Realistic team list round 1 2018

I'm hoping for this team to start 2018:

I like this selection as well for a couple of reasons:
Milne with more try assists than any player in the RLWC indicates he needs to be a centre not a winger.
MM is a better choice then Liddle at the moment.
Marsters on the bench gives versatility in the backs and forwards
Grant is my only doubt but Sue has to prove he's hungry enough week in week out.

Yeah Milne is very good at setting up his outside man, he's got a few handy trick passes up his sleeve. He's a specialist centre, probably the only one we have.

I hear what you're saying about Liddle. Probably a straight swap with MM further into the season would work best, especially if MM's fitness isn't holding up. Taylor will always be there also if Liddle finds himself struggling.

There is no way I would replace a prop on the bench with an extra hooker though. We're too light on in the prop department as it is and we don't have the luxury of Woods playing big minutes anymore, so there will be much more forward rotation happening next season.

Supercoach, I don't think Lawrence is a shoe-in anymore. Cleary knows he needs to show results moving forward and sentiment isn't part of that. There are better second rowers and those who will play games more consistently (referring to injury). Wasn't Tim Sheens sniffing around recently trying to poach a forward? I reckon this was Lawrence and I also think he knows his days are numbered in first grade in the NRL. I love him, don't get me wrong - but he isn't our way forward anymore. We could rely on his experience previously for the young guys but now we have that in droves with Reynolds, Matulino, McQueen etc.

Think you have pretty well nailed it at this stage Tacky, however I would definitely swap Grant for Sue on last years form. The rest look good at the moment without knowing what will happen during the pre-season. Well done.

I'm thinking we need 1 workhorse and 1 impact prop on the bench. I'm not too sold on Sue either but, I want to keep Aloiai in the backrow. I like Twal as a workhorse but, he's not really known for his damaging runs. Sue just needs to play like he did against Manly every week and I think he'll fit right in.

Head knocks may become an even bigger problem with Suaso and particularly so if he cops one early season.

I agree. I’m reading posts saying last years players should get priority for positions. No way. We haven’t brought in a new crop for reserve grade. I admire Lawrence greatly but based on the new acquisitions (and the development late last year) I think he will struggle to secure a spot. I wrote how much I admired Kev’s Passion but I don’t think he will be in our top 17.
