Pat Richards Leaving ?

Yeah,,,I don't know why Woods Farah Tedesco Simona Sue Nofoaluma stayed,,,,wasn't Korobeite gone whilst Taylor was assistant at the Rorters and Moss still at the Pamfers…?

Koro leaving obviously wasn't Taylors fault. I assume it was Potters stuff-up but I wouldn't give the coach that much say. I think Taylor let Austin go.

Potter went on record to say that he never wanted Koro gone and it was out of his control .

The Austin saga was put on hold until after Taylor got to meet all the players. Soon after Austin was gone.

Do the math.

**When David Simmons can score 4 tries against us down Pat's wing (and yes, I know, Lovett being burned for speed every time Ware got the ball resulting in our left side being horribly exposed), then it's a sure sign that the time has come.** Patty was a great winger during the first decade of the 2000's and solid over the past year or two, but man, you can't compete at his age at the elite level.
A tremendous competitor at his best and I think it's a real shame the Weststigers didn't have his services for the bulk of his career. He'll always be remembered for 'that' try and is a true Tiger legend.
But I wouldn't be offering him any sort of contract for next year - I guy like him shouldn't be ending his career in reggies.

I agree with Taylor that Lovett or Lawrence, the same thing probably would have happened re Whare getting outside his man. But I also think this put Pat between a rock and a hard place. Should there not have been more defensive support pushing out from Lovett's inside defender to allow him to be on the OUTSIDE of Whare, therefore not putting it all on an aging winger's shoulders?

And if that is the case, can no one in this team get the defence working properly??

I don't know, I am not as experienced in these matters as some on here but I think it is a bit tough putting it all on Pat - or Lovett for that matter.

I'm not putting it all on Pat at all. However, I would have thought that I guy with his experience could have been somewhat more effective in shutting down a couple of the tries - especially the one when Simmons just burned him for speed. He was left sprawling on the grass. Pat is and has always been one of my favourites. I just think it's time for him to leave the NRL. I would hate to seem him running around in reggies or being shown up week after week in Firsts.

Interesting. I liked Potter but I still think he is at least partially to blame here. Why would anyone pick Richards ahead of Koro ? That would have been frustrating to Koro.

I think that this was a pretty clear cut decision. It was Taylor's way of stating he would assemble his own squad.

Austin was signing with the Raiders for 2016 so he was allowed to leave early so we could pursue long term options. We needed to save the money and his heart wasn't in the club long term. That's the math, just without the numbers.

I'm sorry I don't get this at all. Its the same comments that we get on here regarding Koro. Its really simple - you tell them you want them to stay and they have a role on the team.

Why let quality players go that aren't being overpaid.

Austin was only signing with the Raiders because Taylor made the call.

It really is that simple.

If he was offered a position he would have stayed.

As Blake Austin has even admitted.

Incorrect. Austin wanted to secure his future in the 6 jersey and was told that would not happen at the Tigers because of The club's long term plan for Moses. Canberra offered him a chance to secure the 6 jersey and he took it. Austin was not unhappy at the Tigers, he simply did the best for his career.

Technically that's not true.Austin could have stayed If he liked.he was still a contracted player and a 2014 club player of the year but wrongly so he was offered the utility role if you like just exactly like he was in 2014.
We virtually told him he would always play 2nd fiddle to Moses.
Obviously there where other factors that triggered the move as well but if the right decision was made well you be the judge.

Any way isn't this a thread about Patty?

Fair enough. Best move for all parties. Shame really, he started the year on a flyer and really fell away very quickly. Good luck to him in France, might be able to squeeze a couple of more years out of his career.
