Harry Grant tried to get into the Storm bubble when he finished with WT but couldn’t. Anyone know why?
I’ve always been of the opinion that Cameron Smith will play another season in which case we get Harry for another season.
I could be reading too much into this? However, in a joint pre GF presser during Bellamy’s praising of Smith he declared, what makes him so great is his stats..nobody has played for so long etc. Bellamy fell short of asking the rhetorical question, “why wouldn’t he want to put those stats well and truly out of reach. Sure it looks bad when a player plays a season too long but much worse when a coach coaches a season too long?

Think we will make a long term Grant signing if we miss JAC.
Liddle will go to Dogs

how can the dogs sign
JAC
Burton
Crichton
Yeo

do we just hold off for 2022 and sign a Yeo, but will he be as good outside of Penrith system.

how can the dogs get all these players and we come up with duck egg every time

Gus said Yeo will be a life time Panther. Have things changed out west?

No just the article mentioning dogs looking at all those players as potential signings
Do think Dogs will sign Liddle

We're going to be short in the hooking role unless the Club has arrangements in hand?

We would only have Grant, Simpkin and who knows after that would need to sign another back up that would be from 2022 who knows maybe a Danny Levi or something
Liddle deserves good money that dogs would give him, thinking is we have simpkin coming through on low contract who would be great with say Harry

Just keeping financial so that there is no burden on the group .. no one will tell me there is any desire from the board to be successful the feeling of mediocrity is rife at the club ,the constant non achievement has not in any respect been addressed hence what nearly a decade of non achievement.. if an entity wants to change the culture they enact systems to achieve this . Hence why other clubs are on the up and the Tigers just make up the numbers ... someone prove me wrong .

Russell you make many good points but what concerns me is that he brought in 6 of his own players this season and yet we went backwards. As for his time at south’s it is well known in football circles that players spoke to him about being flogged at training. But I’m happy to give him next season and I hope we can improve I want the club to be successful

He bought and extended cheap players because there was very little salary cap and you need 30 players in the squad. That is a very important point that you are conveniently ignoring.

Mate Doueihi on 500/600 a season
Joey L on the same that’s cheap in your opinion your the one making excuses for Maguire

Doueihi is a very good player and I have no problem with his contract especially if he plays in the halves.

Paws I agree with you totally don’t have a problem with the player or what he is earning.

If we can unearth a few players like him from the lower grades, we will be well on the way to being a force in the NRL. I watched him play 7 in SG Ball and he always had the ability. Suli, Seyfarth and Papenhuyzen were the same as Doueihi.

Yes I also think he will be good at 7, i did see somewhere
that he said in the halves was he’s preferred position

Angus Chrichton anyone?

The Roosters pursuit of teenage sensation Jopseh Suaalii could see them lose Origin second-rower Angus Crichton as the club begin shedding salary cap space to secure the Rabbitohs junior.
The Daily Telegraph report Suaalii has knocked back a $2 million offer from South Sydney, where he's played his junior rugby league, and is on the radar of fierce rivals the Roosters, who have offered a long-term deal.
Suaali is under contract at Redfern until the end of next year and would need to gain a release if he decides to shift to another club.
While the Rabbitohs are expected to play hardball with their arch-rivals, the Roosters now appear in the box seat for Suaalli's signature, despite Rugby Australia also making an approach with a lucrative offer.
Channel Nine's Danny Weidler told Sky Sports Racing's Big Sports Breakfast the Roosters are the club Suaalii is favouring, but said last year's premiers had "issues" with their roster that needed solving first.

The Roosters have already begun a minor clean-out with the release of Kyle Flanagan and Poasa Fa'amausili on Tuesday.
However, Weidler suggests it could see them also let go of big-money forward Crichton as the club looks to lock up Jake Friend and the Morris twins, as well as Suaalii, in the coming weeks.
"The Roosters are in the process of making room to try and secure Suaalli. I think Kyle Flanagan is a part of that," Weidler said.
"They've got issues, they've got to secure the Morris's, they haven't announced them as re-signings yet; Jake Friend, I think he's got a deal there but they haven't registered that either.. they also want to get Suaalii.

https://www.sportingnews.com/au/league/news/joseph-suaalii-sydney-roosters-south-sydney-rabbitohs-angus-crichton/1d1t10x9jhlq710v4itqs3ms3a?fbclid=IwAR2VSzRFlw-D0czPpC4pwPd4axF8JyjtJIPjoGn5HK6t2bU_jTR0Vaj_f4M

Well Crichton would be an upgrade on Garner I guess if true

I'd take crichton. he'd add some dynamics to our forward pack.

A definite yes, if the price is right.

What would your price be on Crichton ?

what's his contract at the moment? 1 mill? I'd pay in 500k for him with roosters paying the rest

Yeah he’s on 1 Mill
Who’d you rather drop 1Mill on ?
Addo Carr or Crichton?

??? our forward pack needs an upgrade....our backs need an upgrade....

If it came down to giving up Nof or Tommy to get JAC then i would rather drop the cash on Crichton because we lose nothing and get a current origin player for half price.
But at full freight no clauses or hang ups? JAC. I think he would add more to the locker room than crichton and that is intangible but hugely necessary....good locker room means improved results on the pitch.

And that’s the issue ...
The club and the fans are ingrained with mediocrity..
We can’t trade Tommy Treadmill for a current Origin and Test flyer ..
Nofo can’t even make Freddys train on squad .
Crichton is pretty average .. I’d pass on him

Spot on
the issue is as a fanbase and club we are happy with the players we have and finish 9th or worse
GET BETTER PLAYERS
Tommy may be a star but we have let Paps go and Tommy will not be a Paps ***sometimes we need to sacrifice a player or two to upgrade***
I like Nofo I just hope we do not get in a bidding war with him next, don't think we will as the guy likes the club and all but we need a big signing from somewhere and JAC was probably it unfortunately

Hard to sacrifice a player if he’s contracted and doesn’t want to go anywhere ?‍♂️

True we missed the boat on the talau swap unfortunately but Mommo didn't have a problem with a swap. Maybe it should have been put to tommy from our coaching staff you will not see first grade in 2021 and see if he would have gone thats all

If our coaching staff put that to a young player, they should all be sacked.

Well it seems to be ok that Reynolds didn't see much first grade or Hoffman or Jennings etc.
it probably shouldn't be put to talau as you will not see first grade in 2021 but maybe with Momorovski coming back it might be tough to hold a spot in first grade for 2021 and with that he may have headed to storm for opportunity for 2021

I tend to agree with both comments and we have had a disjointed board and not much direction but this has changed over the past 2 years.

On 2nd October 2020 the Amalgamation of Wests Ashfield Leagues Club and Balmain Tigers Leagues Club was cemented. As per the Deed of Amalgamation, this changed the ownership structure of the club to effectively be 90% Wests Ashfield, 10% Balmain Tigers.

They certainly want the Club to be more competitive and i think we are still in a waiting game until the COE is completed late next year. This will also co-inside with having some salary cap money to finally spend in 2022, unless we off load prior.

All this speculation for 2021 on whom we acquire really means nothing until we can complement by having a few good signings or retaining performing players.

For now i am going ti trust in Hartigan/Madge that we don't pay overs and happily not sign anyone until everything is sorted with Harry Grant and what smith does.

If we get JAC which is doubtful now would be a bonus.

Once you learn patience your options suddenly expand.

I have no problem if JAC does not sign with us. He has a very good contract in front of him and if he wants to stuff around he can go the Latrell way. For me our priorities are a established (not manufactured) fullback and a quality lock forward.
If we have to wait until 2022 so be it but let’s not waste money on wingers.

Talau will be a fine player. He just needs to work hard like Papenhuyzen. He should have first crack at right centre but needs to train the house down on speed, agility and passing. No point trading a fine player when JAC is a compassionate release. It doesn't sound overly compassionate to require a player trade.

One other matter, Talau needs a genuine speedster outside of him. No coincidence the GF teams had specialist wingers.

He's a genuine centre. I believe he was carrying an injury for most of the year. If he works with a professional athletics company, he puts on a few yards of pace which makes all the difference. But, he must have speed outside of him. No use being able to make breaks unless your winger has the pace to go the 100 if required.
