Wests Tigers legend Robbie Farah has been advised via a letter from the club's new chief executive that he's effectively on probation and his ability to continue training with the club's NRL squad in 2016 depends upon his behaviour - and performance - over the next few months.
Farah was also advised by CEO Justin Pascoe he faced the ignominy of having his attitude and approach to pre-season training appraised by coach Jason Taylor and club officials at an especially convened meeting on December 22.
If he doesn't cut the mustard the veteran of almost 250 NRL games in Wests Tigers colours - and who has a $1.9 million contract with the club for two more years - will be told he can no longer train with the top squad.
Fairfax Media understands Farah was handed the letter on September 30 when he, his barrister Julieanne Levick and manager Sam Ayoub met Taylor, Pascoe, the club's legal counsel and chairwoman Marina Go at a meeting that was convened at the footballer's behest.
Farah wanted to be told to his face the reasons for the way in which he has been treated since it was reported in August that he was not wanted by Taylor. It's understood Levick found the reasons aired at the meeting by Taylor were based on hearsay and lacked corroboration.
When news of the September 30 meeting was leaked, Levick said it concerned "procedural fairness" because despite the speculation concerning the reasons behind Taylor's controversial decision, Farah claimed all he was told by the club was he'd play out his contract in the NSW Cup should he remain at the joint-venture club.
Pascoe, who assumed the chief executive's role after the drama erupted, wrote the letter that just before Christmas the club would revisit the issues that concerned Taylor.
It's understood Levick has also challenged the way in which the club has handled the situation, saying Farah hadn't received one breach notice to respond to Taylor's claims - as normal procedure dictates.
The Wests Tigers were also asked to explain if Farah's behaviour was of such a concern for club management why had they failed in their duty of care to consider Farah's welfare and take the appropriate steps needed to find out what was wrong.
While the December 22 meeting will decide if he can continue to train with the squad and challenge for a first grade spot, Farah was advised by Pascoe that the opportunity was still available for him to seek alternative employment should he wish to seek the opportunity to play elsewhere in the NRL.
While Farah's future is murky it was made clear in Pascoe's correspondence that the captaincy remains in question.
He was informed that as a result of Taylor's concern that the club should be looking to build for the long-term future, it had been decided that management would review both the captaincy and the leadership group within the club.

That article is really interesting! Whatever Robbie's influence is, it is clear that it has not gone down well with the new coaching staff. Everyone else from the Sheens era bar Lawrence has moved on except for Farah yet it would appear that there is still a destabilizing factor that they believe has to be removed.
I am amazed that the club feel so strongly about it, that they think the team cannot improve with him remaining. I don't believe this is about money, but more about culture. I don't know where this path goes but the coaching staff want to improve Wests Tigers so let them make the hard decisions and see if they were right.

Pascoe, who is essentially an outsider, has been here literally 5 mins and has already identified Farah as a problem. That says it all really.
I remember the Farah loyalists beside themselves when Pascoe made his first statement, interpreting it as he was back flipping on the board's decision, when Stevie Wonder could have read it as Pascoe instead re-inforcing the clubs stance on allowing him to negotiate with other clubs. I wonder if these some people will still give him credit for sorting out the mess as they were when he first started. Or does the proviso for him doing a good job mean to do what's in the best interest of Farah and to undermine JT?

No Pascoe backed the club and then said Farah was free to negotiate or stay
At no stage did he back Taylor personally (which is my main issue ) , the club and Taylor are separate entities
And this hasn't played out yet …....
Don't get ahead of yourselves boys and girls , we will see come Round 1 2016
Maybe the club will come and out and say Robbie's been a good little boy ............

Wests Tigers are a dysfunctional club run by amateurs and blaming everyone but themselves for the current state of affairs. Farah is a part of the problem in that he is overpriced and carries influence in the club. The weak coach and management team want him gone because they see him as a negative impact on their leadership and it is very obvious this negative influence does not extend to the playing group. I strongly believe the major issue we have is our coach in JT. He simply is not first grade standard and has a poor track record with players. He is a poor leader and Farah is an easy scapegoat.
This is a bad strategy by Pascoe who i'd hoped was smarter than this. Farah is in the top 3 players at WT every day of the week. He is a notorious hard trainer and a senior player who just won the NSW Blues Leadership Award. I don't understand how they are going to judge him over the off season and come to any other conclusion than he stays.
I believe this situation can't be repaired. Farah will play NSW cup and Taylor will be sacked after we lose our first 6 games. Either way I am dismayed how we have fallen so far. We are an embarrassment to Rugby League. I am not taking up the family season ticket this year as my kids who are under 10 are turning off the Tigers. Hopefully I can get them back into it in a few years time. Hate to be a fair weather fan but the Swans will get all my sports cash this year.

The method/process being used by the club leaves the door wide open for the degradation of the Wests Tigers brand. I am not sure if this could be handled any poorer. There are no winners here!

I pass on Halatau , he might be acceptable to some , but having a hooker than has a good pass will be crucial and making 40 tackles in the new game in 2016
