**STOP PRESS….Latest Garbage.**

Was reported today, that Lote might play Union in France during the NRL's off season and join up and play League later into next season….....one NRL team has been reported to be "ok" with this......the plot thickens

Hey what happend to the last player who wanted to do this…

I think I need to start a thousand SACK David Gallop threads.....TIMES UP DAVID.......IT'S TIME TO GO........

So it is okay for a union player to play part of a season of union then come to league, but it is not okay for a league player (ie Marshall) to play union in the off season. Could someone explain the logic of this?

Gallop's strange response aside, which is a clear contradiction of what he said in relation to Marshall's negotiations with Union, I wouldn't be against making a deal of this sort with Tuquiri… if; it allowed us to sign him for more than one season.

I think our odds just shortened.

Bring on the 103kg 192cm duel international fullback!

agreed. If it is only for one (well 3/4's) of a season then no as there will be a huge disruption when he arrives as he won;t have trained with the squad at all.
Problem is will he want to then go & play union again in the offseason it is exactly the same as what gallop got all whingy about last time (as opposed to pretty close but obviously different due to some unknown gallop reasoning)

I think that with the 'reason' for his sacking being 'leaked' I rekon he'll play league & if he comes later after taking some french cash so be it as long as we get him cheaper or for longer…

If I remember correctly, Benji was not going to be under contract to two codes at once. He was to be off contract at the tigers, go play rah rah, then come back and sign with the tigers. Gallop must stand down.

I don't think Lote turning up in April will disrupt the side at all. Bringing in a half/hooker, sure, but not a full-back or winger.

Bring it on I say. I think he will kill it in tigers colours.

I agree, between this announcement and the story leaking why he was sacked it all seems to be falling into place for an announcement of a deal with an NRL club.

What I'd like to see is him play in France for this summer, come over the League early in the 2010 season and then stay for the 2010/11 summer (i.e. not go back to Rugby) and play again in 2011.

And I hope the club he makes this deal with is the Tigers. I firmly believe that signing Tuquiri would be an unprecedented coup for the club which, when combined with the way the club finished this season, would create massive publicity and excitement for next season.

Just think of the excitement around Sailor's mid-season debut last year. It would be an even bigger story for Tuquiri's return. (At 34 there wasn't as much expectation on Sailor's return as there would be for Tuquiri's.)

and for what it's worth Lote posted on his Twitter account on Friday night enquiring how the Tigers were going against the Dog's.

I thought the article said he was asking how we were going against Parra, which obviously got me a bit confused…

I think that the difference is that our 'great' former CEO told Gallop about the Benji deal, and that the contract with the Tigers was already signed for when he came back, which Gallop saw as Benji being under contract with the Tigers. If he had kept quiet then pulled out Benji's contract from the top draw in March when he got back then, by Gallop's attitude here, everything would have been fine. My guess is that is what we hope to do with Lote (ie stike a deal before he leaves then have him return and sign the contract then instead of being shopped around when he returns).

I just think Gallop sees the publicity benefit for rugby league by getting Tuquiri back to league, and is going to twist his words in anyway to try and reverse his previous stance if it means letting him back into the game.

If it comes down to a choice between Burgess & Tuquiri then I really hope we get Burgess.
Both would be great but for that money we won;t get both.

Wasn't there talk of sending Payten and one other over to England to get room for Burgess.

There may be a chance we will get both. Gee this Burgess character would want to live up to the hype if it did eventuate.

Lets hope we sign burgess and tuqiri.

Tuqiri is a class footballer, and we should be ever so lucky to sign him for even a year.

We are supposedly about $355,000 under the cap for 2010.

Where did you pull that figure from Bug…...

Come on Geo !!! Hahaha ok I'll tell ya. A manager told me 4 weeks ago over a beer that WT had $400K left under the cap for 2010\. He then said to expect to subtract about $40k to $50k for perceived rep player payments etc.
