This budget has shown me who in this society is a greedy spoilt brat who thinks the world owes them a living and who is prepared to take a bit of a hit to help the nation.
The whining makes me sick.
me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me
Fing pathetic.
Tell me about it.
I'll say this first before I go on my rant: there's genuine concern for certain members of the community that will be affected by the budget so this not a generalised attack on everyone, I'm only drawing from my own experience with the many people I come into contact with.
I am **so** sick of the "think of the young people" line that is being towed though. Everyone is whining how the housing market is pricing the kids out. Are these the same kids who own 60" LCD televisions, PS4's, a wardrobe full Henley's T-shirts the latest SS Commodore and parties hard every Friday & Saturday night but whinge that they can't afford rent or save for a house purchase?
Quite a few of my mates fit into this category and now they look at me with jealousy because I had the common sense to stay at home on Saturday night while they hit the piss and save my pennies so I could build my first home and pay for new furniture with my savings instead of credit. The very same people that used to heap crap on me for renting a crappy 3 bedder townhouse for $280 a week putting up with DHA tenants (read: junkies,) with no air con with second hand furniture while watching free to air on a 30" CRT television. **My fiancee and I have never owned a credit card and don't intend to ever do so.**
All I hear from these clowns now is that I "don't know how hard it is out there" because I am "lucky" to have a home and I've always had money and I don't know what it's like to "do it tough." Funny that… I've noticed with people they get luckier the harder they work and the more they save...
Gen Y (in general,) doesn't want to start low and work their way to the top, they don't want to miss out on anything and they think the world owes them. That is symptomatic of a society that emphasised the importance of the individual, that we are each all special and unique and that everyone is a winner in life. That's why they walk out of high school thinking they can earn $75,000 in a desk job without qualification. I see plenty of kids walk out on apprenticeships in the first year in my trade because they can't hack it. Walk out of year 12 being the top dog and can't handle being yelled at to carry materials around on site or do the coffee run.
They're about to find out that life has run out of participation medals for them.
