We are really strong though up the middle. Woods is one of the top props in the game and we won't lose much if anything when Ava and Felise come on.

If that's the case, why do we get easily rolled in the middle by **any** large pack?

The fact is that our forwards were dominant against Souths (twice), Broncos, Cowboys, Warriors and even Storm. Arguably Souths, Cowboys and Warriors have big intimidating forwards, so it is not true that we cannot play against **any** big pack.

In meters run, Woods is dominating NRL prop for the last 2 years.

Seumanufagai shall play more minutes, and can average 130 m per game.

Hopefully with Falise and Tatola (186/118), Paseka (197/120), Sokobalava (184/114)
we will have better depth.
Also, our 2nd rowers will be stronger with addition of Marsters (187/110), Giles (187/107), McCormack (197/104) etc.

Props:
Starting: Woods, Seumanufagai
Bench T Grant, Falise, Tatola/Paseka

2nd row
Starting Lawrence, Sue
Bench Aloiai

Lock Taylor/Griffin

:sign:

Our pack/ team was never consistent. They would have one great game then next week or two have a shocker. Not enough power in the engine. Pretty risky just to rely on the young blokes coming through.

1\. Tedesco
2\. Nofolouma
3\. Idris
4\. MCK
5\. Simona
6\. Moses
7\. Brooks
8\. Woods
9\. Ballin

Taken time off from the forum and I'm finally back!

Can't wait for the 2017 season as I'm quite confident our mighty Wests Tigers will turn many heads next year!

My starting 17 for the 2017 season would look like this:

1.James Tedesco
2\. David Nofolouma
3\. Tim Simona
4\. Jamal Idris- Will be an excellent signing, will be that intimidating force that we lack as a team and will create heaps of momentum that our forwards will feed of giving our talented little fullback and halves time and space to do what they do best!
5\. Kevin Naquinma- Still remember his first year here at the tigers, Nofo was injured and he was put at wing and made the spot his own played really well offered heaps in attack and his poor defensive reads which imo is his only weakness wasn't utilised as much and he did his job well defensivily.
6\. Mitch Moses- Hoping he continues his good form from this year
7\. Luke Brooks- Calling it now, will have a massive season I reckon a possibility of him playing Origin
8\. Aaron Woods
9\. Matt Ballin - Will do the job for 55-60 min
10\. Ava Seumanafagnai
11\. Suoaso Sue - I really rate Sue as an edge forward, showed glimpses of his line running late in the 2016 season scoring trys linking up off some nice balls from Moses and Woods, if he can continue running those good lines that hard close out from the try line he'll be very difficult to stop!
12\. Chris Lawrence
13\. Elijah Taylor

14\. Jacob Liddle- Should be that impact player for 20-25 mins
15\. JJ Felise
16\. Tim Grant
17\. Joah Alioia

Hoping players like Paseka and Marsters continue there good form and get a call up mid season!

Oh, I remember it well. He was good in attack, but was dreadful under the bomb.

I like Kev. He straightens the attack and can often beat his opposing centre one-on-one given some space, but I suspect he will be the on to drop out if we have a half-decent wing alternative. Or end up in England.

I like Kev in general. His offence is great. He can hit in defence. He is getting blamed for our defensive problems but I'm not sure it's his fault.

He was though pretty poor on the wing. Up went the high ball and if Kev was near it he dropped it. He has been much better at centre than on the wing. Maybe you can put Kev on the other side and play Simona on the wing but that might be tough.

Sorting out our backline is going to be difficult. It's a strength for us but Rankin shouldn't be in first grade and we need to sort out our defence.

Who is going to wing on left side next year? ?

Got any recommendations?

promote from within, charlie taylor or khawin

Still think we one short another back line acquisition need someone to either join simona or push him to wing. Ware or hiku type player.

True that. I'd like to see Simona back on the left wing & give Heleta/MCK a chance at left centre before we look to the market….although we probably don't have the $$ to anyway. Nofo & Idris will hopefully sure-up the right.

Would still like to see Sue & ET play on the edges. Given their strengths I think they'd make much more of an impact than Rowdy & Aloiai & would provide better support defensively to their outside men. Plus I think Aloiai would be stronger up the middle (his lateral movement is suspect) & Rowdy would hold his own at lock (great front-on defence).

Hope they really tear in during the pre-season. We need a big '17!

You keep players in their correct positions. If you start moving players around out of position you will run into trouble. Simona is a centre not a winger. The wing position is a Specialised Position built around quickness and speed and Experience as well as positioning defense, handling / catching, reading the game fluently / communicating, knowing when to get right back on the 5th tackle etc. It's the most intense position on the field and mistakes lead to tries. Thats why its a Specialised Position and you pick the right player for it. You can't coach speed and explosive quickness that's why your best wingers play there. That's why Simona is a centre. If he played there our edge would be an easy path for the opposition. Charlie Taylor should be the other winger with David Nofoaluma and then the centres would be Jamal Idris and Tim Simona. We have good forwards at the club as well. But who knows who is staying and going, it's a long off season for everyone

We do not agree on many thing Steve, but your right with Kev. He is not a winger and he is a very good attacking centre. He also maybe comes up with some bad reads in defence, but when he gets the read right he can tackle. As for his bad reads,he is not helped by the fact we are carrying a few players inside him who are basically speed humps.

Anyway sadly I expect he will be off to ESL,but I guess Idris has the potential to offer us more

I suppose you get it wrong a lot but at least you've got it right on Kev. One concern is that Idris can be an issue defensively as well. Yes he is big and can hit but he can be stood up as well.

Too many Sheensians on this forum
Simona is simply too good player to be wasted on a wing. :sign:

Except Simona had played there and in my opinion, was far better utilised and made far more impact. He should move back out there to make way for idris in my option.

1\. James Tedesco

5\. Jordan Rankin?
6\. Mitchell Moses

I'd rather switch Kev to the left centre and push Simona to the wing and give that a try first but if Kev is off to England then this is probably our best option. Wish Addo Carr didn't leave
