If a person works for ANZ and gets an offer from Westpac for the exact same position, but for $20,000 a year more with absolutely everything being the same excluding the pay of course, would we expect that person to remain at ANZ out of 'loyalty' to ANZ?

Loyalty is a word that definitely needs to be removed from fans' vocabulary.

Eisenhuth staying with us would be great, but if he has a better offer and doesn't take it well frankly he'd be a moron.

Disagree. Do you think slater or smith would move to another club for money…they would die for melbourne. Its being loyal and passionate

Depends on the money on offer. Say Melbourne offer Smith $1m a year for 3 years and Brisbane offer Smith $1.5m a year for 3 years, what deal would he take?

I still think Smith would take the Melbourne deal. I can't imagine Smith or Slater ever leaving the Storm. It shows loyalty still is a thing within sports.

Playing with a team that wins frequently and is competitive _all_ of the time helps too.

The REAL reason Robbie's unlikely to remain

The other day I wrote that Robbie Farah is unlikely to be at Souths next year - despite having a year to run on his contract.

And over the last few days, I found out the REAL reason why.

It seems - shock, horror - Souths players aren’t big fans of the controversial former Tigers hooker.

I’m hearing that senior players - especially playmakers Adam Reynolds and John Sutton - have complained to coach Michael Maguire about Farah’s style on the field.

They say he won’t listen to their calls for the ball and often goes it alone in the other direction, resulting in a breakdown in the team’s set moves.

It’s because of all this that the Rabbitohs are unlikely to stand in Farah’s way if he asks for a release at season’s end.

Souff's could pay us for a 1 year swansong…

BBF will be beside himself!

Salary cap is very tight next year and having to take full weight of Farah's contract'

Sutton at 33 wanting another contract but if Farah stays its goodbye to a useless mouth

If we don't have to pay a cent, than I would take Farah back.

Imagine if Benji came back as well…

Hopefully he can come back and get a role at the club once he retires.

Him & Benji took unders to stay at the club and keep it under the cap.

Watched alot of Souths games this year and while there is probably some truth in what Reynolds and Sutton are eluding to, it doesnt explain why those two players have been so ordinary when Farah is not on the field. Reynolds has no creativity what so ever, rarely runs the ball and if his kicking game is off - offers very little. Sutton is scrambling to get another contract for next year.
Farah paying the penalty for his reputation- . got to wear it.

I truly doubt that.
Farah took less a few years ago to help keep some at Tigers but the end result was a heavily backended contract, the result of which we are witnessing now.

Benji was given a verbal figure by our previous CEO that did not get final board approval with the result of Benji throwing a tantrum, signing with NZRU, parading in a RU jersey while still playing for the Wests Tigers and ending up in the Qld Cup.

Frankly I don't want either of them back here, in any capacity.

Reminiscing about some great Tigers players of the past is one thing but lets get real - this is a business. We are here to be competitive and to build a stable future both on the field and off it. 2018 is looking good in my opinion and I don't think the recruitment drive has finished. We will be strong next year but hopefully that will be without Benji and Farah.

So we saying sporting news is a credible source now. Or are they only not credible when they report on us.

I can't speak for others, but my eyes agree on this one, though I know nothing about conversation with their coach.

He has started most of their games, played more minutes then Damien cook. So if their was as big an issue with him and the playmakers you'd wonder why the coach kept playing him?

What a mess the ARU has gotten themselves into! Certainly gives pause to why the NRL isn't aggressively expanding, not just the history, but the potential legal ramifications if you try to cut a club with legal/financial backing.

I personally don't care, Rugby's demise is League's gain - Rugby had it all in the early 2000s and they squandered it with poor decision making and lack of investment in grass-roots.

Time for all those Sydney snobs who follow kick-and-clap to take on the superior rugby code!

Also don't take back Robbie Farah please, it would make a mockery of all the pain the club went through last year. It's not going to happen anyway, Clearly doesn't strike me as a coach who looks back.

I agree with most Forum member's comments that the club has moved on so a big "NO" from me to bring back Farah and Marshall in a playing capacity.

Happy to see Marshall in a PR capacity as I believe his reputation and pulling power is much better than Farah's. Marshall at his best brings back so many memories.

I hope Curtis Rona joins the bus.

Still like us to sign someone like Tagetese, a player with NRL experience looking for more minutes.

Robbie has a contract next year. Let's enjoy Souths discomfort in either having to take the full weight or paying the full weight for another club to use him.

Load of crap. They saying the RLPA want to get the best deal for the players, fans and clubs? more like only the players Please. If the nrl backs down and allows a 10 mill cap then some clubs will be in financial trouble in the next few years. Jeez i wish the nrl grew a pair and tell them this is the way it is.

So, if Brooks doesn't work out next year, how do people feel about Kane Elgey? He comes off-contract at the end of 2018\. He's quite inexperienced but, he's shown some good signs over the past couple of seasons. I don't know, just think he might be a bit more capable at controlling games.
