Packer

He and Matulino came here at the same time with Packer being the main prop.Matulino tried his heart out each week even when he physically was a spent force and i respect him for that.Packer is just a pea hearted lazy ill disciplined lout.I cant wait till he is gone.
I would much rather see Clark picked each week than Packer at least you know he will put in for the team and he would be on a quarter of the money Porker is

Russell Packer caused the first try. He was dawdling back to the defensive line when he should have been at 'A' defender. It allowed Tedesco to run straight passed whoever was meant to be the B defender, who was now a very wide A defender (think it was Eisenhuth). Chooks scored a few tackles later.

I’m going to play devils advocate here.

If you watch other teams, ideally the top 4 teams it’s rare that you would see the third player in the tackle rush back to A defender. Most of the time I see a player go back out to C or D defender and the defence collapses to counter.

In some cases that player will even fall back behind the ruck for the next tackle just to ensure that line is always fresh.

Our Markers are really poorly positioned and do not pressure any of the forwards from the inside and following that only one of the side rushes up quick.

This also leads to our infuriating need to slow the ruck down and our six agains we give off.

This is a poor system we are employing.

The same can be and should be said for the missed tackle by liddle last week.

Not saying the players are innocent but the entire system is letting the team down.

Agreed. It is not that single play on it's own, with the work on previous plays needed to be taken into account. Last week Liddle had just completed his third tackle in a row and Packer was working hard around the ruck previously as well on Saturday.

Gotta laugh many on here were touting Packer as captain for next season after his one good game and that hit that took Matterson out. A couple of weeks on and we all can’t wait to see him gone again. Let’s face it he has been a major disappointment the whole time he has been here.

Not quite... he had his moment in the sun with his hit on doesntmatterson

Yes it was certainly a moment that put a big smile on every Wests Tigers supporters face, but still not worth Russell’s hefty salary unfortunately.

Yes well another average performance again.
Agreed he is not worth the salary we are paying him at $700k a season till 2021.

Packer has to go. He like many others who have aged in Wests Tigers ranks is now well past it.

Good luck with finding a taker for next year then.

He has got a hide being angry at Cleary.

No - he has every right to be angry at that grub. Doesn’t excuse his rubbish performances though

Can't agree. The way coaches are moved around these days there are no guarantees. Cleary signed him with the club's money. He should be ringing him up and thanking him every week.

I agree 100%. It might surprise a lot of people the for and against score when Clark is on the field compared to Packer. I have seen Clark nearly spewing when he leaves the field because of the effort he has put in. Sorry, but that means a hell of a lot more to me than putting a hit on Matterson in one game. Big deal, if you back this up with lazy lazy play that lets in tries.

He suck-diddly-uks. Can't wait to get him off the books. We may as well have created a bonfire and burnt the money he is being paid. That's how useful he has been.

I wonder if Russell reads this forum. Because we were joking when we said that moment justified his salary.

That's the issue another club taking them and us paying part or half there salary.

He is not the only one in the club in the same boat. It says a lot about the great difficulties the club is facing.

He is just as useful as Mbye, McQueen and Jennings, please put their money on the bonfire as well Willow.

It's not an issue - because no else will.
