First time I've ever cheered for the Sharks and Raiders.

Why exactly?

I feel like it’s been repeated a billion times, but until we get someone better that would be terrible business. Nobody even knows if Hastings will cut it in the NRL, he sure as hell didn’t in the 48 games he played for 2 fairly strong clubs

Play the ball not the man.

Been waiting 9 long years for Brooks to get us anywhere.
Every excuse in the book has been used to gloss over the fact that he just doesn’t have it.
I’d gladly take a chance on Hastings than live through more years of mediocrity.
Besides, who knows who else might be in the wings?

I’m not saying Hastings will be a total failure but I don’t have high hopes he can turn the club around. He was an immense failure at two clubs here that had a stack of representatives around him

He’s admittedly done well in England
But like I said he could very well be a flop here as the game is even faster now than before

Keeps Brooks and Doueihi as halves and have Hastings as the bench utility, I think would be the safe option

Then atleast the following year you have mbyes money to go big on a couple of players

Interesting how you come to the conclusion he was an ‘immense failure’ at two clubs here.
He played 34 games for the Roosters over 2 years when he was just a kid and only left Manly because of a fallout with DCE.
Since then he’s won a comp in England, been named Man of Steel and played for Great Britain.
In all that time, and before it, Brooks has taken the Tigers to a big fat zilch.

Brooks would kill it in ESL

Brooks isn't going anywhere

I hope he doesn't I think he isnbetter than Hastings

The NRL is a horrible cut throat business where dirty deals are going on all the time. There was talk about Brooks and the Raiders at least a month ago, so I dare say “where there is smoke there is fire”.

Now if the club thought they could pull off a two for one deal, I guess it was worth a go. It also has to be remembered around that time Brooks was struggling and the team was not going to flash. Since than, Brook’s form has improved out of sights.

Anyway I would not release Brooks unless the offer was to good to refuse in the form of player swaps. It’s pointless just gaining cap space because it would appear we can’t attract players to use up the cap space.

The media and the player management industry are the ones driving most of the drama for their own gain. They both rely on each other to maximise profit.

Either way, it is 100% made up.

Hoops is a weird guy.

Anyone know his history?

I feel like he's trying to find somewhere to belong.
This rugby league is it... except I don't think he's very welcomed.

He puts on too many Aussie slang words that just don't suit. Its kind of like he's acting all the time.

Feel like grabbing him and saying - just be yourself man.

Allegedly he got drunk and jumped on a car. Who is that Hooper?

The guy has no Wikipedia.
No history.

Just appeared on TV one day in 2018.
Yeah drunk hooper jumped on a car.

He's a fraud.

Must have pics of Crawley SR.... that must have ben an ugly sight

May I ask, with no facetiousness, what is this loyalty you are talking about?

Luke Brooks has simply never had his loyalty tested. He signed on early when the Big 3 departed and has managed to keep his job (somehow) ever since. He has never put himself on the market (surprise!) nor has there ever been legitimate news of a club wanting him.

I know he is a Tigers jnr and a lifelong fan, but heck, is there any real reason not to believe that his allegiance to our club is only due to his repeatedly being picked and re-signed? Good on the guy, it's just all too easy.

I was a big fan of his as he rose through the junior ranks and made that amazing debut. But the reality is, no matter how you cut it, in no way does he deserve this star treatment from the fans (or our loyalty) after 8 years of ordinary.

I am sorry, but this badge of loyalty is being thrown around without considering the context and is no more than a romantic idea, manifest by his tenure.

Besides, we are a club that needs to get real. Whether you love Brooks or not, the reality is he has not led the team (albeit a crap team) to anywhere but mediocrity. In truth, he has never led the team at all. He has had more than his fair share of chances too - more than any other team would have afforded him.
Something simply has to give. Maybe for his fans he would be seen as the scapegoat. But maybe it should be time for his fans to perhaps consider that there are only a few constants in all these lean years of utter Tigers crap and to embrace the possibility of change.

We need to recognise the sunk costs. Time to man-up and cut our losses. Keeping Brooks makes no sense to me at all. It just tells the fans that management refuse to learn, refuse to change, and that we are happier losing with supposed "loyalty" than getting on with the business of modern professional sport and focusing on winning.

And anyway, what good did loyalty ever do for us?

Call me a Brooks basher, but I just want the same thing we all want: to win.

Just on a side note ....Madge thinks highly of Brooks...all the crap rumours can go to hell until I hear he is leaving...by an announcement OFFICIALLY from the club...full stop...

I have no idea if he thinks he is better than Hastings though i sincerely hope he does because all halves need that belief in themselves.I agree with you i believe he is better

That is a long post to state you don't care about loyalty and get in some cryptic hack against Brooks.

I'd suggest most people on here care a lot more about wins than loyalty.

I’d gladly take a chat on Hastings than live through more years of mediocrity.
Besides, who knows who else might be in the wings?

You have no idea . It’s just because you’re sick of him, nothing to do with his ability. You and snake dislike him so much , it’s to a point of being personal . Or you have an issue with his family . It’s hate for hates sake , hidden by a thin visage of it being about “mediocrity”.

The closest thing I have to brooks was , when he was at holy Cross , I lived around the corner from there . Before you call me his mother or uncle or whatever family member lol

Ever thought of writing fiction stories?
You don’t even seem to read a post before jumping in to defend your old mate Luke and waffling on without actually addressing the post.
I don’t hate him, nor do I have any issues with him that don’t relate to his value to the team.
You can dream up any scenario you want to justify criticism levelled towards him but none of it relates to hate… and really, who cares what your relationship to him might be?
I hope he leaves and will wish him well wherever he ends up.
But then again, you are the self appointed expert…I have no idea.

LOL whatever champ! Self appointed expert ? Because I point out how crap your takes are ? That doesn’t make me an expert . Far from it . I’m just giving you , what you gave me , for no reason. Tell us again how Hastings is better than brooks . How youre smarter than the whole nrl ? No one is death riding Hastings , that’s some next level Nadia Cominci type mental gymnastics there buddy. We are calling out people like you , who are actively death riding brooks .

If Brooks was released, it could be the last straw for many supporters. The only consistent player in the side for a long time.

This is probably the result of irrisponsible journalism. Probably Rickie or somebody offering a swap, that was probably laughed at, and the media worms like Buzz twisted the offer around. At least i hope so, as the damage this will cause, if true or not, is not what this club needs.
If the club did not make this approach, they must clear the air.

Bulldogs have finished well below us for the last 4 years. Same deal with the Cowboys. You hardly hear anything negative about them.

I suppose it’s because of the big supporter base we have but the attacks are relentless and really hurting the club’s ability to attract players.

18 years of mediocrity will do that.

It's more than that it's player managers and media not happy tigers don't pay their player# overs any more clearly have an agend against current decision makers of rhe club

When the guy at the top keeps talking publicly flapping the gums so to speak it just gives them ammunition. I don't disagree that there is an agenda, but it's not something from this year. It's been going on for near a decade (getting worse) and in that time the Chair, CEO, coaches and players have all changed. The only constant is the board. What happened tonight was disrespectful, unnecessary and to be honest gave me the shits however we keep bringing this crap on ourselves. I've been a broken record on this but there is a distinct lack of leadership in this club. The one thing Kent said that is accurate is Wests Tigers still haven't worked out what Wests Tigers is. It's ridiculous after 2 decades to still not have worked it out. Hopefully Sheens can do something, but i won't be holding my breath.

The main example of not working out what the club is how about 6 home grounds .. this is a BOARD issue settle on a home .

Yes mate for the 100th time after the anz stadium deal is finished

He signed on earlier, not early. As soon as he did Cleary pulled the offer to Moses. Fact was both Brooks and Moses had their deals on the table for 12 months, so whilst he may never have wanted to leave, he didn't commit as easily as you make out.

Managers are parasites much like the journos and the players are too lazy to control their own affairs. Loyalty has been slowly dismantled since their influence has taken control of negotiations. Pretty sure we would have a better success rate if they were not involved.

There is no way I would stop supporting the Tigers if Brooks left.

Whilst I am not sure that we cannot still have a game at each of our founding club's home grounds, I see the quotes at the bottom of each post from I think @innsaneink and @Spartan117 from Pascoe? in 2015, which leaves me disenchanted that six years later it remains up in the air.
