do you all remember when this club with the same board signed brad takarangi at the end of last year..when jt joined the club he then decides in his wisdom not to go through with the signing.so brad signs for Parramatta and guess what…we pay a large portion of his contract.i know he isn't any world beater but why on earth did we sign him in the first pace and then release him and pay his contract with parra..and lovely marina says the mess isn't any of her doing.

I find this very hard to believe.

Takarangi didn't leave the club, he was told that he wasn't wanted, , after signing with us.
So it's not unlikely that parra is paying all his contract. It's probably true that we were still paying a part of hie money
That stuff up was talked about here at the time.

no speculation…he signed a 3 year deal to play for us but when jt became coach he didn't want him due to attitude problems at the roosters when both were there.so we released him to parra and we sign the majority of his contract.mayer was ceo with the same board now saying hard decisions need to be made due to cap problems.i am no businessman but bloody hell what is going on.

It seems that this scenario keeps popping up with this jerk.
Then again , the money's not coming out of Taylor's pocket, so why would he care?

Don't you understand Gallagher, he does have a club, Wests Tigers, unless they pay him out early . you see, he signed a contract that he'd play here. And so did the club, it's not complicated . He's honouring his side, and the club should as well
I just hope that other players realise now that the clubs can't just shuffle players around like possessions when they want to change their mind halfway through a contract.
Looks like he's got plenty of leverage to me .
I had a mate on Sunday say that he's glad that there is a WT club as it makes his club (Cronulla )look extremely professional .

Interesting contrast that some people say WT should be loyal to Farah and the service he's given, but if Taupau asks for a release, that same loyalty should apply considering how greatly we've increase his market value in 2 seasons.

If Marty goes, I'll miss that good 20 minutes he provides, in typical Tigers fashion.

I agree, he should stay, not because of any loyalty crap( we already know that doesn't exist),
But because he signed to be here.
But He should have been tied up straight after his kiwi game,
It's not hard though to see why he wants to get out of here though..

Marty is a long way off being the consistent back rower than he probably already thinks he is. It's funny as fans we only remember the good stuff. All year he's been starting and gassed after about 15 minutes. How's he gonna go with 2 less interchanges (that will be taken from the back row) next year? 80 minute back towers will be like gold and Marty is only effective for 15 at a time. I think Jesse was fantastic at lock in the few games he had there.. He's not as dynamic as Marty, (when Marty is dynamic) but more of a grinding worker that's more effective for a longer period of time. Either way, we pulled Marty from ressies at the dogs, we came second last WITH Marty… How much worse can next year be? If say we'll use other clubs desire for him to our advantage and send some trash with him - or get something we need in return.... Maybe we'll swap him to the Titans for a Sydney born strike centre they may have... Who knows. But if he's too good for us, then he best be off...

Batboy, so it is Taupau's turn to cop a serve (after Farah)?

Taupua attracts fans to games and puts dollars in coffers. His 20 minutes on the filed is better than some 40 mins from other players. He offers impact off the interchange, an area where we always appear to struggle. He is one of our senior players and is an international. Gold Coast and Souths want him which should be enough to warn you something is badly amiss at our club.

Yeah we have plenty of players that terrorise the opposition, we won't miss him.
Maybe with a good pack around him and a better coach, with the right conditioning, he'l be on the field longer.
Now that's an innovation isn't it, a coach who actually improves players, wonder where we can get one of those?

Marty has to work on his aerobic fitness not bigger biceps and chest …limited interchange means a greater fitness level will be required ,maybe another player that has been told some truths what needs to be done to compete next year ..hopefully not another dummy spitter .

Thanks for highlighting this issue. Further proof if needed of the inability of Taylor to be able to have positive relationships with players and therefore make best use of their talents.

Just about every club in the NRL will chase him. The Warriors are keen and I would imagine if Taylor stays we will have difficulty retaining him.

I think if Taylor stays we will have difficulty retaining all of our players

Now now young fella, did you forget that JT is cleaning out the deadwood, reinventing the wheel and introducing defensive structures, most importantly he has belief.. Our for and against improved in 2015, statistical proof end of story..

He's the only forward we've got who can break the line at real pace plus he's under contract. He should not be granted a release, if in fact , he has requested one. To release him would defy belief given our poor roster.

To me it is yet another example of the problems within the club.We dont have many internationals or soo players but to actively tell one to go and find another wants to leave smacks of gross incompetence with the decision makers.
With the current line of thinking we will not have any class players left at the club

He has the 'potential' to dominate.

But isn't he 25 or so? He isn't going to improve dramatically from this point in his career. He's a 'shock trooper' type player, one which can be effective in the right team.

He is not going to make this side a finals team.

He's the Kiwi Dave Taylor.

Suaso Sue is a much more promising and well rounded forward. Ava is a better prop.

You could probably get the same kind of impact, over the course of a full season, from someone like JJ Felise.

Losing Tapau does not sink the club. He's an extremely well built, athletic guy. And likeable.

But he's not the saviour of this club. The Tigers need professional, hard nosed players to give them a winning edge. And to bring the best out of the young players in the club.

I would not consider Tapau's flamboyant 'big plays' hard nosed or consistant enough.

I would like to keep him, but not if it's going to send us over the edge again. This club has long paid overs for the wrong players and while Taupau does provide impact, I don't necessarily think he's the man to keep on huge coin while we need another decent front rower, second rower and centre. For mine they are significantly more important than keeping Taupau on at top dollar.

Tough question about whether we keep Martin ??

He is a great marketing /membership tool and the kids just love him and as much as people can say its not important , it does carry some weight

My young fella wants a War Machine jersey , but only because Taupau wears it

On field he can go missing when we really need him to take a dirty hit up when the boys are buggered

But what is Taupau worth , that's the big question The game is about to change and he mightn't be worth a great deal if he can't change with the game and play bigger minutes effectively

Maybe the club and Taylor have seen enough and believe he isn't capable of being effective under the new rules and interchange ??

But either way its a big call
