Martin Taupau - Discussion Thread

If we've let Tapau go for nix thats ridiculous, i understand he didnt want to play for us and all the rest of it frankly i dont blame him loyalty is a two way street, but to get nothing in return i cant fathom.
Talk of Balin is rubbish how can you have 3 first grade hookers Robbie isnt going hopefully Cherrington is staying. I really hope theres some sort of silver lining thats not been revealed yet but knowing WT theres none…

NothingButWT saying on Twitter that Marty has been trying to get a release for 2016 since Round 1\. Was originally going to Titans before the DCE backflip but since has been trying to organise to join manly. DCE gets what he wants apparently :/

Yeah well if that's the case then screw him. If a nobody signs a contract with a club, and becomes a star then he's entitled to his payday, after his existing contract expired. Wanting out the minute you get good? That's just soft.

Also nothingbutWT suggests there's a second part of the deal which makes him very happy. Surely no-one would be remotely happy if Ballin signed, so maybe there is someone we're getting in return???

Pretty certain it is Matt Ballin BB. NothingButWT is not a Farah fan and would love him gone.

From RLW :

On a day of high drama between the two clubs – the Sea Eagles signed Tigers forward Marty Taupau this morning after an email of his Manly contract was leaked – the Tigers are poised to strike back.

Ballin, aged 31, is a favourite son at Manly with over 200 top grade games to his name over the past nine years.

The Tigers are expected to announce his signing soon.

His arrival casts further doubt on the future of embattled Tigers skipper Robbie Farah.

Farah has been told by the club he is free to move on next season but wants to stay put.

But the signing of Ballin is a clear sign that Tigers coach Jason Taylor wants to have nothing to do with Farah in the top grade in 2016.

I don't know the in's and out's but that statement is just crap
I can't believe our club just buckled over and let him go.
that's what they are saying right?

What? so we are signing another hooker and letting Taupau go? are we going to be stronger in 2016 or weaker?

Crap it is! I loved Marty in our colours!

"OUR" club is up the creek for as long as we are OWNED by the NRL!! We are DOOMED until we get these peanuts OUT!! Go and Co are just monkeys for the NRL…Hopefully, I win the 20 million tomorrow night and fix the debt and signed Cleary as Coach!!!

tl/dr

It's ok guys, we have Joel Edwards and some more kids that are yet to play FG.

TAUPAU gone and are C.E.O and COACH (AND I SAY THAT LIGHTY ) come out say how bad it is for the fans but marty wanted to leave, then JT states we have the players to cover for him, the bloke is in dream land, this club has hit rock bottom, we are run by morons.

This club deserves to fail.

My life will go on. I don't need WT to draw a paycheck. When these morons finally drive the club into extinction I'll still be able to pay my mortgage and have holidays. I'll have a lot more free time in winter to focus on less stressful activities like bomb defusing but the management at WT…these guys will be out of work. There previous employer will be non existent and frankly the laughing stock of the game. Who'd employ them in any decent role?

The shining light in all of this is when the day comes that WT closes the doors, these muppets will be without a job and limited prospects in their chosen fields.

I'd be shit scared at the moment if I relied on WT for anything other than disappointing me.

And I thought that Marty loved being in our colours as well. I guess he doesn't see much of a future with Taylor as coach, we'll find out next year if Barrett can coach or not, sad to see Marty leave.

Yep. Let him go if we get something but to just let him go for nothing is crazy.

This exact point though explains that although it is disappointing to see some of our players wanting out/punted etc Taylor must think that we are going to be a better club by allowing these players to go. His job is on the line and is 100% results based so he isn't exactly going to go out of his way to make our club worse. Its his livelihood and in reality this coaching job will be his last so he obviously is making some unpopular and unpleasant decisions in what he believes offers us the best chance of success. I'm happy to stick solid to see if we are on the right track.
Supporters of this club who say they are going to jump ship are no better than blokes like Marty who have done exactly that. Sure we are all disappointed with the things that are happening and some decisions by WT that seem baffling at this point in time but maybe in 3 or 4 years it will prove to be a masterstroke.

TIGERBALM, me thinks these peanuts running our club are doing it on purpose and are on a promise to a golden rainbow from the NRL to stuff our joint up!!! We are owned by the muppets at NRL!!! If HARRY doesn't buy the Club Tigers will be playing out off Perth and that's what the MUPPETS WANT!!!!!

The problem with some people on this forum is that they make comments, not on what is said, but what they perceive of what was said. He said nothing, I repeat, nothing about leaving, Manly, money, or any other club.

Can people just WAIT and see what happens instead of bloviating about something that they know absolutely nothing about.

Ummmmm …I think the time for Official bloviating has come Col...Marty has been released to Manly of all Clubs...

god i love u people who come out and bag people for having a passion about there club. dont we have the right to show how dissapointed we are that are best players are allowed to leave while UNDER CONTRACT AND WE HAVE TO PAY THEM TO PLAY ELSE WHERE. THEN U HAVE THE GUALL TO PLAY THE WAIT FOE 3-4 YEARS AND SEE HOW IT WILL TURN OUT. really we have been waiting for the last 6-10 years and it keeps getting worst. wake up and smell the roses or in our clubs woes THE END.

It's sad to see as he's a genuine crowd pleaser.

However If the Sea Eagles have paid in the vicinity of 700k per year then so be it.

What gets to me is players like Taupau, and Austin, have had there careers practically SAVED by the Tigers.

Taupau would be still stuck in State cup and Austin would probably be in Super League right now.

Who can blame him, why would anyone of his calibre stay loyal to an unloyal organisation.

Good luck to you Martin, i loved your presence on the field, you will be surely missed!!

i'm turning 50 in a few weeks, i'm in a good comfort zone, me and my partner love going to the footy, but i'm at a loss at the moment with the club, i will buy one more season ticket, if we look like we did last year, or worse, i might consider taking up golf with the misses.

GET YOUR SH*T TOGETHER TIGERS!!
