I obviously reall y want Latrell to come to the Tigers because I think he is a superstar and would make a world of difference to us, but I think even more I would love it to stick it up both Souffs & the media.

Mind you if it did happen, you watch the media turn on him for 'betraying' them.

Can we have one scenario where we don’t always paint ourselves as victims. I’m only asking for one.

Where did I mention victimhood?

Let’s not get pedantic. Assuming that the media will target us if LM signs with us, it flat out implies it. It’s a tired old gag. Every clubs supporter base thinks their club is targeted. There’s nothing special about our club that makes our claims any more justified than anyone else.

Cool your jets GNR. I said the media would turn on ***HIM*** not ***US***. Projecting much?

He would be apart of our club, so it would be a shot at us. No projecting. Just hosing down a good “woah is us melodrama”

Except it didnt exist. I dont think that, I didnt say that, you are making it up to fit your weird narrative about something that doesnt exist.

The media have been disgraceful in a character assassination of LM and it will get worse if he makes them look any more stupid than they already do.

Weird mate. Having a crack at me about something you've made up.

Haven’t made up the victim mentality at all. It exists and I find it sickening. Maybe not in your post, but in lots of others.

I honestly don't think its playing the victim. I hate that stuff as well. But the media , namely Ritchie and buzz (So News limited), definitely push the basket case angle . This is usually followed by story from some other writer on the team, about how everyone has it wrong , followed up by a redemption story ... It's pretty predictable.
It's a way to hedge Thier bets and say "I told you so " however the outcome. Like the last day of the year stories .
Go back and read them , it's basically the same type of crap . Whatever sells I guess

Also , I think LM is game changer and totally worth the risk , but he definitely needs to lose about 5 kgs immediately.
He is going to have to work hard . As highly talented as he is , the contract is only the beginning . The expectations that come with it , both externally and internally from the club and himself , are probably bigger than any of us even know right now .
I have faith in him. I reckon he can do it

I'm not clear why Souths would even want LM at this stage, with Burgess out. Like for like, surely Burgess' money gets eaten up by Jai Arrow, like for like.

Otherwise Souths have a very lean forward pack in 2020, which was already a weakness for them in 2019.

Any one have access to Brent Read story in the Australian. Can only see the header which suggests the Wests Tigers believe Latrell will follow Walker to South's.

Cody Walker has agreed a contract extension at South Sydney and Wests Tigers remain convinced Latrell Mitchell will follow suit as the Rabbitohs step up their rebuild in the wake of Sam Burgess’s retirement.

Walker, off contract at the end of 2020, has been negotiating with Souths for some weeks and it is understood he has now agreed to a lucrative extension worth upwards of $1.3 million that will keep him at the club until the end of 2022.

His retention is a huge coup for the Rabbitohs given Walker’s standing in the club – he is viewed as a potential future captain following the injury-enforced end of Burgess’ career.

It was thought that Walker’s future would have a bearing on Mitchell, taking up salary cap room that could have been used to pursue the Sydney Roosters, NSW and Australian centre.

However, Tigers officials — who had attempted to woo Mitchell with a multimillion-dollar pitch — remain convinced Souths are well and truly in the picture for the Roosters centre even after Walker’s retention.

At the same time, Walker’s extension is for 2021 and beyond so it will have no bearing on Souths’ cap for the upcoming season. It is understood subtle inquiries have been made with rival clubs over their interest in Souths winger Dane Gagai, although it is believed those inquiries have not been driven by the Rabbitohs.

Gagai’s future was a talking point during the season amid claims he wanted to play centre. Souths fullback Alex Johnston has also been mentioned as a potential departure to create space under the Rabbitohs’ cap for 2020.

The Rabbitohs were also in the mix for Brisbane backrower David Fifita, although it is believed they have now dropped their interest as they focus on Gold Coast forward Jai Arrow.

The Australian was told that retired Rabbitohs forward Sam Burgess had flown to Brisbane to meet Fifita and his family as part of the Rabbitohs’ pitch to the lure the barnstorming Queensland forward to Sydney.

However, Fifita – he was chased by as many as 12 clubs before the Rabbitohs, Sydney Roosters and Canterbury were included on a shortlist – is expected to sign a contract extension with the Broncos in the new year.

The Rabbitohs and Tigers are also believed to be jostling over Gold Coast forward Jai Arrow, who has yet to make a decision over his future beyond 2020. Arrow was expected to make a call last weekend and is believed to have lucrative offers on the table from both Souths and the Tigers.

The sense is that he will make a decision on his future before the weekend and the outcome is likely to have a huge bearing on both Souths and the Titans.

Walker, however, is going nowhere, having committed his future to Souths. His retention won’t hurt Souths if they decide to crystallise their interest in Mitchell given the pair recently spent time together at an indigenous camp.

Souths centre James Roberts was also at the camp and the belief is that Mitchell’s preference is to join the Rabbitohs, the Sydney Roosters having told him he is free to leave before the end of his existing deal.

Mitchell has already been paid nearly two months out of the final year of his contract and the Roosters would no doubt like the matter settled before they return to training in early January.

Question - how is Mitchell Contract status a circus, yet the likes of Arrow and Fifita aren't? They're all doing the same thing, the latter have both spoken to more clubs than Mitchell, and been in talks for even longer. Yet Mitchell is targeted and the others get no media scrutiny?

Why? How?

Believe it or not, the circus is due to this forum. And the Facebook groups. The Tigers have one of the largest fan bases in the country, and are largely gullible. Put the two together and every journalist in the country has a quota to trigger is at least once or twice a week. Give us a clickbait header and we'll click on it and read the crap out of it dammit!
If Mitchell were tossing up between Canberra and Newcastle there would be no circus.

I don't know. Maybe Mitch is a higher profile persona than the others. I think the LM camp leaked some stuff to the media, and we certainly have also in the past to try and use it to our advantage. Maybe plus what you say being a factor also.

This certainly has been a circus, with a lot of stuff I suspect made up. Wasn't Cam Smith umming and ahhing about whether he would go round again next year? That's not in the papers, or did he make his mind up?

I think it's more about the way such a high profile player has broken up with his former club, who just happen to be the premiers, that has fuelled the fire. No such animosity between Arrow and the Titans or Fifita and Brisbane.

Let's assume we do get him.

If we can add JAC in 2021 and a decent 5/8 and centre in the backs and a prop and back rower in the forwards, we'll be serious top 4 contenders.

Sounds like you dont rate the squad or the young guys coming through. Half those positions we have depth and exciting talent in

I wouldn't say that.

In 2021, we'll lose Benji, so he needs to be replaced.

We never replaced Marsters, so there's your centre and Jennings/Thommo on the wing aren't the fastest pair around.

Packer hasn't been playing great and McQueen is on his last legs.

Now if some guys step up in the meantime, then there's no reason they can't be the replacements, but we are still a few origin/international players away from consistent top 8 finishes.

Momirovski, Talau, Mikale, Aloiai, Garner and a stack of the best young players this club has recruited in years.

People will step up. Its called forward planning and building from within.

I literally just said they might step up...

The way the WT's are building within looks like being the way of the future the so called STARS appear to living in an era of entitlement where managers pee in their pocket tell them how good they are when their not and hold clubs to ransom if the NRL don't step in and enforce contracts and say you sign a 3 year contract its a 3 year contract and impose penalties on clubs players and even managers if contracts are broken other wise this game will be in bigger trouble than it is now

The replies in this really show the lack of faith and belief fans have in their own club to get the deal done. Sure this will be the first big superstar signing of a player in their prime but tigers have signed plenty of superstar players in the past. Just on the tail end
