Matt Ballin signs for two years - official

No matter which side of the argument you fall on, this is just a further disgraceful way to treat Farah. A month ago, we were told that he would have to report day 1 of pre-season and prove himself prior to Christmas. If his attitude and performance was up to it, then he'd get his 1st grade start. This signing proves that all of that was just BS from the new CEO & Taylor. I can't believe some people are willing to sit here and just accept the club treating a LIFE MEMBER no less like this. Stubborn or not, this is not an acceptable way to treat people.

Let's hope this supposed signing is just a false rumour.

TM just remember this is the same hooker who helped DCE and Foran through there debut seasons in the NRL

Robbie has got rid of two coaches and was trying to get rid of a third

If he was playing at his best you could possibly live with it but he is on the other side of the mountain and gaining momentum

The previous management who made Farah and Marshall life Members before they had retired were complete fools

They (Current management ) are trying to put us on the right track , but don't expect miracles in 2016

I don't know about others , but that's the way I see it

Embarrassing signing. Ballin was terrible for Manly last year and then done his knee.
WTF do we expect n injured 30+ year old hooker to do coming off his worst ever season. We already have one in the same position. Farah at least has a heap of talent.

Yeah he stores that talent in the wardrobe behind his ego…

Robbie got rid of Sheens? That will do me. 99.9% of us were calling for Sheens head!

Pretty sure Mayer got rid of Potter.

The only miracle in 2016 will be if Taylor makes it past round 13!

But as per normal I will be in high hopes we make the eight!

I respect your opinion Happy, but for the life of me, i just can't get excited about Ballin.
We just don't need him.

Fair point but we have no talent. We are inept and Farah love him or hate him has the ability to lift the entire squad. Ballin is a warrior just way past his best. You think Manly would move on with Korisau if they rated him. We are a joke and will win the wooden spoon next year without any doubt.

Perhaps a master strategy at play here. Thinking longer term, perhaps it's a play for Toovey as coach. Toovey loves Ballin and might be enticed to take over from a sacked Taylor. Perhaps Ballin and Toovey as a coaching pair?
I don't really care. The season is over before its begun anyway. Farah has had too much power for far too long.
I wish he'd find a spot at the Broncos. Then I could turn my dislike of him to a whole lot more really quickly.

How is this supposed signing Robbie's fault?….Go figure 😕

Hmmm…I just went through 5 pages and no official announcement that we have signed Matt Ballin....I wonder what the hold up could be...

Maybe not

Farah knows exactly where he stands and guaranteed he won't be here in 2017

Can't wait until 2017 I'm so excited , maybe we could sign more hacks like Tim Mannah …I'm so over this club .
Thank Christ for the EPL !

Maybe his contract was emailed to Len Pascoe by mistake.

regardless of the whole Robbie situation

this is a stupid potential signing, especially coming off an acl injury.

Taylor the goose was on triple M yesterday arvo and three talking points of course were Ballin, tapau and Farah.

Ballin: Taylor denied it and as far as he's concerned he's contracted at manly still (I did notice his tone changed in his voice when asked his question, like he got nervous)

Farah: starts preseason Monday with the rest of the team and at this point in time he'll be fighting for his 9 spot come round 1.

Marty: offered him a contract they thought was fair midsession, but he denied it thinking he was worth more. They got rid of him the year early to push some money forward into 2016 salary cap to help sign key youngsters coming off contract end of the 16 season.

Wests Tigers look to lock in halves after releasing Martin Taupau
The Australian|
October 31, 2015 12:00AM|
Brent ReadI

Wests Tigers will turn their attention to extending the deals of young halves Mitchell Moses and Luke Brooks after agreeing to release international forward Martin Taupau — a move that was bizarrely leaked on social media when his contract was mistakenly emailed to a Canadian theatre critic.
The move was eventually confirmed by both clubs, leaving Tigers fans to lament the loss of another player and Manly supporters to celebrate an all-star addition to their swelling ranks.

“It's really clear from our end,” Tigers coach Jason Taylor said. “Early in the year we made Marty an offer for 2017 and after a bit of toing-and-froing he knocked that offer back, and was fielding offers that were better. “We have Brooks and Moses coming off contract at the end of next year as well. So it made sense.”

The flipside of that is the impact it will have on the Tigers. The club returns to training on Monday with the Robbie Farah saga yet to be resolved. Farah is expected to join his teammates for training, although he still has options in England. The Tigers have been linked with Manly hooker Matt Ballin as a potential replacement.

“The plan is for us to improve next year and I am confident we will, simple as that,” Taylor said. “We have been in a hole for a number of years and you have to make some tough calls to get out of that. We’re on the way out of that, in our opinion.

“This decision is part of a plan that is going to have us back up in the top half of the competition in the future. There has to be some tough calls along the way, but if we keep doing what we’re doing, we'll keep getting what we’ve got.

“I know there will be disappointment and frustration, but there is a plan here. “There is a clear path to improved performance and getting ourselves back to being a winning club again.”

I missed this interview but read where someone else said that Taylor denied the Ballin signing - that was yesterday arvo. Heard Johnny Gibbs at the end of his show and he said the news coming through was that Ballin had signed - but then show ended and he never confirmed it. Re signing Halatau would make the signing of a busted Ballin idiotic, unless they got him for nothing and he is a pawn in the Taylor/ Farah soap opera. Getting use to the torture of waiting to find out what is really going on at this club - trouble is its rarely anything to cheer about.

iam dirty at losing marty, but i will be triple dirty if we sign ballin, we dont need him. god our forward pack will be lucky to match my local A- GRADE side next year.

Would everyone take a breath and STOP being so negative. Most of the posts on this subject are an insult to Matt Ballin - if we have indeed signed him.

Supposedly the management at the club SHOULD know what they are doing. I know he's injured, so one would wonder why we are signing an injured player, but there MUST be a problem around Farah that we don't know about, so leave all that speculation to those that purportedly do have the knowledge regarding this mess.

Now having said all that I was very sceptical about signing up for membership with this club this season, but for some reason I reckon I was the first person to resign, I am going to be positive about how things will pan out, and at least give all concerned a chance to prove that we can do well.

In the meantime if Matt Ballin does come to our club, I wish him all the best at Wests Tigers, and I would hope that you do the same..

i hate people who jump on other people for saying what they feel is right. no one on the forum is bagging ballin he is a fine player but we dont need him, we lost a power forward and signed a hooker how dumb is that. even if robbie goes give cherrington the spot with dene as his back up. we need some big fellows and all we get is crap.
