I just hope for latrell and his young family that he is getting his million a year, like we could of given him.
These player managers are ruining the game something fierce.

He might be happier getting $800k and playing consistent finals footy.

Latest story is he’s moving to Souths for 1 year at $400k. Apparently it was more attractive to him than the $1m+ per season offer we presented.

Or the $800k his current club and 2 time premiers offered, there is no way the NRL could allow that if they are not corrupt

But they are corrupt

That's what everyone fails to understand

THEY ARE CORRUPT

THE NRL CEO USED TO RUN THE BULLDOGS

THEY ARE CORRUPT

Sarcastic? Can't tell.

No

Not at all

The NRL is seriously corrupt

I think you are right, they are either corrupt or incompetent, or both, they are certainly not impartial

Yes

I could be wrong

They could be incompetent

Oh sorry

They are too smart to be that dumb

They must be corrupt

I don’t have any inside knowledge but it looks like Mitchell has thrown in the towel like his brother did? If so, what a pitty ? Was looking forward to seeing him play! Particularly for the blues.

If Latrell has signed with Souths for 400K I would be truly sad.
Look I have a soft spot for the hoppy Chickens. Well hey I like my Gamey meat and heck the more pests we can eat the better. Then again as a team I have sympathy for what they have been through. Ofcourse they would be great as the South Australian Rabbitohs but that is beside the point.

Either way the NRL should not register a 400K contract for Latrell. Although we all know how this is going to end.

So who does South's have in their junior ranks that would realise they are blocked by Roberts, Gagai and Latrell? This corruption sucks, we have money. Who is their Ryan Pappenheusensteinin?

Wasn't it corey allen who was picked for prime ministers

Training starts tomorrow, which means the club is up and running for 2020. Which means all the fun and games start again. Who will we sign ans when will we sign them.

Another twist is the Latrell saga? Interesting article from DT's Dean Ritchie contains this

"There is still a push for Mitchell to join Wests Tigers.

The Tigers aren’t feeling any love from Mitchell but the club still has $4m available to pay Mitchell for the next four years. Wests Tigers officials however want Mitchell to contact them – the club is over chasing Mitchell.

Rose is keen to meet with Souths Sydney and Wests Tigers officials this week."

And just when we all thought the nightmare was over!

I think there is way more weirdness left in this saga and if it results in LOLS@SOUFFS, Im all for it.

The only thing that is clear to me is that LM and his entourage encourage this media attention. They are the only ones who could put a stop to it, yet they let it play on, hoping it will play to their advantage.

To be fair, WT have done that ourselves at times, tried to play the media, even with LM himself.

Latrell Mitchell granted leave of absence by Sydney Roosters
By Ben Glover

Latrell Mitchell has been granted a leave of absence by the Roosters, excusing him of all club commitments until further notice. He was due to return to training with the club tomorrow but a clear line in the sand has been drawn with the superstar wanted off the pay roll as soon as possible.

The Mitchell contract saga has been one of the most enduring NRL stories of the summer, with the Roosters pulling an $800,000-a-season offer soon after winning the grand final. That move blindsided Mitchell and his management team and despite interest from a number of clubs and several reported offers of roughly $1 million-a-season over the last two months the 22-year-old is still yet to sort out his future.

Mitchell is still contracted to the Roosters for the 2020 season but they have already started planning for an historic three-peat without him and no longer have the appetite to keep the media circus rolling.

This afternoon the club released an official statement confirming Mitchell had been asked to stay away from training. The statement read: "In lead-up to the club's return to pre-season, Sydney Roosters player Latrell Mitchell has been granted a leave of absence, excusing him from all training commitments. The club will be making no further comment at this time."

According to a report earlier this weekend, South Sydney coach Wayne Bennett is desperate to secure the signature of Mitchell despite publicly denying that his club was in the hunt. However, having recently signed Jai Arrow on big money, the Rabbitohs may no longer have the required room in the salary cap to pay the supersized contract needed to get Mitchell through the door.

Arrow is still signed to the Titans for 2020 but is reportedly keen to get out of the last year of his deal and join the Rabbitohs who need reinforcements in the pack having lost Sam Burgess to retirement. That scenario would put the squeeze on at Redfern which could force Mitchell to look elsewhere.

There is also the added complication of Mitchell's representation, with multiple player agents involved in talks with different clubs about his future.Mitchell has reportedly split with Wayne Rushton to sign with Matt Rose but that in itself is murky with suggestions Rushton is after a juicy pay out figure, which could be up to $140,000.

It all makes for a fascinating start to January with the storyline of the summer to roll on until Mitchell is signed, sealed and delivered to a new club.

Totally agree with you. Then they complain about the negative media impact when they are leaking all the info

The issue is LM and his entourage. The problem is they appear to be incompetent. I don't think it's a deliberate tactic. I don't think LM wants the attention.

This seems to me to have more media attention than Arrows contract which has been going on for ages. Is that just because Latrell is a much better player or is it just that there is a circus around Mitchell.

I think its both to be honest Earl. The highest profile player on the market and at one point seemed to have 5 to 6 people negotiating contracts for him. I think if Latrell had his way everything would have been done behind closed doors but his entourage have made him out to be a fool I think hence why a new manager

If the NRL allows South's to register a minimum contract deal for LM then the salary cap continues to become the joke of all jokes.

I agree, it's a very strong test of their position on reduced contracts. There really hasn't been much of a test previously.

If you think about it from the agent's perspective, would you rather take a cut of Latrell to Tigers @ $4M for 4 years, or Latrell to Souths on some reduced Roosters swap deal for 1 season?

Latrell could quite feasibly crash and burn and blow his demand for 2021.

I'm not sure why Latrell would have some particular fixation with playing for Souths rather than Tigers, with all things NOT being equal, and if I was his manager I'd be very strongly recommending he consider or reconsider the Tigers offer for his own wellbeing, if not just the lining of my own pockets.

Latrell to Souths only helps Souths and Bennett, not Latrell. He has to hope he plays well 2020 and Souths agree to / can clear more money to upgrade him. Which is exactly what Roosters were unable / unwilling to do.

Agree, but there may very well be other reasons why LM has had a significant drop in value? Could Souths argue that he is emotionally unstable and in need of the peer support that only they could provide. .??. Just thinking out aloud?
