Madge appears to have survived the cut, not so much his assistants. The support staff will not be in Madge's complete control but more or less club appointed, with the review under lining that they are well past the current game.
Player support was high & will be a major supporting factoring in Madge staying.
Player support was high … of course there is no ramifications for there failures on field and will continue to earn massive money .
How on earth could Maguire not be sacked this has to be a gee up !
What sought of review after 3 seasons of failure with different assistants recommends that the mediocrity that has engulfed all before it recommends that the coach continue this would be astounding .
I suppose this is not surprising from a very lack lustre organisation! and set to continue throw the towel in guys and Re locate and do us all a favour..
One of the findings of the review was that the players voted unanimously to play exclusively out of WSS

So what’s the point of sacking him then?
If sacking fixes nothing I don’t get the point
Cause you want to change the next 5 years not the next year. Need to look for coach or players
I still think our bigger issue is weak minded individuals in the team. Much harder to fix though.
Weak minded or largely fractured and disgruntled because non performing players on massive salaries weren’t contributing?
If that’s the case we’ve got even bigger issues than we think. If any of our players aren’t putting in because someone’s earning more than them and they don’t think they should be then pack ya bags son, that kind of crap will do more damage than any coach.
Most of those highly paid under performing players have moved on now so if there’s fractures due to that issue they should be resolved.
Every club has players who earn more than guys beside them and it’s not always representative of output or form. They need to grow up a bit. It’s like a child crying because their sibling got more ice cream than they did.
No other club has butchered marquee money like we did.
Disagree. Probably more than half the clubs have messed up in periods. It’s just they get out of it quicker than we have.
Name me a club has paid players as bad a Packer , Mbye and Reynolds between 700-900K for four years at the same time.
The Dogs a few years ago. They had Tony Williams, Trent Hodkinson and Greg Eastwood on the books at similar figures.

Mate, he is waiting for a job.
How does everyone think Fittler would go as an NRL coach?
I may be wrong, but I think Bare Foot Freddie would be a dud.

I really like him as a bloke and have long been a supporter, but it does get to a point where you wonder where the improvement is coming from. Also wonder how its going to improve recruitment.
I was probably hoping for a change of coach but having said that it would depend a hell of a lot on who the replacement was. Would prefer Madge over Flanno, Morris, Green. Would prefer Ciraldo or Bennet over Madge.

To me it’s not as if changing coaches will delay us by months or years, it will make no difference. We’re basically starting off preseason with a clean slate regardless.
Surely that's pretty naive considering what we just went through post-Ivan?
What were the worst and most damaging outcomes of having Cleary walk out? It was the sudden and dramatic change in roster strategy, coaching style, potential long-term planning for the first grade and junior players.
Name the players brought to the club during the short period of Ivan Cleary's tenure 03/Apr/17 to 28/Oct/18?
* Packer - huge financial drain and flop after his first season
* Robbie Rochow - managed about half a decent year, then fell right off
* Pita Godinet - no further comment
* Matulino - tried hard, medically retired
* Josh Reynolds - tried hard, always injured, waste of money
* Fonua - average output
* Moses Mbye - never matched his pay packet
* Tyson Gamble - barely used
* Ryan Matterson - signed under Ivan, quit after a year
* Oliver Clarke - average backup
* Chris McQueen - also probably not an Ivan-initated signing, but must have been okayed as he signed after Ivan was named coach (2 weeks)
* Tui Lolohea - played 19 matches only
* MWZ - played 25 matches, followed Ivan back to Penrith, now retired
* Twal - technically joined during Ivan's time (4 weeks after), probably not initiated by Ivan, but a good get
* Corey Thompson - fine player, no issues
* Momirovski - also no issue with that signing
Development players
* Kane Bradley - gone
* Jock Madden - average halves backup (technically not development)
* Zac Cini - very average back
* Tommy Talau - probably long-term first grade capable
* Alex Seyfarth - probably most improved under Madge
It can be said without argument that the vast majority of signings made under Cleary were bad long-term outcomes for Tigers, and most of the average short-termers were moved on under Madge.
Whether or not you agree with Tigers moving on Momirovski, Thompson, Gamble etc., the fact remains they were not retained under the new regime.
And that's the primary issue. Change the coach and you end up crossing through about half (or more) of your roster, who were bought for a specific purpose to play under a specific strategy. This is especially true of a low-ranked club like Tigers who are trying to cobble together a competitive roster and don't have the luxury of a significant number of experienced / rep-level players who can maintain the club culture and their own personal output during a change in head coach.
If we sack Madge, so be it, but we can't be naive that a significant number of his decisions may be significantly negatively impacted. The new coach is very unlikely to be a consistently proven top-tier coach, who would be most likely to be able to get better outcomes from an unchanged roster. Instead it's likely to be a middle-range coach (at best), who would look to stamp their mark on the roster and shake up the style of play.
That "shake up" will not work with a significant number of the average NRL players we have, and the work with those players will be lost. It happens every time you change head coach, the roster gets overhauled by default. You might well say that's a good thing, but it's not as if we get a clean slate - we will have a Maguire hangover for at least 12-18 months.

This to me is a really significant part of that article. If true, I am really happy with it. Madge will have no choice but to work closely with Sheens and a young coach will benefit from his experience and knowledge of the club.

Ciraldo is the only coach out there worth moving Madge on for. All other options are not worth it.
I know it sounds ruthless, but need to enquire Ciraldos interest. If he is keen, then we make the move I think. If he isn't, Madge is still the best option available
