He leads the competition for try assists for any outside backs this year so he has a lot to offer

Really? Is that across the whole comp? Even if it was just at the Tigers I'd be surprised. Moses MBye? Mitchell Moses, perhaps.

MBye leading the comp on try assist for any player who's last name starts with 'MB' ... perhaps.

It’s true. He’s got 6 try assists, equal more than any other winger or centre in the competition. He’s got a really good passing game and has set up some nice tries for us this year.

Mbye was actually one of our better players when footy returned. Can’t remember what game , but he had a blinder and people were saying it was his best game in a tigers jersey. Then it just fell apart and he’s had a few shockers since then. If Reynolds goes to super league and mbye to titans then that’s over $1million dollars we have to play with.

Quoted for truth.

IMO he only had 1 "Shocker" and Im not convinced it was his fault as he was all of a sudden inside a debutant on the wing who wasnt up to it.

Since then all eyes have been on him and whilst IMO he has played reasonably well since then, since the "Shocker" everyone is looking for $ 850k performances out of him.

Correction - we always looked for a 800k performance from him every game.

What did he think we paid him that to pretend to be a captain, bludge on the field and be a little eloquent with the media.

Don't think so.

So you think a player should be trying to play to their salary? If a player is underpaid? Or a player should just play his best every game? Its ridiculous. Not his fault that he was signed to an insane contract. His best is not worth $800K.

It's not his fault, but I haven't heard he is giving any of it back because he is not putting in though.

Is he not putting in though, as 59 tackles and 80 minutes first game up playing in the nine suggests to me that he is? He has also shown a willingness to play in any position he is asked to by the coach, even when carrying injury for weeks on end, so you can't ask for much more than that.

That WT are paying him a salary of some $800k or more is not his fault, and if the $950k figure bandied about is near accurate, then that blame falls to the CEO.

Man Boob Mbye has been a major disappointment.

However I’ve always thought his best position is probably at 5/8, but he’s never been given a run there. With the season effectively over and nothing to lose I’d be tempted to give him a couple of weeks at 5/8 to show us what he can do as a playmaker. That should resolve it once and for all. He’s offering nothing at centre, he’s a waste time there, plus I’d prefer Tommy be given the opportunity to settle in at left centre.

Agree what’s the point of playing benji after last week

The biggest concern I have at the moment is if the players are over Madge. The effort in the second half last week, following Madge's spray, followed by what they dished up tonight looked way too much like a team that has lost, or is losing, its spirit. I wonder has Madge learnt from his days at Souths. Time for some varied man management I think.

I’m not the biggest fan of Madge atm, but you don’t beat teams 48-0 and go toe to toe with top 4 sides if the players are over the coach. There’s definitely issues which Madge seems unable to solve, but the players not putting in for him is garbage. You want to point your finger at a club whose players have given up on the coach, look at the Broncos.

Interesting replies to my post - passionate supporters who all want success, as do I. I posted what I said because I had noticed a distinct lack of effort after Madge's spray in the Warriors game and after a hard week of training the following week, the effort was really down in the Knights game. I agree before this they had been responding to Madge giving them a rev up and making hard calls. Interesting to note his change in approach this week - deliberately taking it easy early in the week and having a bit of fun with his players. I was really pleased to see this because years ago he would have continued to take the hard line approach. To me it says he is growing as a leader of men. Anyone in a leadership position in their workplace would know that you can't just go hard on your team all the time, as it will eventually backfire. Good on you Madge - I expect the players to respond with a big effort this weekend. I was confident they would nail the Dogs by 12 or more, but not so sure now after the BJ thing.

on reports of titans not interested in mbye, if there is no takers

Are we allowed to modify the contract if we extended him eg current deal is 800k 2021. Offer 2021,22,23 for 1.2 total?

Solid enough to be worth 350-400 without having to pay half his salary elsewhere

edit: not modify but a new 3 year contract superceding the old one

That is exactly what they did with Lawrence.

The precedent was set with Lawrence, so it can be done. But does the club want him here beyond 2022? That’s the question.

It is quite ironic that paying players ie Farah Sironen Blair to play for other Clubs screwed our Cap to pre Voldemort which wasn't ever going to happen again under Pascoe's watch when Taylor was punted... now we want to pay anything to get rid of players we signed cause we stopped paying players to play for other teams..

It would be funny..but it's just the life of a Wests Tigers fan cycle..

You been drinking ?

It's not that hard to understand is it..

We got our cap in a mess through previous administration liked big back ended deals..We then paid some of those players a fair chunk to play for other teams..

That wasn't supposed to happen again..

Once that ended and looked like we were in the clear we bought duds on big deals and now we want to pay said duds a fair chunk to play for other teams just to get rid of them..

If we have to pay $4ooooo for him to play elsewhere, then we may as well keep him. It will cost the same to replace him. Why dont we just grin and bear it. Stick him in the No.14 and be done with it.

Going to start this off with I am all for offloading Moses and for the price he is on he has not lived to standards. HOWEVER... I do believe he cops more than he deserves on here. When playing centre with a competent winger outside of him (i.e Talau) I actually think he is in our best 13. The last month he has been moved around from centre, played a shocker on the wing, dummy half and half a game at fullback...honestly couldn't blame a guy for playing average (yes average, not poor) when you get changed mid game constantly.

I think he is very solid in defense, is fantastic at setting up his outside man (problem is we hardly go down his side). You only have to look at the good first half of this season we barely leaked a try down that edge. Taking the pay argument out I would honestly be fine with him remaining centre with AJ/Talau outside of him next year. I also don't agree with the argument about any laziness, I actually thinks he puts in more than what some other players in this team do.

not a captain though...give it to someone else.

Moses Mbye says he and Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire have reiterated his commitment to the club following interest from the Titans even though a volatile transfer market means players are "never really sure where you're going to end up".

As first reported by The Sydney Morning Herald last week, it's understood Mbye has been the subject of informal talks between the Tigers and Gold Coast about a potential move north next season.

The joint-venture is exploring how to ease salary cap pressure in a top-heavy roster ahead of 2021, though any move for Mbye hinges on how much the Tigers would be willing to chip in for his lucrative salary given he is contracted for the next two years.

It has been suggested the Tigers are open to paying up to half the freight on Mbye's estimated $800,000 wage to ease the club's tight salary cap, while the Gold Coast also have money to spend next year with several big earners moving on.

Mbye is known to have a close relationship with rookie Titans coach Justin Holbrook and his assistant Jim Dymock from their time together at Canterbury, while the Queensland Origin utility originally hails from Noosa as well.

By the same token Mbye says he and Maguire have an honest bond that saw the pair discuss his future as soon as it came under the spotlight.

Speaking for the first time on the matter, Mbye said his priority is to remain at the Tigers and continue the club's rebuild under Maguire, and that he had told his coach as much last week.

Our intention is certainly for me to be at the Tigers

"I had a yarn with him at training - nothing formal - Madge and myself, we have a really good relationship where we speak to each like mates," Mbye said after Sunday's last-gasp win over his former club Canterbury.

"We respect each other and we're honest with each other so we had a yarn about it.

"In terms of me leaving the club, I've got no desire to do that. I'm really enjoying my time at the Tigers.

"I did the mid-season move at the Bulldogs so I've already tried that. I'm enjoying my time here and my focus is here.

"The club's assured me - going off what Madge said to me - that they have the same intention.

"If anything changes, we know what it's like the game of rugby league, you don't know where you're going to end up. But our intention is certainly for me to be at the Tigers."

Mbye's future, both club and position-wise, has come under scrutiny since his signing from Canterbury by Ivan Cleary two years ago.

A little over 12 months ago Maguire was hosing down suggestions Mbye could be on the move after his decision to drop him to the bench was superseded by Mbye copping an untimely injury.

Mbye has shifted from fullback to centre under Maguire's tenure but also trained at hooker throughout the off-season before Harry Grant's loan deal was locked in.

A shift to the Gold Coast could once more facilitate a move into the No.9 jumper with Nathan Peats coming off-contract this year and unlikely to be retained.

Having been through the upheaval of a sudden shift from Belmore in 2018, Mbye says he has gained perspective and "resilience" to draw upon when his future is under scrutiny.

"As a club and a team when you're not performing as good as you want to be, you're not in that top eight and you're earning good money, that comes with responsibility, it comes with expectations which is completely fair," Mbye said.

"I agree, it should come with those responsibilities. I think everyone looks at it differently, everyone has a different situation in life.

"If you're asking me personally, I think I've become resilient to the fact there's so much moving and shaking in the NRL. Go back through this season, what are we up to? Four coaches sacked?

"When coaches come different players come and other players leave. I think a lot of people are resilient to the fact that you don't know where you're going to finish."

Very diplomatic answers with a reminder the coach also needs to deliver. The bloke would be a better politician than Mal Meninga, although that's not saying much.

What else is he going to say? I've had enough and want out? I think a fresh start would be good? I like it here but would be happy to play for any other club? No other club will pay me as much so i'm fine in Sydney for 2 more years?

I want to see him stand up and make it known what his preferred position is. Enough of the wishy washy “I’m just doing what’s best for the team” crap. He’s the captain, he needs to own a position. There’s no future for him at the club if he can’t.

Mbye was pretty pumped when he nailed the conversion to tie up the game and even more so when Brooks kicked the field goal..

Most emotion I've seen from him in our jersey..

And until he does sign with another club everything he says has to say that he committed to what the club is building.

Likewise the club won't publicly put him to pasture With Madge saying in a press conference anyone that is happy to chip in 400k can have him.

Until an agreement is made both parties are publicly committed to one another, but both acknowledging 'its a funny world, and it's a business etc'
