I don't think they bought Hastings to play anywhere but 5/8.
At that time , we had Mbye who wasn't performing. AD has shown promise in this area, and who plays where will depends on how they all perform next year.
As for the Brooks haters, i have yet to see your possible replacement 1/2. Please show me your wisdom.

WHO ? We have trouble buying anyone, and the top halves are in the million a year bracket, and won't come here anyway.

I have to admit that I was annoyed with how Brooks was playing for so many years, but this year I am happy with how he is playing.

He could improve alot and hold the ball more and have his own runs - but really comparing him towards everyone else in the same position in the league, I believe he is in the top 3.

I feel like it’s been repeated a billion times, but until we get someone better that would be terrible business. Nobody even knows if Hastings will cut it in the NRL, he sure as hell didn’t in the 48 games he played for 2 fairly strong clubs

Basing anything about how I ‘feel’ is the same as it being my opinion.
It’s my opinion… and once again you’re free to have yours.
Yes, Brooks has improved his defence over the years, yes he has some pace.
A football reason why I think he should go?
Has he ever displayed anything that even looks like game management or shown he might lead us to a semis spot in the last 9 years?
No.
Is he a noted try scorer or kicker?
No.
Does he inspire the players around him when the going gets tough?
No.
Has he improved when obstacles (players/coaches), supposedly holding him back, are removed so he can say he owns the team?
No.
Is it time to try something new?
Of course.
That’s my opinion… obviously it won’t be yours.

we could grab lomax and then still have the cash for a Brandon Smith or something and haven't lost anything we have Maden in reserved if a half is needed

But Wests Tigers problems, all of them are personified by Luke Brooks. Once we get rid of Brooks then everything will magically become better, and we'll win a premiership. We don't even need a halfback, just throw anyone in there, even if they're worse, and it will still work out better. Makes sense.

If Brooks was released, it could be the last straw for many supporters. The only consistent player in the side for a long time.

He’s been a bit up and down throughout his career but it’s no surprise to me that’s he’s playing consistently well behind some decent go forward, which we haven’t always had.

A few things on Brooks.

- nobody has ever accused the Tigers of not being able to score points while Brooks has been the chief playmaker. Too many critics of his attacking play while it’s clearly not our biggest struggle.

- he gets his body in front in defense and I’d say he’s one of the better defensive halves

- he is an introvert which isn’t necessarily a bad thing going forward when you consider Doueihi’s personality - they may just complement each other.

- he has had pretty weak second rowers to play alongside. Would be good to see him strike up a partnership with someone like TPJ.

If they move him on he’ll get a chance to play finals and I’d be happy to see him have success, and meanwhile we’ll hitch our trailer to Jackson Hastings. How Wests Tigers is that!

The repeated suggestions of this being the "last straw", or that you'd no longer support the Tigers if Brooks was shipped only typify the immaturity attributed to Brooks fandom and perpetuate the idea that not only is Brooks fandom irrational, but it is highly unproductive.

Fact is, if your support is so tied to this one player then you aren't a fan of Wests Tigers, you are just a fan of Luke Brooks.

I'm glad Hastings is coming and I reckon Brooks has been our best player. We need to perform better. If Hastings is playing better than Brooks and Brooks gets dropped and we win more games I reckon that is awesome.
