Madge Maguire - Mega Thread

I remember getting myself and others getting downvoted for suggesting we don't extend Madge until results deserved such as we were getting worse.

There’s a feeling inside the club that the Tigers have a better and more balanced roster than they did in 2020, yet they are going backwards at a rate of knots. One of the questions set to be asked in the coming days is why perceived improvements in the roster aren’t being met with improvements in performance.

That's a fair enough assessment - most comments on here were the past off season has been our best in recent history for signings.

The question has to be asked why the performances aren't reflecting the improvement in roster.

I don't agree with the last sentence. Madge is trying to change the culture of the playing group. For way to long the players have had the say in running things and often to the overall detriment. Madge is trying to instil a winning culture. If Madge needs to break this playing group to achieve that cultural change then so be it. Those that don't buy in can leave. We have the break the cycle of letting the playing group get away with mediocrity, and then blaming the coach for their poor performance. The playing group need to be more professional in their approach and do what is needed to win.

Madge's hard nose approach is exactly what the club needs at this point in time. If it means we run last to do it then we run last. It's the cycle and culture that needs breaking and re-engineering.

If we change coaches now it might be a short term fix and we might achieve short term results but it won't fix the problem. We will remain a second tier team rather than a powerhouse.

Well said Mike and agree.. Unfortunately because it been like 10 years he will be gone and will make the jobs of others safe again ( same circle) ... The players need to be handed a realty check with the real world as what they dish up is a joke and all they want to do is offence not Defence. Fans and coaches would be happy to win 1-0 but our players want to win 46-44 and not put body on the line. Simple as that..

Then if he is gone it will be the same old same old. Nothing will ever change and no future coach would ever try again.

If they make Madge another scapegoat for the clubs inability to develop a winning culture, again it shows the stupidity of our board. It is so frustrating to watch our two highest paid players continually deliver rubbish.

I wonder if the film crew (doing the west’s tigers documentary ) will be allowed access to the boardroom over the next 48 hours.
It’s supposed to allow the viewer full access to the inner circles of the club .
Such access would be priceless .

I want him to stay but how do we attract players here when this is what we put out? Something is not right as under Madge we were supposed to be one of the fittest teams (cause he is a so called hard task master) and be able to make these new rules changes suit us..

Why not just make a play for Bennett?

Would he come? I doubt it. The club is toxic and we need someone to find out why. No player with his weight wants to come over, we attract rejects (exception is Laurie but his days must be numbered), nor can we keep our juniors. It is truly sickening. And I hating losing.

No coach can turn this club around as it sits. Pascoe must go with Madge.

For me we need a person manager for the moment - give John Morris a go and we must have a review of the club as a whole.

If you sack Madge, you sack the team. The whole place is an embarrassment. I couldn't give a crap if the front of office is making money. We need to win games or we may as well change our business to something else. Its getting ridiculous how bad we are and how much longer do we put up with it. I'm almost done. Personally don't think we should sack him but here's a thought

We've got spots open next year and are in a good spot salary cap wise. If Madge spends that cap and then gets sacked, whoever comes in has to rebuild all over again

If we get a new coach now then he can straight away sign players he wants with the cap we've got available. Might end up better long term
