Potter to take reins from Sheens

I would love to have Potter as coach and it's driving me mad not knowing what's going on!!!! If Sheen wants to play hard ball I would make him work out the 2 years somewhere in the joint!! I am sure he could serve drinks over a bar, move gym equipment, do coaching clinics at local schools, etc… If he wants to get paid then make him earn it doing something useful. That might make him change his mind and take a lower payout?? Anyway this has got to stop and the Club NEEDS to let the members know something..

All you idiots saying sheens should take less money then his contract says are more then welcome to give me thier pay check next week especially as many of them seem to be on here during work hours. If Tim signed the contract and we offered it then he should be paid every last cent and deserves it too unless they come to an agreement otherwise

I work afternoon shift and don't start till 3.00pm,and if that idiot said he would step aside if we missed the 8,then $600k is more than generous

The Daily Telegraph has been told … An appointment will be made as early as today.

Or as late as...?

September/October 2014.

Captain/Coach Robbie Farah

No money, so I thought of that as well….

Just out of interest who was the last "captain/coach" in the NRL? (or more to the point, who was the last successful "captain/coach"?)

not sure about NRL.
last one I clearly remember was Graeme Langlands at the Dragons in the early part of the 70's,.

Could you imagine making Robbie Captain Coach, a nice big contract then a bonus of the Coaches money on top which doesnt count on the salary cap, then you bring in an assistant coach who does the coaching. I am surprised a team hasnt tried this to beat the Salary cap, LOL just a thought.

Certainly wouldn't have done any worse than Sheens.

Sheens in his later years here resembles the nutcase General Melchett from "Blackadder Goes Forth." The following describes him to a tee with the way he stubbornly stuck to ideas/plans that simply did not work:

**Melchett:** Field Marshal Haig has formulated a brilliant new tactical plan to ensure final victory in the field.
**Blackadder:** Ah. Would this brilliant plan involve us climbing out of our trenches and walking very slowly towards the enemy?
**Captain Darling:** How could you possibly know that, Blackadder? It's classified information!
**Blackadder:** It's the same plan that we used last time and the seventeen times before that.
**Melchett:** Exactly! And that is what is so brilliant about it! It will catch the watchful Hun totally off guard! Doing precisely what we've done eighteen times before is exactly the last thing they'll expect us to do this time!

I just think it's a shame that our past CEO's haven't picked up and acted on on a few of the "Glaring" weird decisions that Sheen's has made over the years, unfortunately for us he has baffled them with Bullcrap and got away with it. This year isn't the first that he has shuffled the cards when we have lost a 7,9 or 6, this along with what he did with some past players who weren't up to scratch but because he liked them kept them there no matter what. Without mentioning names I think we all know of one "Standout" player in this category.

I hope you aren't implying that CEO's get involved in team selections. Recipe for disaster.

The best and only thing a CEO can do is change the coaching structure/personel.

Definately not on a week to week basis but on season reviews questioning how positional changes have had an affect on momentum and ultimately results. Best hooker to half, fullbacks to 5/8, halfbacks to fullback, centres to 5/8 and it goes on and on. 3-4 team changes to cover 1 injury and of course not punishing anyone after poor results, same players not performing week in and week out. All this sort of stuff that I believe should have been addressed before this season. It has cost us close to $1mil, I along with a lot of supportes have seen this over the years but Sheens has been rewarded with pay increases and contract extensions.

Wally Lewis in the early nineties at the Gold Coast, before that Bob Fulton at Easts in I think 1978,both were flops.
