MANLY are on the verge of snaring explosive forward Marty Taupau from the Wests Tigers.
The Kiwi international is under contract for another year but is seeking a release.
A number of rival clubs are aware of the situation and are chasing the game-breaking forward for 2016 and beyond.New Sea Eagles coach Trent Barrett is a clear frontrunner to secure his services to play alongside fellow Kiwis Louis Brown and Steve Matai.

His arrival would be a massive boost to Manly’s finals campaign in a forward pack that has already been beefed up with the signing of Maroons State of Origin forward Nate Myles.Rumours that Taupau wants out from the Wests Tigers have been around for several weeks.

He is one of a number of players unhappy about the treatment of club legend Robbie Farah.

There has also been speculation Taupau would attempt to do a Jarryd Hayne and try to make it in the NFL. But we’re told NRL is still his preferred option.His departure will put further pressure on embattled coach Jason Taylor who will struggle to convince a player who doesn’t want to be there to stay.

There is talk of a swap deal between the Tigers and the Sea Eagles involving veteran hooker Matt Ballin. The 31-year-old hooker has two years left at Brookvale but has been granted permission to look elsewhere.After missing the finals last year, the Sea Eagles are rated a $15 chance in the first betting market issued by the TAB for 2016.The price would shorten to around $12 if Taupau signs. The Wests Tigers are a $34 chance.

If we lose Taupau & Farah and sign Ballin heads should roll immediately.

If marty leaves he is a hypocrite, he would be stupid to go imo. 'Marty Kapow' is the face of WT, I don't think he would stand out as much elsewhere and his brand would take a hit.

He should of listened to his intuition and left

God help the WT's if they decided to bring in relegation and promotion into the NRL in the next 3 seasons

I have no doubt that Marty was or is trying to get a Release from next year and that he doesn't see his game improving being at our Club .

Anyone notice the co-incidence of the more likely Farah is to staying next year the quicker Taupau wants to get out of here. Mayby co-incidence but I haven't seen Taupau on holidays with Farah or coming out with many big statements of support

FB Manly Sea Eagles page report they have signed Taupau on a 1.9mill 3 year deal it's why they let Sene-Lafeo go to the Sharks....I think he has every Club covered now

I'm hearing from a very reliable source that big Marti has signed with the Canberra Raiders on a 2 year deal.

I'm told that the offer from Canberra was too good to refuse and the opportunity to be apart of the raiders team who are building towards success really quickly was also a major factor.

This is a huge loss for us if true and just another big blow. Losing the dally m 5/8 of the year to the raiders was bad enough, now taupau too who is going to be one of the best props in the Comp in a year or 2??? :brick: :rant

Really got to give credit where it's due though, the raiders are putting together a really, really good team at the moment and will push for top 4 as early as next year. Ricky is building something very special at that club.

But Marty I heard your interview on talkin Sport in June with Graeme Hughes, Tunks and Robbo…..you said the whole team was behind the Coach and what he was trying to imply, the team was 100% behind him and that the team believed in his Coaching methods Uh Uhhh Uhhhhhh bushells.

Why the change of heart? Nothing to do with JT for the reason you moving on ? Please tell me it was money that Tigers couldn't compete with.....Please don't break my bubble.

For us to release Marty to Manly a season early compensation will be received, in this case I suspect it will be Balin which would indicate/force the writing on the wall for Farah in another fashion.

Regarding the poster saying Edwards was compensation from the Raiders, that is incorrect since Edwards contract was registered and then announced whilst Marty release hasn't been. This means Edwards isn't apart of the package.

Reports have him going everywhere and too much smoke for no fire, so pretty sure he is going somewhere despite WT supposedly having offered him a reasonable extension.

Those in charge of our cap have offered what he is worth to our club and if that is not enough, well bye, but in the meantime unless there is some compensation, suck it up next year and play for what was agreed.

Every day you come to the forum there is another story of turmoil,players wanting out,cap problems etc,its all negative stuff.

You really wonder how they can ever turn the joint around with this continue bombardment of negative stuff happening around the place.

At the end of last year we got a new coach and a new board and we thought we had hit rock bottom and the only way was up.A year on and we have gone to new level of low. Now we have a new CEO and granted he has been in the job for only a few weeks but the Farah thing has escalated and we have another one of our few very good players wanting out.

From the outside looking in the place is a shambles, now I have always been in Taylors corner mainly because I just do not see the value in sacking coaches year in and year out, but maybe in order to have any chance of getting some harmony back in the place he may need to go. Although I guess with big Marty its about money and joining a team with a winning culture

If he has been offered 650k a year as one mention here had then wowsers thats way too much for someone who is a prop under new interchange rules, a prop who is best suited to the bench. He is a really good player but that is very big money under limited interchange for a bench prop
