everyone will be excited.

Let's assume we do get him.

If we can add JAC in 2021 and a decent 5/8 and centre in the backs and a prop and back rower in the forwards, we'll be serious top 4 contenders.

I love Benji as much as anyone, but Benji circa 2020? Circa 2010 and we’re talking.

Can we have one scenario where we don’t always paint ourselves as victims. I’m only asking for one.

Where did I mention victimhood?

they can play league in Europe now and in England, i cant see how Hills argument of a restraint of trade against a draft could still stand up today, there are so many other options for the players to apply their trade. Im no lawyer though so im probarbly wrong.

Sounds like you dont rate the squad or the young guys coming through. Half those positions we have depth and exciting talent in

Let’s not get pedantic. Assuming that the media will target us if LM signs with us, it flat out implies it. It’s a tired old gag. Every clubs supporter base thinks their club is targeted. There’s nothing special about our club that makes our claims any more justified than anyone else.

Yeh I know - but old Benji still can deliver a a great pass and Latrell at full speed - what a treat.
