NRL must expand or die - DT article

I don't care what 37 percent of people think…..they forgot that the "Tigers" brand is one of the biggest and most valuable in league....I don't think they will shoot themselves in the foot because of some simpleton poll...,

I had to laugh at rothfield's logic for retaining particular clubs.
Parra and Penrith had to stay because they represent Western Sydney.
Dragons because of "the great brand"
Sharks, AKA systemic peptide cheats, stay because they own their home ground.
Bunnies stay because of the backlash when they tried to kick them out before. ( Wests Magpies say hi from the 90's )
Roosters because they are a strong club.
Melbourne must stay. The only reason I can think of is to debunk the myth that cheats never prosper.
I simply can't wait till next year when we are hopefully performing better and some other poor team gets to wear the brunt of this fool's moronic fabrications.

We should conduct a poll on the basis that there are too many moron 'journalists' and which of them should be cut.

The NRL own the brand Wests Tigers… If we were packed up, its more than likely a new franchise would be created with the Tiger brand attached.

NRL Fans have created a poll saying they want more QLD teams. They need to get rid of a team and voted Tigers to get axed. Is this a thing to worry about becase I think they'll send it to the NRL.

We are done… Cooked. Cleary has driven the bus off the cliff and the NRL will move in tomorrow and take control.

It looks like we could be moved to Rockhampton

Not going to happen. Just the DT bashing WT as usual. Totally unfounded.

The NRL do not have the power to force WT to relocate or to merge. Financially WT are in great shape and are one of the very few clubs that are likely to make a profit in 2018.

The business based debate for expansion is pretty sound and has alot of credibility. It looks like the magic number of NRL Franchises should be 16 [maybe too high?] so the ARLC needs to formulate a plan to how this is going to happen.

For too long the game has been held back based on emotion, and the free-ride of the gravy train. Time for change!

I think you are thinking too small..holding the game back ..it's not a fans game anymore .it's a TV/ digital Media Product..

I reckon 20 is the Ideal number…Perth Reds, Adelaide Rams, South Queensland Banana Benders and PNG Headhunters should all be added...2 Conferences play each other twice ..2 month knock out finals series...

TV would love it..then 5 years in... off to the untapped markets China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia...then World Domination..

If admin was perfect the idea is not too fanciful. Many foreigners I have noticed embrace the game. Some foreign expats who mix with Oz expats overseas really get into the game.

This is just a riduculous argument, there just over 400,000 people in Canberra and Newcastle, and 600,000 in Gold Coast and in North Queensland there is even less. In Sydney we have around 5,000,000 and the fastest growing city in Australia, and the Tigers have the close to the biggest area in Sydney. So who in there right mind would want to disenchant this region into following another sport.

What a surprise to see Ben Elias lining up to sink the boot in as well
Maggot

x2 Media hungry tool who can't even talk properly and get his brain moving as fast as his mouth. What a shame.

Can we get Rid of Elias , each time I read something he says I just can't believe it , he is 100 % grub just like his Nephew , somebody buy him an eels jumper and let him piss on them

The DT has one hell of a axe to grind with our club, it goes way back to the Sheens days when he basically black listed any interviews with them. Anyway fingers crossed Cleary really gets a competitive side firing next year and than see all the poison pen merchants trying to jump on the bus.

Really the best thing people can do is stop buying and reading their rag, like most media outlets these days they are only just hanging in there

Rothfield is trying to throw off his beloved Sharks.
truth is Wests tigers are still averaging more supporters and more members even though down the ladder for the past few seasons than the Sharks who are reigning Premiers.
Point in case 2 home games at Sharks home ground have attracted 7000 & 8000\. with one a GF replay against the Storm.
He picks a game at Campbelltown Stadium with sides 14 & 16 on a friday night 2 nights after Origin to try and push his agenda.
Also he says Manly most hated side in Sydney
I think he'll find Roosters & Sharks are pretty much up there for that.

What percentages of those populations are consistent rugby league viewers/participators though? Id wager soccer is the dominant sport in Sydney and nine clubs is far too many to be sustainable.
