Latrell deal was done today with Souths. Very reliable source 650k this year and 800k next year.

If so, looks like Roosters got their $150k back off Latrell and Latrell got his $800k contract. Good deal all round. Except Mitchell still owes Bennet $55k he gave to Ruston.

Russel will take care of that.

I only ever got my hopes up because of the fake news around here, but I said it right at the start that it was Souths or nothing.

I think a meeting was set up but latrell didn’t turn up

That’s correct, but LM drove all the way to Coffs for dinner with Rusty... clearly LM had no interest in the WT...

Wow and people still want him here

Yeah, a lot of fake news. But what I want to know is, is it common practice for a club to offer a player a $1m contract without that player having a sit down serious discussion with the coach?
As I’ve previously stated, I don’t really care where Mitchell signs. My concern is mainly centred around the clubs procedural behaviour and clearing up any doubt I may have about that being manifested in our win/loss ratio.
It seems we have one of the best coaches in the NRL , who did very well to get us within a game of playing finals footy. Especially when considering our injury toll.
March cannnot roll around quick enough for me to see what influence Madge has .

Souths signing Laterell will just cost them Doueihi In the long run...

No player that rates themselves as a future representative player is going to be content with riding the bench for more than a half a season. Particularly when they were the starting fullback the season before.

Would love to have him back at the Tigers he was one that got away

So he knocks back a 1.4 mil 2 year offer to agree to a 1.45 mill 2 year offer....

Might have been more to do with removing the club option for the 2nd year

You have to get past their manager first! Hence why many clubs are at odds with some of the managers getting around and also why some of the more mature players are negotiating their own contracts.

He’ll play Centre for Souths, whatever uncle Wayne wants

So Souths original Offer had a second year in their favour?
Surprised he agreed to a $800k deal next year when he values himself as 1m. Thought he was going to roll the dice for next year...

Also do we believe that Uncle Wayne won’t play him at left centre? I’m not so sure he won’t.

Bloody hell he could have made an extra 150k and stayed with the Premiers.

There is a lot more to a contract than the dollars. Latrell may not have wanted to sign with WT contract if it had performance criteria in it. He may have been advised not to meet with WT with Rushton because he was trying to get change managers.
We do not know the full story, just what the people involved tell the media to suit their own goals.
People that say Latrell doesn't want to join WT like its a fact have no idea.

I remember saying ages ago that I could see souths coming in last minute and sign Mitchell but now that he has reportedly rejected souths I have 0 clue where he is gonna go.

We don't need to grovel any more then we have
Latrell knows we want him
Every rugby league fan on this planet knows we want him
We are not going to kiss his backside and beg him to come
If he wants the money he will come
But after all the charades I am not sure it is such a good idea anymore
I just don't think he has a clear head and that will affect his game for some time to come

He's negotiating in the mould of SBW and Hayne...guys that think they are bigger than the game. Hope this whole experience brings him down to Earth, but I won't be holding my breath.

For a guy that could have set himself up on a million bucks a year, he seems to have totally botched it.

I wonder if his pride will get in the way of dialing Tigers HQ to revisit that $1 million contract he was offered?

Will pride get in our way?

Yeah I see what you're saying, but it's like chasing a girl that has knocked you back twice and you won't take no for an answer. You start to look pathetic and desperate and you could even drive them away.

I think we've played it well...the offer is there if you want it...just pick up the phone and it's yours...he know's we haven't gone anywhere.

The big thing to come out of all of this is that he doesn't seem keen to sign on with Souths for less...I think the Tigers know the offer blows everyone else out of the water by a long way...we have simply said when you've finished shopping around, we'll be here with the best value offer. It's up to him to take it though.

Is that the same offer which was canceled on or around 28/11/19?

**So Roosters waive 200k in fees if LM signs with us
That's 500k-600k he'd lose in 2020 by signing with Souths
Still reckon we can get him, hopefully Madge and Pascoe are taking advantage of the situation**
The next 7 days should be pretty interesting
We just really need that 1 marquee signing to get the ball rolling. If we can sign LM you'd think that would all but guarantee JAC as well who will be granted a release at the end of 2020 at the latest
Plus COE next year with a tonne of cap money to spend

With all that advantage to us it would be pretty poor result if he didn't sign, but he seems to be doing everything but sign with us.

We have said we are not calling him again...

Modern players won't do the begging.....we should be on the phone and proactive.

Imagine if the Clippers sat there and said 'Kawhi can call us if he wants to chat'?

All these agents follow the American model. I don't necessarily subscribe to it, but it is reality.

Pick up the phone, be aggressive...sell the Tigers message...sell us as a place a player would want to come...

Don't just say 'well, they can call us if they want'.

LM knows we're interested and he knows what we're willing to pay.
Tigers need to be careful of how a too desperate approach could harm them in future player negotiations. If players and their agents look at tigers management and think 'if we keep on rejecting their offers they'll just come back with a better one', then good luck getting fair value in the future. We'll forever be used as a bargaining tool for players wanting to play hard ball and pump their value to sign elsewhere..
Gotta draw a line in the sand somewhere and I think the club has done everything they need to in regards to the situation

While tigers have 2-3 spots and 1.7 mil in cap space the offer will be there. It’s when they fill those spots that the offer goes away

Really? So the money is on the table and committed to LM as a genuine offer?. If that’s so its news to me.

It’s all smoke and mirrors - Mitchell Management and Souths are conjuring up a fantasy to combat any compensation to the Roosters, who are demanding the $$$ they have paid this slug to go fishing over summer.
He’s off to Souths - just via the Russell Crowe movie script, wait for the crescendo !
