Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

Were I in Farah's shoes, I would be the better man and stay put. He's indicated that he'll only be in reserve grade next season if he stays with the Tigers. Perfect. Same amount of money for less work. It gives him a chance to finish out his contract, help build up the confidence of our young guns, help Cherrington get used to playing an 80 minute match, and have the send off at the end of next season or possibly the end of 2017 like he wants. He and his agent need to see that there can be positives taken away from this trainwreck of a situation, and realise that building a legacy isn't an easy task. But if he is going to be up himself, then maybe being moved on and not getting to finish out as a one club man is for the best, and in doing so he will help set us up to right the cap situation a bit to foster more talent.

Where has Go been hiding throughout all of this schemozzle? Parked in front of the telly stuffing her face with Krispy Kremes and watching reruns of Laverne and Shirley? By all means be the puppet-master making the tough decisions but for Christ's sake have the gumption and guts to face the media and the scrutiny that comes with it all. Don't leave it to the coach, what is this the under 12's? Weak as water.

Since when does the chair of the board make a comment about staff **other** than the role of CEO?

All staff related annoucements are completed by the CEO or COO….or in terms of our football club, the Head coach is responsible as we don't have a CEO. All pretty simple and normal.

People need to have a lie down. Cherrington is better than Farah right now and is actually playing like Farah circa 2004\. Fast, creative, questionable defence and can't play a full 80 minutes. In fact, Cherrington has gone past him to extent that the club is happy to pay Farah to play for another club. It's really no big deal....it's just the nature of a professional sportsman. One day, someone comes along that is better....

Absolutely agree with your last long post tigermama! You hit the nail on the head!.
What identity do we have now??
We are a mess and disgrace from the top to the bottom… as a fan i feel back stabbed.
Not a great look for the future of our club.....

Don't get me started on moltzen. The mope spent half his playing career injured, playing nsw cup, or getting injured in nsw cup. Meanwhile collection every cent of his inflated backended contract. If he actually cared about the mope would of pissed off when he wasn't wanted years ago. Then the mope finally speaks up when his off to manly after his collected ever cent of his back ended inflated contract he banked by being injured, playing reserve grade or getting injured in reserve gra

Sorry to ruin your rant, but it was also this club that offered the contract to him, NOT the other way around. He was legally entitled to be paid, no matter what you or anyone else mat think.
The events of this week should show how much consideration that the club gives to our long term players, absolutely nothing.
I might add that his injuries were received while playing for this club.
Also the reason that he didn't piss off was that the club begged him to stay.
Blame them if you want someone to rant on.

I'm not debating the legality of his contract. But if we are talking about the best interest of the club both players should leave. Moltzen played the last two seasons in reserve grade if he was wanted anywhere else he would if left. Farah in the same position now it seems.

Lets not forget both players can pretty much thank the wests tigers for everything they have financially right now.

Jeez Littletiger, how ridiculous can you get?
Farahs given to WTs for over 10 years, and stayed when he could taken the better money on offer. He owes nothing, in fact some of the money he's owed is for games that have been played earlier in his contract, not just for the next two years.
Hes given more back to the club than most have, and carried the club for a lot of those years. It will be a long time before we see another player give anything like the service
That Robbie has.
Why don't you donate your next two years pay to the club, as clearly that's what you believe that Robbie and Moltzen should do.
Or better yet we should stop giving contracts at all , and then the coach can come in at any time and tell any of his players that they will be in reserve grade next week if they don't want to go
Try living in reality, people have contracts so they can't be shafted , as a lot of clubs would do if they could get away with it.
Anyway I'll be looking forward to the breaking news thatlittletiger has donated his next two years pay to the west Tigers Boardmembers Christmas party.
Good for you!

Robbie would be working in some cubical office if it wasn't for the wt. End of story.

And what I'm saying is do what every self respecting footballer does when they are no longer wanted go play in England or joint the media instead of leeching from the club that made you.

Can't you understand the difference between someone finishing a contract and a entity that is trying to BREAK a contract, Robbie doesn't have to do anything , except play for WTS.
Legally or any other way.
He hasn't even been paid all his contract , for part of seasons that he has already played
It's called Backloading if you don't already know.

The rest is for him playing for the next two yrs
He's fulfilling his side of his contract. WTs aren't.

Just because you don't like it means nothing.
How in Hell would you know what Farar would be doing with his life
Actually he would be earning more if he'd taken the bigger money on offer when he signed this contract
Do you know what a contract actually is?????
It is Wests Tigers responsibility to make sure he is paid his contracted money. It is Robbies responsibility to fulfil his contract and play for this club
That pal , is the end of Story. Legally and morally.
This also applies to Chris Lawrence as well, and I hope that Chris doesn't let these Donkeys push him to somewhere he doesn't want to be.
you can bet that Teddy and others are taking note of this clubs treatment of its senior players and making sure that their contracts are completely watertight

The club is getting carved up through the media and don't appear to have anything in response. This would suggest to me this was created by the other party, most likely Robbie's Manager.

I'd expect something more from the club, something swift & direct to the point either today or tomorrow. Marina Go is the most likely to step in now and get on the front foot and push back at Farah & his Team.

Time for a Leader to step up and take control of this club. Who will it be???

All this moaning about a lack of respect shown by the club for the way this business was announced. When was Farah going to announce that he was meeting with Souths? Before Souths dropped the idea, was he worried that there would be no time for a farewell from the WT fans?

Farah didn't meet with Souths, according to his manager he hadn't been told anything about it at that stage then our board drpeleased the news without telling Farah or his manager .
And if you don't think that that squirming grub Taylor wasn't disrespectful at his no talkies presser then you don't know what respect is, this club is looking even more rudderless than ever , with Go hiding and not coming forward , starting to see the consequences of having a board with not an ounce of knowledge about running a club between them.
And Taylor's hiding behind his prepared and memorised sentences , like a scared little kid
like the
West Tigers has sunk to a new low

Your failing to see reality. Taylor didn't create all these ridiculous back ended contracts. Taylor is actually to fix the mess and is putting his neck on the line dealing with all you disgruntled fans that are resistant to the change.

Say what you want about Taylors coaching. I agree this year coaching hasn't been the best. But in terms of football operations I can't actually point out anything they have done wrong.

At the moment the success in the nrl is determined by the management of the salary cap hence why we are running last and rooster first.

Even if it turns out taylor can't coach at least our cap will be in better order.

No one said that Taylor created the contracts,
WTs did and they have to honour the contract, simple
Whether Taylor likes it or not
And they will, because even if a club does decide that can fit him in , they will say they can only afford a small part, and WTs will still pay the majority of it.
If we only save a few hundred thousand , what's the point
And who replaces him
Another non tackling NYC so called superstar

A: we have an acting CEO….Moss. Does he actually exist or is he a figment of our Boards imagination??????
b: Cherrington is better than Farah already??????????questionable Defence?????????
Cherrington cannot tackle !!!! And is not ready for first grade on a regular basis

Until Farah was injured in Origin, he was playing very well and was in our top players in all the games before he was injured.
He would not have picked up the hand injury if our astute Coach , had stuck to his much broken rule about playing already injured players . A rule that has proved as flimsy as the So called Coach.
I shudder to think how we will go with Cherrington, Brooks and Moses in the same team regularly.

Hope we get Fensom from the Raiders, as there's going to be a big shortfall there somewhere

Who cares? You said that Go is hiding away eating Krispy Kremes and I just highlighted it's not her responsibility.

Not sure if you understood what I posted. Go back to 2004, Farah wasn't exactly the best defender in the team and couldn't play 80 minutes. He obviously went on to be a great hooker. Cherrington is at the same point in his career (~Farah circa 2004).

We will go fine. Club must back the rising (& cheap) talent.

Look….finding creative hookers/halves/fullbacks at a reasonable price IS VERY hard. Finding players that can tackle heaps is NOT hard. Further Farah made 50 tackles per match, but he is not exactly the world's biggest hitter in defence. When did he bend the offensive line with his defence? Farah is a solid defender by all means, but we can find them anywhere and for a lot cheaper than $950k per season.

I will say what I'm going to say in regard to Robbie the player first…he is paid to play and lead the team on and off the field...secondly Robbie was spoilt very early on by Sheens and the factional board by letting him have to much input to the team and club...

I did say earlier, since Sheens left Robbie has tried to be the control freak within this club...

Robbie was involved in the demise of Sheens and Potter because he wanted things his way...
If you don't see this, then take off the rose coloured glasses.....This is a classic example of one person trying to be bigger than the club and now he has been cut off at the pass,he is having one of his classic dummy spits...

Robbie, for all his good for the club,he has some bad as well...previous management let him get away with it because he is Robbie Farah....

I have always been passionate about the WESTS Tigers,I try and see the better in people rather than the bad,Potter was good for this club and was a good coach,Sheens did good things and won a premiership....

Unfortunately,I'm relieved that Robbie has been towed into line..if he doesn't like it then move on,he has been told....Robbie has been a great player and clubman,he also can't be involved with the clubs management and recruiting we have specialist people now in those roles.....

As for Taylor,he is the coach, irrespective of what some on here think in regards to him coaching, give him a clean slate with no players trying to stand over him and I think you will see an improvement in this team and roster in the next couple of years.

I have always been a fan of Robbies while he was a great player ............
Watching him lately with Sheens,Potter and now Taylor my view on him is ..play to your pay check and don't get involved with the management ,if you don't like changes for the better, then it's best you do move on...

Lots of good points here. Thinking about this I get the impression we've stuffed this up again.

I think the big stuff up though was putting that contract on the table. Robbie could spend the last couple of years of his playing career earning really good money and playing for the Tigers. He shouldn't be getting paid though money that is well above what he is worth which is exactly what has happened with that contract.

hope he gets a gig in england then he can get a season ticket for his reds.
would absolutely spew if he went to the scum at sowfs.

His brother is on the coaching staff.

Eddie Farah is their Physiotherapist!

Correct. Which makes him an employee who has direct contact with the players.

He should get whatever his contract says. No more, no less.
The club through whoever it was, signed to do that without caring what happened in the later years, so if anyone should be getting flak now it should be him , not Farah.

I agree 'Watto'. It looks to me like WT has been blindsided.
Since it's been reported that Farah and co have had 6 weeks or so sniffing around for work elsewhere they have obviously had time to come up with a media plan that makes Farah come up smelling like roses.

Looks like WT management were caught completely off guard and JT looked like a rabbit in a spotlight. The old 'whip out a media release then go to ground' trick doesn't work with a situation like this and WT should have been better prepared. I'm actually amazed they didn't have their own media plan prepared for this as a contingency. Very poor in this day and age.
For me, it is now Moss' turn. He's the manager and should be front and centre. They're probably bound legally by what they can say but they need to come out and say something.

Cherry evans signed a ten year deal with the seagulls for 1.2 million a year, and to go up with the salary cap increases.
And u think we played a bad game with contracts!
Hope he doesn't get any injuries or drop form?

I dont see it the way you guys do as i think the coach and board have had weeks to plan for this outcome but even if they didnt if given time what would they say?

Curious as i dont think there is anything they can say that will matter.

You truely are an imbecile !

The club (rightly or wrongly) has pushed him to find another club for 2016\. He had no choice but to negotiate with another club or play reserve grade.

Uppercut yourself mate..

Hi Tony.
You might like to review the reported information before you go calling names. It looks to me that many here are very emotionally involved and buying into the 'legend' spin.
From what I can see, Farah has been looking around for work elsewhere for some time now. Because he was being pushed? I don't think so. It has been reported that there is a rift between him and younger players, a rift between him and the coach (sound familiar) but now he can't pull the strings he once could. So now he wants out.
Do you really believe that if Farah stayed and performed to his pay check (I.E the level expected of a team captain and representative player) that WT would play him in reggies?
Uppercuts indeed! Don't hurt yourself.

Interesting comment in the SMH:

"The Tigers will show their hand and prove there is money on offer still for next season when they try and entice an experienced hooker to join the club. Manly's Matt Ballin – who despite agreeing to a contract extension is unwanted by the Sea Eagles – is on their radar. Ballin's season-ending knee reconstruction may spook the Tigers, but there is genuine interest there, as they look for a defensive hooker who will not overshadow their ball-playing halves."

They did have their own plan
It might pay to find and read Robbies managers comments as to the fact that he had been talking to Wests and hadn't told Robbie about it until a meeting with Tigers, after which WT put out a release without telling him or Robbie that they were going to.
Taylor's display at the release was disgusting .
WTs were not blindsided. It was instigated by them
