Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

Probation? Really? How disgraceful and degrading. If Pascoe and Taylor are confident that moving on Farah will genuinely get the club moving forward then sign a cheque for 2 million and be done with it.

Trying to implement a winning positive culture ay? To me seems that they are:

1) Trying to get rid of Farah for ulterior motives
2) Weasel their way out of paying 2 million at the same time.

Geez all the other players must be thinking what an honest and positive culture we have, don't mention winning culture for obvious reasons.

Believe me the way this has been played out, it's obvious that all parties involved couldn't give 2 cents about the club, it's all about egos and self preservation and financial gain. The only people that care about the club are on this forum and even here it has turned into a case of divide and conquer.

I give the current Tigers board and football operations a big 0.

Your entire point relies on the assumption that WT has enough in the piggy bank for a golden handshake. Really??

If that's the case the why didn't try the following?

- Robbie we love you though we don't have money, could you play one more season then go to the UK?
Or
- Robbie we are broke, could you take a pay cut?
Or
- Mate your destroying the place and we can't avoid the wooden spoon with you in 2016, we will take out a loan pay you $2 mill and please go.

Everything outside of the scope of the contract is good will

Farah has a contract…wow...Galloway had a contract too ..was told to look elsewhere for a while....did so and moved on with dignity.... In fact the list of players who have contracts with other Clubs and been moved on before they expired is endless in recent times,,,

For whatever reason...rightly or wrongly Robbie Farah has been told to look elsewhere... just do so .... Be remembered as the Legend you are not the Pariah you are becoming...

As for those already writing of next Year well 15th 13th and 15th were so much better with Farah....2016 just may surprise a few experts...

That all depends on circumstances, perhaps Keithi is getting more in the UK? You just can't assume that one solution fits all, $2 million we are talking about a different kettle of fish? Besides based on reasoning for moving Farah on, are there any clubs interested? Once again circumstances

With no more additions to our playing roster we are a bottom 4 side Geo , no matter how you paint the picture

Really do not know how much truth is in the SMH articles, but to put Farah on probation is just throwing petrol on the fire and I guess that is what they want, they want him to walk. You would have to think the club has some serious issues with Farah, let face it they will need a lot more ammunition than a personality clash now the legal eagles are involved.

This whole saga will now be dragged out for another few months and their are no winners. The club has to fix this one way or another before preseason training starts

I am no lawyer, but if the club pays him the owed contract amount cant they then terminate the contract?

Personally I can only see this as a solution based on the current circumstances.

Coopy has nailed it! If this comes to legal blows-which I hope it doesn't-you'd want to have a few bucks on Farah winning!

I am sure Farah's barrister has a clear view on the contract.

Farah is and always will be one of our greats.

Probably, but what can we pay him out with? We supposedly have NO money, remember. At least, that's all I ever hear them say.

I think people are ignoring the fact the club can terminate his contract if he is in breach. And given the antics Farah's camp has pulled in the media, it's little wonder the club has gone in this direction.

The letter is in response to Farah's approach.

He was informed verbally to consider other options in the market. Most players would go away and explore other options. Farah decided not too and involved his lawyers.

He now has an official letter informing him to consider other options and the reasons why.

If Wests Tigers were a conventional corporate entity, ASIC investigators would have taken up permanent residence by now. Incredibly inept handling of the Farah affair which will more than likely end up in the courts with the club taking a sizeable legal bath. If the club carries through with its threat to play him in reggies all year irrespective of form, he will claim breach of contract and more than likely succeed in court. One thing to drop a guy for poor form. Quite another to threaten him with demotion in the hope of forcing him to walk away from his existing contractual right to not only play for WT for 2 more years but to be selected for first grade if his form so warrants!

He is just a staff member that has been asked to leave by management and backed by the board. Can't see how ASIC would be involved in such a situation. This is lawyers and unions territory….

Curaeus didn't say that ASIC were, or would be involved

Nor did I.

Did you actually read either post? It was a hypothetical scenario and I responded in accordingly:

Some kind of deal (e.g. a full payout) to end the saga is possible-but that would require Farah's agreement which he presently doesn't look like giving! He has every right to stay if that's what he wants to do. Marina Go has acknowledged the club has to meet its contractual obligations to Farah and will be doing so. Clearly the club has no evidence of any breach/s by Farah that could be relied on to terminate his deal. Trying to unilaterally engraft this insulting "probationary" nonsense onto Farah's deal at this late stage, particularly after being earlier put on notice of a possible claim of procedural unfairness, is frankly, a rather dumb thing to do!

And most importantly this -

It's understood Levick found the reasons aired at the meeting by Taylor were based on hearsay and lacked corroboration.

Obviously they did not conduct a risk analysis, they acted on impulse, emotion and assumption. Now they are trying to emotionally force him out as they don't have any legal grounds. They should have thought first then shoot. The bill has to be paid.

Couldn't agree more. Whatever side of the fence you sit on, it's time to move on.
Pay Farah out . He's happy.
Farah Gone. Coach & Club happy.
No more BS each day, fans happy.

It just doesn't matter anymore. I want to remember Farah as one of our greatest of all time, not one of the A-Holes who was part of the whole thing (rightly or wrongly) that dragged things on. I'm on the fence with the whole thing, I just want it FINISHED.

It's a letter about nothing really.
They will base it on his attitude to training?
It's common knowledge he has one of the most professional approaches to training of any player.
This is either a get out for Taylor, who can now say Farah has trained the house down and made him reconsider, or buys them time to borrow $2million to pay him out.
Seeing we had to beg the NRL for money and accept their appointed board to run the joint I don't think it would be a good look go with the second option.
Most probably also won't help Taylor's cause that, considering some of case is also based on Farah not following the coaching plans, is that his assistant coach was recently pictured enjoying a holiday with Farah.
Farah's 'bad' influence has had the players come out in support of him (especially all the young guys supposedly 'scared' of him) and they and members of the coaching staff go on a holiday with him.
Looks more to me like a weakness in Taylor's character that he can't handle a dominant figure in the club.
Either way - can't see Farah playing too many games in reggies for us.

That's the way I sort of see things going. From memory this will be the first full off season that Farah has had for a while without an international tour or a tournament being on. Like you say ck, they will say that he has really put in and will keep his position in the team. He doesn't want to go anywhere so this is the best way for the club to get out (or try to get out) of it.

It is not hearsay when or if they are sworn in at court. Judges are pretty good at sorting out the truth.

It's OK his mate….. Bourbon Bec A.K.A. the Lurker is onto it.....

Wests Tigers have all but written Robbie Farah out of history as the dispute between the star hooker and the club has sunk to an all-time low. The face of the franchise along with Benji Marshall for much of the past decade, Farah can't be found on Tigers media and merchandise in recent days.

In the wake of his fallout with coach Jason Taylor, the club has removed Farah's image from its phone app, with young utility back David Nofoaluma taking his place.
The membership page on the club's website features photos of several Tigers stars including Aaron Woods and Tim Simona - but no Farah.

And the club's Facebook page is full of photos of Woods, Simona and James Tedesco - but nothing recent of Farah. It's all part of the Tigers' ongoing campaign to oust the controversial hooker - but Farah continues to dig his heels in.

The Blues State of Origin star and his manager Sam Ayoub are confident they are winning the public relations war with Taylor and the club and are insistent on staying put. Farah is on huge money - the sort of cash no rival club could offer him this late in the year for 2016 under the salary cap. England is an option - but he doesn't want to leave the country. Farah has told mates he'll take his massive salary and play NSW Cup if he has to - unless a compromise can be reached with Taylor and the Tigers.

The club has moved on winning the public relations war means nothing when you are sitting on the bench for short stints and watching a younger, stronger ,faster guy playing in your position.
The club has made it clear Robbie Farah is no longer required …I hope the penny drops soon and Farah can move on with his career as many others have done ,in the end this will not be about money it will be about watching a great player in his twilight career
Sitting on a bench wasting what time he has left when he could be playing his final few years on the paddock every game ..sometimes winning the public relation wars is a fools game .

They're obviously not going to pay him out, hence the probation stating that he will play reggies if he doesn't change his current attitude/behaviour. There would have been stated objectives for Farah to follow.

Let's see how it turns out.
