Farah was owed money before he went to Souths. Not necessarily just from his contract. Part of his agreement to go to Souths was that he would get the more money owed and the ambassador agreement was a mechanism to achieve this. At the same time WT are getting exemptions because Farah is “bad for team harmony”. When Farah returns there is this agreement to pay him x amount of money as an ambassador. Pascoe registers the contract but not the other agreement.

As for Greenberg and the NRL, it’s important remember the integrity unit looked at this for a long time in considerable detail. So while the punishment might be a Todd special, the findings aren’t a Greenberg/Gould/whoever conspiracy.

Pascoe, and let me reiterate that I hold him in high esteem and think he’s done a super job, either through honest error, oversight, or deliberate obfuscation held the agreement from the NRL. That’s where it is right now.

Obviously you know exactly what has transpired just beating around the bush it seems ….seems someone at the club has an axe to grind hence the information being leaked and there always needs to be a gateway to the public forum! It seems Pascoe is gone as the knives are out and the leaking continues as I said from the start something smells very rotten about this ....it is a know fact that the NRL have to be lead by the nose to any suspect dealings in club land .I just hope in the end the person or persons are outed.

It’s the NRL, it’s worse than politics. People talk… a lot...

My understanding is the Tigers signed a contract, which was sent to RF's manager. This remained unsigned by Robbie but his manager still has the contract ready to be signed when RF finishes is career. When the NRL asked about thr contract the Tigers did not have a copy of the contract.

Now it is possible that this was an offer that RF has not taken up, but look at it from the NRL's point of view, this would be an easy way to circumvent the NRL rules. Many here would be up in arms if the roosters did the same!

They are only circumventing the rules if they gained an advantage in the cap by offering him the role. I would seriously doubt that the NRL could prove that WT have gained an unfair advantage in the cap. He went to Souths on a 900k contract of which Wests paid 750K. If thats true then there was no cheating the cap there. Wt brought him back mid season last year - there would have been a contract drawn up for the few months he played and he would have been paid whatever his contract with Souths was for the year. The NRL would have had to register the contract between WT and Robbie for that period which they obviously did without question. So that only leaves him re-signing for 2019\. At this stage of his career he can't have been signed for anymore than 400k. I fail to see where they have cheated the cap. There only mistake was notifying the NRL of Farahs "possible" ambassadorial role after football. The funny thing is Greenturd keeps saying they have cheated the cap but doesn't elaborate on how or on how much - nor does the media.

You would if you were using it as an added benefit that you didn't want the NRL to be aware of. What the Tigers have done is a possible way of rorting the cap, whether that was their intention or not does not matter to the NRL.

I couldnt agree more. Blatant cheating if you ask me.

If all that is true, are we saying that Robbie's manager had the only copy? Why did the NRL only think it was an issue recently? And from who did they find out about it being signed by WT but not Robbie?

And if it all went down like you described, where do WT benefit? He never signed on for less than market value, there's no way we intended to circumvent the cap via this method. We received no advantage. So at worst we made a stupid mistake, there's no deliberate cheating in what has been described.

I think the benefit the Tigers were striving for was Robbie to leave the club, but the NRL could argue the Tigers plan was for him to return to the club as he has done. The problem is they don't need to prove the reason we paid him extra just the fact that we intended to pay him extra and didn't inform the NRL.

The NRL now has a copy of the contract so I am sure they are aware of who has signed it.

I know there wasn't a copy of the contract at the Tigers offices, I do not know if their were multiple contracts offsite. **I do know if people found out their were contracts sitting in managers offices signed by the Rooster ceo, but unsigned by the players, offering future roles at the club that people on here wouldn't be as understanding as they have been in this** situation.

The difference is that the rorters sign players for less than they can get elsewhere which suggests something stinks. Whereas WT paid Farah his full contract when he went to Souths and his market value on return. So how are they cheating the cap.

The NRL doesn't need to prove that they gained an advantage, they have rules in place stating you can not offer an ambassadorial role without informing the NRL and getting approval as this is an area of a possible salary cap breach. The Tigers either accidentally or purposefully broke those rules and have been given a punishment.

Now the more I hear about this it appears that the Tigers did gain an advantage and purposefully broke the rules to enable them to pay an amount owed to Farah and not have that included in the cap.

But they didn't pay him his full value as he was still owed money from a previous contract.

That is not what was reported at the time he went to Souths. As someone pointed out earlier he went to Souths on a 950k contract whic h included the amount he was owed from a previous underpayment . Wt carried 750K of that amount in their cap for 2016\. That was widely reported at the time. There was a holdup in the negotiations with Souths because Ayoub was arguing the Wests owed more than they were paying - whether thats when this ambassadorial rubbish was mooted who knows.

Of course it wasn't reported as it appears we were entering into the ambassadorial role to pay that money back, which contravenes NRL rules. The contract to Souths did not include the underpayment from are previous contract, it was just his backloaded deal he had at the time.

This makes no sense to me at all?

By underpayment, are you referring to a payment that was fully included in the cap, but the funds didn't actually get to Robbie because we were too poor?

And somehow this money which we were meant to pay him wasn't included in the cap at the time?

At the end of the day Yossarian and many others keep overlooking the fact that this isnt like Roosters offering one of their players a job after football then signing him at a reduced rate for another couple of season.

**HE LEFT THE CLUB**

He went and played for Souths, there was no advantage to us. No salary cap rort, nothing. Ive heard all the arguments given so far and while there are points to debate i cant see a smoking gun. Just a dressed up case and a nazi like attempt to destroy our credibility before we have had a chance to defend ourselves.

The whole thing is a fix up to get back at Justin Pascoe.

He was doing too good a job and has upset the wrong people.

No it wasn't included in the cap, he took a paycut to allow others to stay at the club on a promise he would be paid that back in a future contract. When he was forced out of the club he asked for this payment to leave.

This is what I have been told and a lot of what Yoss is saying backs that up.

There doesn't have to be a smoking gun and the NRL doesn't need us to gain an advantage to punish the club, though I believe the club received an advantage. The NRL has rules around the area of jobs after retirement as that is a very easy place to rort the cap. That put the rules in place to prevent clubs circumventing the cap. If the Tigers broke those rules they are going to get hit no matter if their was an advantage or not.

Absolutely a fix up - agree with you.

At worst an oversight - which wouldn't come anywhere near the penalty imposed.

I believe that Farah was not owed money once he left for Souffs. This whole issue is over an oversight.

That could easily be ironed out in a court of law - not an NRL kangaroo court.

Because they agreed to pay him extra money, that he was owed, that no one knew about. You don't see that as a problem? You would be up in arms if this was the Roosters.

I must have missed this bit. Where is it confirmed that the money he was offered as an ambassador had anything to do with this "owed money"

From what i understand that point is pure fan speculation.

So unless you have a link to back up your point i have highlighted above all you are saying is that no one knew about it.

You are in for a surprise then, I was just sharing what I've been told. I have been a member here for a very long time and have never claimed to have any information before but thought I'd share what I know, but has you have made clear you want to live in denial, I will stop. I hope you are right but I doubt it.

What I will say is none of that really matters anyway as the Tigers have broken the rules in relation to this and will be hit over it.
