LIVE GAME Round 5 versus Eels

Live Game Discussion
Two massive plays by Sam Fainu today. Regathered the short drop out when were down to 12 men and really struggling. Regathered the short kick off when Parra had just kicked the penalty goal to go up by 2 points with 2 minutes to play. If he missed one of these I believe we would have lost.
Every week he has made a couple of those origin quality plays. If he continues his form he should be in the conversation for NSW

Saw that, but I can't for the life of me figure out what you complain to the ref about with losing a coin toss 🤷‍♂️
The guy hates losing to us and you can see he has tried to work the ref every time we play. He does it in most games but next level with us.

He is a sly bastard, he knows this ref will play the polite fake BS but probably not cop too much outright disrespect so he comes in trying to be reasonable, hand on the shoulder etc.... basically humiliates the ref with repetition but tries not to cross the line (saves that for da Silva). With the genuine morons he doesnt bother, he just yells at them until they crack or parra lose. Reminds me of the people at work who play office politics lol

Made no comments during the game tonight as I wanted to focus more closely. So now after time to digest it all, my thoughts are that resilience, fitness and a bit of luck were the key factors in our win.
Eels also had their fair share of luck with a few rulings and fortunate outcomes.
Similar to the Souths game we dominated large sections of this game but failed to score points when we really should have. This allowed the Eels to almost snatch a win.
Execution in A is fairly average and I believe will improve by mid season. Our ball movement oftens looks clunky and slow currently, with poor passing being the main cause. The ball is rarely out in front allowing the receiver to run onto it with pace. Our ptb speed is also often slow. Twal is the only starting middle running hard enough however our bench middles are making a big difference. Our edges are playing consistently well and this makes a massive improvement to our squad.
In D it’s obvious we have a real problem with our left side. Maka and LL are so out of their depth. Teams will start targeting them every week if we don’t make changes.
Finally, as much as he is a quality and valuable inclusion I say this every week, but AD is no halfback!

Ok, so every hip drop, high tackle, chicken wing, ankle grab, shoulder charge and whatever, if it causes an injury, gets escalated to a sin bin? This is despite the fact that the great majority of indiscretions don't cause serious injury. Simmonson's dislocated ankle came from an awkward landing which could also come from a variety of other different circumstances such as leaping and catching a bomb. Luke's action wasn't premediated or intended to be aggressive like other examples of foul play. It was involuntary but also, for Simmonson, unlucky. A punch to the face is not a good analogy Sirro. Totally different beause it's premeditated.
Moses got accidentally slapped in the face. It could have drawn blood. Sin bin?
What a shame no-one told our guys it was ok to accidentally punch Moses in the face.
