A Treasury analysis released under Freedom of Information laws yesterday shows the Coalition will have to impose an effective carbon price of **$62 a tonne of carbon** abated compared with $29 under the government's scheme.

if you're concerned about the cost of the carbon tax, you probably should be aware that it will be worse under Abbott [either that or he is lying]

Then there's his direct tax on big business to fund his maternity scheme. 1.5% of the top 3,200 companies - everyone from banks, Westfarmers (Coles) Woolworths etc. And who ends up paying that? The Aussie consumer. Talk about a great big new tax on everything Phony!!

Using 2011 statistics (Couldn't find anything official for 2012) China's average weekly wage is…$180 AUD and Australia's average weekly wage.. ready for it... $1019 AUD

^ Of course you take into consideration that there are many more people in China compared to Australia, so if China's carbon tax is a lot less per person but having more people you can expect it to be pretty similar to Australia's.

(Also, you'll be interested in knowing China emits much less carbon than Australia.)

Pop. Australia: 21,007,310
Pop. China: 1,330,044,544

Australia = $23 a tonne
China = $1.50 a tonne

According to 2009 statistics (http://data.worldbank.org) China's emissions were 5.8 tonnes annually compared to Australia's emissions of 18.2 annually.

Taking that into account -
China = $11,571,387,532
Australia = $8,793,659,966 payed towards carbon

So essentially, they are paying more for tax when they are emitting less.

fingers in the ears time

bla bla bla, I can't hear you, she lied, she lied

Only for a few more months….

Seriously it's almost worth losing the election just to see how Tony manages to implement the billions and billions of promises he's made.

do you think Liberal supporters can keep ignoring the facts until then?

My bet would be: yes.

Have you ever been to a major city in China and tried to see very far through the pollution?
The carbon tax won't be payed by people - but by companies (same as here).
The emissions you talk about are PER PERSON (as at 2009).
We have 22 million x 18.2 and they have over 1.3 billion x 5.2
Still think they are emitting less?
PS The big companies there will simply bribe inspectors and pay bugger all like they do now with the pollution tax.

The good thing is Tony Abbott has come out condemning the faceless men of the Victorian Coalition who knifed an elected leader and installed a puppet who now runs a dysfunctional minority government controlled by independents

wait no he didn't

No, instead he congratulated Napthine on "his election".
Fair dinkum…

Tony Action Man Abbott

Tony Abbott is our answer to Russia's Action Man Vadamir Putin.
He rides horses, rides bikes, Runs, Swims, Surfs, kisses babies, and can leap buildings in a single bound.

Lets just see if he wins the next election his political actions match his policies.

I doubt it.

If Rudd's going to challenge Julia it will have to happen within next 6 weeks

If Rudd challenges and wins ,I reckon the Coalition will then turnover Abbott for Turnbull

Rudd is worth too many votes for Labour to ignore anymore

Agree 100% with you Happy.

As much as I love Julia _I doubt very much if she can win the next election too many factions against her including sections of the media.\
\
Time for Ruddy to leave the backbenches and make another run for leader.\
\
In case anybody's wondering I really don't have Julia's pictures on my walls…....it's Granny Clampets from the Beverly Hillbillies._

_Trouble is Kevvy's tried this already and failed :nerd: Can't see him winning another attempt either. The general public may prefer him as leader, but the Labor Party doesn't. Btw, I love Granny Clampet, HT!_

_What about Elli Mae Highlands ??\
\
Slightly easier on the eye's (if not the ears)_

:smiley: My Idea for the Labour leadership.

If the party can forget their objections against Rudd for leadership of the Labour Party and install him as leader again, he would stand a better chance of winning the next election for them.

If he wins the next election after a few months they could get rid of him and install Julia again, talk about DeJavu.

Sorry Happy Elli Mae OUT Granny IN I always respect my elders even if she's only about 1-2 years older than me.
