Hang tough, Darius. I'm rooting for ya. I'll buy you a beer if you start bagging Sielbold in the press and saying you can't leave because Milf is no leader.

You can be assured that the Broncos will offer to "look after" Boyd if he does choose to retire.

To avoid NRL scrutiny it will be an unofficial thing, because Robbie Farah, but it will be there. Question for Darius is whether he trusts his short-term financial future to a handshake agreement.

Personally I'd take it, if he is ok to stop playing footy. Get a big old payout agreement and if the Broncos renege or it falls apart, go public with the deal and ruin the club. He would surely have them over a barrel.

From what I heard it will be ESL if it happens ...it won't be a retirement as such

Broncs can thank Unca Wayne for that mess

The bronco's will pay him whether he plays or not, the NRL will stick their head in the sand as usual, and that will be the end of it, mean while we will be playing $337k under the cap again for a BS penalty, no cred NRL are a joke

That's exactly how it will pan out - no one including the media will raise an eyebrow.

This just makes my blood boil... You can bet you last dollar he will retire and they will say he "forfeits the money" and every man and his dog knows he will get a job at the club getting paid massive money for the next 5 years etc... NO person and I mean NO person is going to give up 1.6 mil dollars to be loyal to a club especially considering he went to 2 other clubs.

If this does happen we need to do the same with Ben M and Russel Packer.. But of course the NRL will be reject us and advise us we need to control our Salary cap better..

The whole thing stinks and I still cannot get over the Farah situation and how harsh the penalty was to us..

No way Packer could be retired medically - he was injured (toe) has had an operation and I would think would be fit to play for 2020.

Matulino is another kettle of fish - knee is gone, has played most of the games in the past few years until the knee went a few months ago - he would be a chance to be medically retired.

isn't matulino retiring after this year?

Packer isn't going anywhere. He is happy to play reserves for his money.
No pride. Just a bludger.

Don't be a petulant child. The club gave him that contract, which was their own stupid fault. It's his money, and provided he's honouring his contract he's totally entitled to it. He doesn't owe you, me or the Tigers anything more than his best efforts to play.

Sadly in today’s footy world, our club, like every club, will act solely in its best interests with no consideration to the other party. That being the case, why should we expect players to act any differently?

If it's the past few years..forget it means he was signed with a pre-existing condition which has obviously got worse..as the insurance company would say tough titties..

The NRL would have the discretion to allow us cap relief should Matulino be unable to play and retires but everyone keeps telling me they hate us so no chance there

I have seen no evidence to disprove this, compared with other sides penalties, or lack there of

Why is it his fault?

As if you would give up $400k+ a year and put pride aside if your employer said don’t worry about coming in, stay home put your feet up.

Sure... so you would give up $400k+ a year if you signed a contract and your employer said they didn’t need you?

If I wanted to continue my playing career elsewhere, if he is stuck in Reggies next year no one will touch him with a forty foot barge pole.
Does he want to be remembered as a Second grade player or an ex international?

I don't think people will remember him, that's the point.

He is well entitled to sit back and get paid his money fair enough, but being 30 and still with SOME football in him surely it would be in his own best interests that he nuts up and rips in.....
But what official source is saying he isn't? Maybe it's just Madge who doesn't like him and is choosing not to play him? maybe he's injured? Nobody will know for sure except for an injury, because you can't diagnose heartilige problems....

The point is - he has been injured, tried to play a few games with the injury, no success, so has had to have an operation and won't be back until next year.

All this, lazy bugger, no heart etc. is just giving people (who are not fans) a chance to put in the boot.
