I have to admit. After 5 rounds, I thought Liddle was rubbish (he was) and I wanted Simpkin in there. Sinpkin started well but then fell away..

I think Liddle has been better than Simpkin in recent weeks. but not by much. If we could only keep one, I;d keep Simpkin because of age and lack of injury history. I dont think there is much between them, and right now neither is exciting.

I think Liddle has a better attitude of the two.

By much?

A lot, yeah

Simpkin will learn a lot if he has patience and we pay him enough.

About the only guy id invite around for a BBQ.

Seriously hard done by taking the fall for everyone else's incompetence.

Good luck at the Bulldogs or wherever you end up

Please don’t tell me we’ve lost him? The scapegoat? How the hell Madge can expect to remain coach after coaching decisions such as dropping Liddle instead of Mbye the catch and pass distributor and Luke chip kick bomber brooks is beyond me. How he could put Chee kam in the centre’s over Cini or drop Mikaele against Aloai is a mystery I will never ever understand.... Liddle just needed some match fitness and to develop combinations,,,,, but his job was impossible given the flat attack structure and the over running if every single damn play,,,, Cameron Smith would have looked like a park footballer given the attacking structure Liddle had to contend with from Dummy half in weeks one to. 6 FFS !

The only reason I can think of for Liddle being dropped was his timing from dummy half. If it's not consistent players can not run hard because they are slowing down waiting for the pass. I didn't see much else wrong with his game.

It sure made a difference.. . .

Was a weak decision to ONLY drop him.

Did I accidentally wander into the "Sacking Luke Brooks will fix everything" thread again? Those topic titles can be tricky.

Did you carry over your emotions from a Luke brooks thread into this one?

No, but you have been a lot repetitive throughout the years. Are you saying that this time you would not have dropped Brooks?

Having to explain this just shows i was right about you being upset about your mate.

All ive said here and its a very valid point is that Jacob Liddle did not deserve the blame for an under performing team.
If you are happy for one player to bear the brunt of our performances well thatll do me.

The dropping of ONLY Jacob Liddle is the reason we got smashed by Manly.

I think the dropping of only Liddle has more to do with the quality of the replacement.

So MYBE cant be dropped?

I hate this kind of black and white approach. No reason at all Liddle couldnt have played 14.

He was made the scapegoat for the other 16 players. Thats how i see it.

It worked out so well. All the other 16 really repaid the faith the coach showed in them. . .

we did have a great game against souths without Liddle ....
Not having Liddle against Manly made no difference to the result Simpkin went ok.
Liddle to 14 might be good but longterm Hastings probably plays the lock / role of Mmbye and if Mmbye is still here next year then we can't have Liddle Hastings Mmbye and Brooks all in the 17 unless Mmbye plays centre

I don't get that everyone thinks Hastings will be lock. Definately next to Brooks in the halves for mine.

does Douhie stay at centres or maybe he plays lock role

It was fantastic to see Liddle run down RTS when he made a break. He looked surprisingly fast.

All we need from the hooker is fast accurate passing from dummy half and to sometimes run and sometimes get it to Brooks on quick play the balls.

A dominant/controlling hooker like Hodgson or Cam Smith changes the whole roster, you spend less on halves, more on forwards and the back 3.

Wish he used that pace a bit more, needs to jump out and keep defences guessing like Korisau and Cook do

Really? I think Jacob Liddle is every bit as good as Koroisau and Cook; both of them are flat track bullies. Nothing more.

The good thing as well is that Liddle has been injury free since his return

If he stays injury free he is only going to get fitter and stronger ..his best is in front of him and some good offers will come ..i getting the feeling the club might be putting there eggs in the wrong basket.

I'm damn sure they are.

100% agree. He is only going to get better. Has the right never give up attitude (you can’t coach that). I hope the club sees what he is doing.

hope he shows the same loyalty 2 the club as they did 2 him,in clubs favour of course,1 yr deal is ok

Never doubt his loyalty to us Mate.

I am more worried about the Club having any loyalty to him.

Haven't shown much in team selections to date this year. Simpkin was replaced to go and work on his game which has not been very good. Then because he was in the bubble he had to go to Magic Round. When he should have been working on his game last week in Reggies he ended up on the bench. We really became a different team when he replaced Liddle in the second half and didn't regain our mojo again until Liddle came back for the final minutes.

Blind Freddie can see that this kid is not ready for NRL and has a multitude of things to work on - standing with hands on hips after passing the ball from DH is JUST NOT ON! The sooner he starts putting in Effort with a capital E, stops hogging the ball and works out which way he should be passing the ball L or R, works on his speed and passing game, the better.

If we let Liddle go, or insult him with a one year contract - we deserve to lose him and stay in the bottom four.

Loyalty works both ways - they have to give him the opportunity to show loyalty back.

He only has maybe 7-8 years left, he has to look after himself - a lousy 1 year is a joke. If they can't see he is the best DH in the club at the moment they don't deserve him. Would think Robbo is keeping an eye.

I am more worried about the Club having any loyalty to him.

Love your passion Russ, but the club have shown this kid more than enough loyalty, any other club would have cut him loose years back with his injury record, not re-signed him like they did

I believe Liddle is a future WTs' Captain.

Not if they only offer one year - Paws.

I cannot understand it. How many quality NRL players do we have? Not many and Liddle is one of the few.

No problem Mr Liddle
