Meyer: cambo has once last chance

What is with all the lying going on?

We never send Sydney teams to Campbelltown?

2010-2013 -

Campbelltown has hosted -

8 Sydney teams, 8 non Sydney teams

Leichhardt has hosted -

5 Sydney teams, 11 non Sydney teams.

–---------

So can we officially cut out the BS lying going on about Campbelltown getting the rough end of the stick in terms of the teams allocated to play there? It's a straight out flagrant lie.

Piss the place off, play out of Homebush which if not in Ashfield's district would be on the bloody border, and play 1-2 Sunday afternoon games at Leichhardt where the fans will turn up.

Wests Tigers has neglected the Campbelltown region for 15 years. Campbelltown are not interested in an inner city team that comes out west every 2 months.

Firstly, I am disgusted with the crowd tonight. We have struggled at Campbelltown to pull a crowd for years. Yes it rained, but it stopped raining before the Under 20s. That is not an excuse.

Sunday footy against the Panthers in 2013 - Round 2, pulled a shocking crowd of 9,715.

Playing Sydney clubs is not the answer and won't change. Ticket prices may have something to do with it. $30 for GA is a joke for a start.

Grant Mayer said that the break even for Campbelltown is a crowd of 11,000\. We haven't reached that 3 times in the last 5 games played.

Tonight's crowd of 6,456 is the THIRD lowest at an NRL match played at Campbelltown. Not since R25, 2003 have we had a lower crowd (6,158).

**WHY THE HELL DON'T YOU GUYS TURN UP!**

LAST FIVE GAMES at CAMPBELLTOWN:
6,456 v Cowboys (R6 '14)
11,162 v Manly (R20 ’13)
7,833 v Raiders (R15 ’13)
11,547 v Broncos (R7 ’13)
9,715 v Penrith (R2 ’13)

Finally - someone speaking common sense and with the facts to back it up. :master:

While I don't think the fact we played a Sydney team at Leichhardt last week accounts for an extra 10k crowd, I do think it's logical to play Sydney teams at LO/CSS as we are more likely to get bigger crowds for two Sydney teams. LO and CSS are so reliant on crowd numbers to make dollars, any chance of getting extra people through the gates should be taken. We get PAID to play at ANZ. We should play the out of towners there where crowd figures don't matter.

Not trying to defend the number tonight. I thought it was a disgraceful effort and I truly feel sorry for Mayer and the club for doing everything possible to get a big number there tonight.

I'm not a local and have no affiliation to either traditional home ground both have their positives and negatives and I love going to both when I get the chance. From my point of view it's disgraceful that so few turned up tonight. I'd spend 50 bucks every week to watch the Wests Tigers if i could. I know people who travel down from QLD for plenty of games each year and spend a fortune on flights and accommodation. It's just garbage excuses to not have 12000 to every home game no matter where it is played. You would get almost as many as were there tonight if you played it up here against another NSW team.

As for the Cowboys as opponents, It was a team we have a rivalry with from 2005\. It has one of the great players in the game who all NSW fans should want to get out there and give hell to in Thurston. They have the Australian front row who our young pack was going up against with a point to prove. That should be enough to get plenty of bums on seats. Those calling for other Sydney teams.. what does that mean just other people to pad the numbers? It is a Wests Tigers home game and should be full of Wests Tigers fans.

It's probably time to send games to NZ, Gosford and other places where fans are again because it really doesn't appear the locals down there appreciate what they have.

So what is the excuse for the Magpies then for all those seasons.

Try a team with a good well paid coach, something like Canberra, they're just down the road from Campbelltown.

Souths have never played WT at Campbelltown.. Cant remember the last time St.George Illawarra played there and Manly played WT for the first time there in 2013.

Hard call to say "this is your last chance"

I was there tonight (and today) and loved being there. Great ground for Rugby League.

honestly, 6.5k is what i'd expect if we played the bloody PNG Hunters. Doesn't matter who we're up against we were 5th on the ladder, just smashed manly infront of 16.5k we should be entitled to expect 10,000 as a minimum to consider keeping on playing there.

if broncos doesn't break 10-11k (assuming somewhat constant form/weather) i would expect a drop in cambo games to 1 or 2, maybe even none. As you said, the club can't afford to cough up 25k 4 times a year to play in front of a few thousand.

if anyone's wondering what the biggest crowd we've ever had at CS, it's 20thousand against…....the cowboys.

in 2005 of course, but still says a lot about tonights attendance.

WT pay $0 to play at LO
WT get paid to play at ANZ
And get charged $25000 to play at CSS

Thats a driving factor.

Are you saying people don't turn up because Wests Tigers get charged $25K to play there?

The Campbelltown area has hundreds of local juniors, so much more than in the Balmain district. Why doesn't the club offer all Campbelltown area juniors a free family pass for the next Campbelltown home game? I am sure that it would be a great investment in increasing future patronage at Campbelltown.

As I understand it all players under 15 get an nrl pass that gets them into any game. I have had I pass for the past few years because I coached in the penrith district but im pretty sure that any player/coach in the nsw juniors gets the same.

Alex, I'm sure as part of the agreement with ANZ, they would stipulate which games they want there. And so they should.
