Tim Sheens returning got me thinking of something.

A month or so ago when people were calling for Madge's head, and others were saying we need additional coaching staff, there was a myth doing the rounds to the effect of 'Madge doesn't want good or high profile assistants because he is paranoid about getting replaced by them'.

This is obviously rubbish, because he'd previously tried to bring Laurie Daley to the club.

Laurie isn’t a good coach.

If I had to choose between John Morris and Laurie Daley as our coach I would choose the latter.

He failed as nsw coach and hasn’t landed an NRL gig. Tells you something.

How many clubs has he applied for a coaching position with?

I’m not sure. I remember he went for a role overseas a couple of years back.

It seems to me that @Telltails argument is a fair bit stronger than yours Avo, as to whether Laurie Daley is a good coach or not.
Or maybe closer to the point is... your statement is pretty weak.

He’s never been an NRL coach. Apart from a few games for country NSW his only coaching appointment has been for NSW where he was fired. Do you have reason to believe he’s a good coach?

I have no idea if he is a good coach or not, but Madge wanted him, so that to me suggests he would have done a good job in the field Madge wanted him for.
You seem to be very strong with your negative view of Daley, but imo you dont have strong evidence to support your view.

Simply, he doesn’t like the current coach?

Yup. Doomsayer from the get go.

Incorrect. My problems with Madge came when we started losing all the time.

Pretty fickle if you ask me?

To keep supporting coaching that has us consistently losing with little improvement is pretty stupid if you ask me.

It’s never where you start, it’s where you finish.

What a cop out

You dont see improvement in the team, the squad, the systems?

I think it's weird how he took 12 rounds to do what we ALL knew was the logical thing to do.

Joe at 13
6 is Mbyes best position.

I see an improvement in recruitment without question. I think his selections, use of interchange and structures in game have been pretty awful.

I’ll add to that that our roster this year is a huge improvement on what he inherited, but we’re not travelling as well.

6 is Mbyes best position.

I think that is revisionist hindsight. Nearly everyone to the man thought Mbyes best position was 14 or 19. A small number (me included) thought his best position was 1. When Madge named Mbye at 6 the entire forum melted down and thought he was insane.

He was 100% right obviously, like a good coach. There have been a number of times where Madge has had the team going in one direction and when it becomes obvious its not working, made hard decisions and always improves the team. IMO that is good coaching, adapting and improving. It is fairytale fantasy stuff to suggest "He should have got it right from the start"

Well I must be the rare one who have always stated Moeys best position is 6.
#Genius

I should be the coach.

Its possible and maybe you are a genius, but it is a LOOONG way from the truth to say we ALL knew that based on the TEam List thread that day.

FWIW I have always said that Mbyes best feature is his passing game. I actually think he has the best pass in the team and I thought it would work well at 1 except he cant catch bombs and we bought a better one.

The turnaround on Mbye and Brooks in this forum has been incredible and I hope it lasts. IMO its a reflection on Madge.

This is obviously rubbish, because he'd previously tried to bring Laurie Daley to the club.

Passing game, as you mentioned, quite good.
Good running game too.

You love a good argument but there isn't really an argument here to be had.

It's a shame he's out tomorrow and we gotta suffer Billy "Superstar" Walters at 6 ?‍♂️

Yeah, he's a gun.
But as we all saw, the teachers pet Brooks doesn't gel with him because Douihei overcalls him or whatever and Brooks goes back in his shell.

Common over the years with pairings with Benji, Mitch Moses, etc.

Brooks needs a less overpowering 6 for him to shine which just so happens to be Mbye.

What's best for the team brah....

Sorry if I was incorrect re from the get go but you do seem to be like a dog on a bone in your criticism of him. I think we are on the up but it has taken time.

I don’t think he’s a particularly good coach.

Entitled to your opinion but he must be alright if he's won premierships in two different competitions. I think we're starting to see his influence coming to the fore atm. It would appear the club is finally getting it's act together.

And if we start winning no one will be happier than me. But I couldn’t care less about what he’s done in the past.

It's an interesting way of perceiving ability.

Well I must be the rare one who have always stated Moeys best position is 6.
#Genius

I should be the coach.

You're banned to often to be effective 🙂 🙂 🙂

His results in Origin shows me enough.

Reminds me of Brett Kenny. Great players but not much happening between the ears, and couldn't coach under 6s to a wooden spoon.

Kenny and Sterling where the best halves combination i have seen.Brett may not be the smartest bloke in the world but i would rate him above W.Lewis any day on the field
