The ultimate test is...where would Saints be with Mary?

They'd be where we are...

They made the change and brought in an actual coach / a tactician and it has worked.

We need a change, desperately. A real coach (teach how to play / tactics)...not just a motivator (the speeches only work first 12 months / no longer work)

We need a change.

I dont understand how a tactician will help a mob who cannot grasp the fundamentals... No coach can get us out of this quagmire, its a lack of personal resilience at the player level, its a weakness in some of these players resolve as human beings.

^^^^^^This.

So your happy to put up with this every week

We've put up with it for 10 seasons. Sacking the coach has clearly not improved things.

I posted on the Forum the day Maguire had signed with WTs as a colleague still had close links to Souths and told me. What I didn't post was his reply when I asked him about what he would be like which I remember well - not the coach for WTs' style of football.

What is our style of football?

His philosophy is train hard and play hard imo a more modern approach would be to train smarter and play a more modern style. Rugby league is more a science these days and doing full contact at training and running laps is not a modern approach maybe the club needs to back the players on this one.

Not looking good for him

Great article, just proves Madge had no man manager skills, and is still stuck in 2014, those results are horrendous, time to go I am afraid

It leaves out the part where players disagreed with Benji causing a big argument.

At this point I’d take an underhanded, conniving coach who players respond to and who would put in place good defensive structures.

Come on down Shane Flanagan!

I noticed that Madge got asked something in the post game press conference like “who is to blame or something like what do you need to look at”

With him replying starts with the players .. paused and also said staffing aswell..

So obviously some of the staff aren’t doing something right, which I honestly could point my finger at Lee hagipantelis or Pascoe..

Reason I say this is that they always come out of no where and talk crap and I believe they’d be the ones saying something behind the doors like “you can drop bla bla bla and bring in bla bla bla”

My thoughts

I actually thought he was referring to himself and the coaching staff when he said that.

Not Maguire ball. IC had us playing well, but he has that ability that attracts players.

He was referring to our open attacking style honed by Sheens and enjoyed by many WTs' fans and other RL suppirters.

If Madge goes, sobeit,we move on with a new coach and hopefully he has success that atm we are not getting...
However,if he has results the same as Madge,do we judge him the same way and demand he gets sacked after 2/3 seasons with no finals and nothing but whinging, moaning and bellittling him as we have Madge..where does that leave us...IN THE SAME PLACE...
Madge has developed the junior pathway, signed talented young players mixed in with older players..he is trying to mend a broken club left shattered by sacked coaches a coach who was "on the bus'' and spent ridiculous amounts on players he wanted that would suit his coaching style and then jumped off the bus mid stream to find something better which he always had..his son at Panthers..
I can understand the disappointment by many on here,I also see that Madge can coach players to become NRL level players,Harry Grant comes to mind,Laurie was a great get just as we needed a fullback and is doing well...
We have a very young immature roster with experience mixed in,Im more than happy to see the end result after this season before supporting the "sack Madge"squad..
We also have a number of origin players,Tamou,Joe O,Mbye,Roberts and they are maybe not coping with the youth surrounding them, who really knows what mentally is happening with the team who are under pressure to perform, the seasoned players must react positively to their performances so as the younger ones become tougher NRL performers playing with heart and soul for the jersey and understanding what it takes to play at this level...I just dont think its all Madges fault, his staff, players as well all contribute to the lack of success we are having.....

People really have the blinkers on in regard to the quality of this side atm. We have a 19 and 20 year old in our spine with less than 10 FG games between them and with a new half/ 5/8th combo led by a player who consistently doesn't rise to the occasion.
They played well last week against the front runners. Manly was going to be a tough assignment just like it was for the Titans the week before. Holbrooks team had has 76 points scored against them in two weeks with a much more fancied squad playing the same two teams. Some perspective needed.
Sacking the coach will nilly with no replacement reeks of basket case especially when you reflect on the quality of the squad.

I don’t really understand what people were thinking was going to happen this year. You look at our roster, and it’s miles weaker than any of the top teams. We have a completely unproven spine with blokes who have spent little to no time (except brooks) in those positions at nrl level. Last year we had the luxury of an ex international and premiership winner in benji and probably now the best hooker in the game in grant. But this was all just false hope as having grant and to a lesser extent benji made it seem like things were going much better than they were. It’s completely unsurprising that we got pumped yesterday - look at the two teams, there’s no comparison man for man. Manly is full of current and past origin and international players. Unfortunately the tigers have to play completely out of their skin just to compete with that roster and they used it all up last week against the bunnies.

Not too many coaches can keep their jobs when not winning games. Then look at the same coach losing games on average with a 30 plus differential and I will say dead man walking.

There are blowout scores everywhere 6 games teams had 30 -40 points scored against them this weekend alone. The new fast game.
Who is the interim to take over? Who is the person prepared to take it on? A smart organsation would never just sack someone without a contingency and if they do then they are idiots and still letting Benji pull the strings.

In 2017 the best he could do was 12th with a team that included Sam Tom and George Burgess, Cody Walker, Alex Johnston, Adam Reynolds, Damien Cook, Angus Crichton and Cameron Murray.

In one of the last games of the year they lost to Melbourne 64-6. They capitulated. And that was the end of him... Eerily familiar.

5 coaches, 5 different coaching styles, 5 different teams – all the exact same results. This goes beyond changing a coach and the evidence is there as proof. There is mediocracy in the walls at this club and whether it be subconscious or not, no matter who pulls on the jersey knows winning is not an expectation and just scraping by is considered the normal.

No matter who has coached:
- We have seen talented players sign only to suddenly play mediocre
- We have constantly lost games we are expected to win
- We have always blown large leads to lose a game
- We have not learnt how to defend in 20 years of existence
- Players have always run this club

This is more than who is our head coach – club has no identity. We are a laughingstock not only among fans but amongst other clubs/players. Everyone knows you can get an easy win out of the tigers. This club needs a complete overhaul from top down. This includes:
1. Fix the home ground issue, I used to never have a problem with this but now things must change. We gather little to no home ground advantage when moving somewhere new every second week. We need to play in a larger stadium with better facilities.
2. We need to spend/go hard out for a power board – we need to go hard at other successful clubs/sporting organisations CEO’s, board members/any front of office staff members. Easier said than done I know, but we need a BIG name here – Imagine securing the services of a Storm CEO standard person, look at other sporting codes if need be, big businesses – whatever gets the job done. The entire office needs to be cleaned out and big money needs to be spent employing the best of the best.
3. Club needs to front up to its fans and members. I understand we have this ‘fly on the wall’ documentary coming out – but the clubs needs to do more in addressing our issues to its members. We are all losing faith, I would like to see the coach, CEO and players front up to member Q&A nights (similar to a share holders meeting) where 100% honest answers can be given to REAL questions. We get told the cliché “we’re working hard” but none of this can be seen.
4. We need that one superstar signing - We are investing big on youth which I like, but as each game goes on im starting to feel this is going to be needed to not only draw more youth but hopefully break the continuous cycle were in. Gareth Ellis was a perfect example of this, one player can make a huge difference.
5. Our team selections no matter who is coaching have ALWAYS been terrible. Why is this? We are constantly picking players out of position, overlooking young guns to put a MCK, Kyle Lovett into a position like centre. It has always been clear as day to our fans who should be playing where, but every coach always sees differently.

Have always been positive and defended decisions made by this club but honestly becoming so sick of this. Can’t even mention im a Tigers fan without a comment or joke about our club coming my way. Us fans need to see real changes across the entire organisation.

Rant over lol.

On the money. Not against changing coaches but I don't see how it changes anything.... this is bigger than just who's coaching.

They should sack whoever re signed Musgrove for 3 more years.

I can not believe Madge didn't hook him during the game.

Madge has done plenty of good off the field but hasn't translated into results. Got rid of a lot of the deadwood, freed up a lot of salary cap, signed quite a few promising rookies.

Bugger has had the same issues as every other coach we've had the last decade, can't get the players to give a crap when they're on the field

I don’t know whether it’s because he’s the NZ coach but we do have way too many Polynesian in our squad... always have IMO. Lacking in strategy and smarts in both D & A. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again....
How many premierships have the NZ warriors won??
Kind of didn’t help when we signed a former warriors coach either just quietly.

What a sooky brat.

Is this speculation. I agree if it is legit

That is a pretty flat out racist thing to say frankly.
