Pascoe sanctioned by the NRL

I still think that if Pascoe is guilty of unknowingly
breaking the cap rules , he should be dumped for not knowing what he was doing,
And, if he’s straightout guilty of cheating, he should be dumped for not knowing how to cheat better

I cant believe anyone thinks that the club planned at any stage to bring Farah back in a player capacity. My understanding is Farah approached Cleary when it was obvious to everyone we needed a hooker because Liddle coudnt handle it and Cleary was not a fan of McIlrick - as documented by Farah at the time who was stuck in reserves at Souths.
The talked about ambassador role we all knew about - but even given the reported relationship he had with Marina Go, the perception was that it would be a long time coming before Farah had anything to do with the club again if at all. I cant speak for anyone else but I believed whole heartedly that Farahs career would finish at South Sydney and if not in the UK - and definitely not at our club.
It makes perfect sense to me that when Pascoe walked into the job his first assignment was to be the mediator in what was an ugly situation - and Farah has pretty much backed that up. He/the club breached the rules - dont believe that he was a lone wolf in the matter - and for some reason now the NRL decide to go on a witchhunt to find an unsigned contract for a position that may never eventuate.
We may have fledged the rule book in regard to the ambassador role but dont believe for one minute it was to cheat or get some advantage.
I dont know Pascoe, but why would any half intelligent man in the first weeks of his high powered job jeopardize the club he works for, and his own position, by deliberately trying to cheat the system?
The NRL could find club breaches where ever and whenever they like if they choose to delve into goings on in clubs, and at this point they have decided to target us and impose a whopping penalty. Wouldnt trust them to be fair arbitrators in anything.

Whether they intended to or not, it was still dumb to bring him back into the fold after crying to the NRL that he was a destabiliseing influence. That was just plain dumb.

Not really. The reason he was a destabilising influence was nullified by the fact when he came back he was either or going to be in a different role and not working with his nemisis or his nemises would have been departed, which as it turned out was the case.

We needed a hooker, he needed a club, what we were supposed to do? Not hire him back because he didn't get on with someone who used to work at the club?

Read Weidler's article in full. Before the blurb on Miranda, the leading story is around Ben Barba's history.

Quotes:
"Currie (Barba's partner) denied rumours Barba had assaulted her after photos of her facial injuries were published. She even hired a lawyer and told then bulldogs boss Todd Greeberg she wanted nothing to do with the matter"
"I've been told no one was willing to make a complaint at the time & Greenberg was powerless to act. Greenberg organised for me to speak to Currie in 2013\. She told me she had no problem with Barba."
"My view is that he (Greenberg) is a good leader of the game and I accept his word"

This germ should be on the NRL's payroll. He is little more than Greenberg's (and several players) PR merchant.

Telltails, I don't think the NRL witchhunt to find an unsigned contract ever happened; more to the point someone else made it happen. There is a 12 minute Greenberg interview re Barba on the NRL site, and if nothing else it provides an insight into Greenberg's mentality. He bumbled his way through it using notes and two often repeated throw away lines. No-one could disagree with his stance against violence towards women, but his other well rehearsed spiel which he must have repeated at least eight or ten times was "we can only act on evidence put in front of us". That is an absolute cop out and allows them to turn a blind eye to the rumours and innuendo he claims they can do nothing about. Applying his Barba logic to salary cap issues, he doesn't care what the Roosters or anyone else are doing and won't act until someone walks up to him, hands him a document, and says "well, what are you going to do about that?". I believe someone dobbed in the Tigers and he had to act.

Unfortunately, we already played our hand. If he was really the destabilising influence the club claimed he was, it should not have mattered how much we needed a hooker. If your wife cheats on you and you break up with her, you don’t take her back 2 years later because you’re in need of a wife.

That article covers Greenberg’s history at the Bulldogs with Barber and the Tigers current salary cap issue. On both accounts, totally separate issues, Weidler comes down 100% on the side of Greenberg… absolute NRL mouth piece stooge.

Yep - this is blowing up big time for poor ole Toddy - the PR machine is in overdrive to cover his butt. Unfortunately we are in the firing line and they will continue to put dirt on us to keep Toddy out of the headlines. What i don't understand is why gun for us when Cronulla's woes are still ongoing. Favouritism rearing its head again.

I believe (and can't see how it is not obvious) that Pascoe is solely to blame (if at all).

How would a brand new CEO to the club supposedly try and pull an underhanded stunt without the approval of the Chairperson and the board. I would suggest he didn't - Pascoe is just the NRL and Greenburgs target.

The story so far:

*Reported far and wide we were thinking about doing this…...(ambassador role for Farah).
*The club did not gain an advantage.
*The contract was not signed.
*The payment was not made.

The club is guilty of not advising the NRL that they were thinking of making Farah an offer to be an ambassador for the club after he finished playing. That they were thinking of offering $639,000 over 4 years after he finished playing and that we think you should know that no contracts have been signed. "In other words NRL, we have nothing to report to you".

For this Pascoe loses his job, we lose 639k from our cap and get fined 750k.

Yeah right!!!!! Take the mongrels to a real court and whip 'em good.

* Being reported about doesn't matter.
* It can easily be argued that we did gain an advantage.
* The contract wasn't signed by Farah, may have been signed by Pascoe.
* Payments would not be due until he is in the role.

Absolutely. Plus gifting Farah a $600k goodwill job should be enough alone to sack him.

This is the second attempt by Danny Wessel to discredit the Tigers and headline the NRL’s case. Both times he has said how the NRL have a water tight case and how deligent their investigation was.

The funny thing is he is pushing the NRL’s line without seeing what the Tigers have put up in their defence.

The guy is a hack reporter who spends half his time at the Chooks HQ and the other at The NRL’s HQ

What are you on about man? Plenty of blokes go back because they need a wife and theyre afraid of being alone.

But back to the point, it was never going to be destabilising once JT was gone. If you said Taylor was still there when Farah came back I’d be 100% in agreement, but he wasn’t . If you and the NRL can’t see it then there is no point in going around in circles.

Surprised to read a Weidler column where he wasn't saying what wonderful people Sonny Bill Williams or Anthony Mundine are. Funny that his two besties are converted Muslims when he sports a Jewish name.

@Furious1, I will believe that when he plays reserve grade behind Liddle this season & doesn't whinge or start a media beat up around it.

I don't think that this will happen, as Madge did not have the courage to leave him out in favour of Cook at souths.
