Knowing this club, I bet they flew to Brisbane today and signed Isaako but are now all sitting around trying to work out why he spells his name M-i-l-f-o-r-d.

It’s okay we can always nab Benji as a backup

They signed him as well thinking he was Cooper Cronk coming out of retirement.

I think I’d still take Cronk, looks fit enough. Nowhere to hide in our D line though.

We would try and sign him though and give the contract to Anasta to sign instead

Unlike you to sound so disgruntled with the club mate, thought you were one of the more staunch guys backing the regime.

If Anasta comes anywhere near Concord again I’m out, I’d go for manly before supporting that imposter.

To be honest, just a bit grumpy tonight lol. While ever Hartigan is here I believe we can recruit our way out of the mess others have created.

Know the feelin, interested in your take on today’s rumours? Club still can’t keep secrets and chasing a couple of enigmatic cellar dwellers.

I expect we hear an announcement about Isaako in the coming week or so. To fly up there a couple of days after being up there says to me that something is very close.

I'm ok with Isaako as a winger.

Same. I could see TPJ being our Russell Packer once Madge moves on.

TPJ is a bit more of a gamble, he does have the one thing we really lack which is impact. I think that has been one of our biggest problems this season, though Mikaele has been showing signs of life in that area lately. The teams doing well have forwards that can cause disruption to the defensive line and then get a quick play the ball. We are lacking in that area so can see the attraction that TPJ has to some people.

Agree Mikaele is on the improve. I’d rather gamble on our young brigade than what I assume would be a guy on top dollar.

Tuilagi seems to have that bit of impact about him, but it is an area we are very light in.

To me with TPJ it would all come down to the one aspect I have no access to and it would be the conversations during negotiations. Its whether he has the traits to overcome is inconsistencies, what he brings to the team in other areas, is he the type of personality that fits the team and environment we are trying to create and foster. Those answer can only be found by getting to know the guy as it is undeniable that he has talent. Its whether that talent can be harnessed

To me we are at an interesting juncture. In around 2014 the Sharks brought in Luke Lewis and Wade Graham and completely turned around their footy club. Two guys like that to teach our young guys the ropes is what I would love to see personally. Easier said than done.

Lewis was incredibly close to being here instead.

What we are lacking currently is the damaging forward. We have the toilers and the leaders. I actually think Tamou is having a huge effect behind the scenes, does need to improve his game though.

I like our toilers. Our current backrowers aren’t up to scratch, both have a bit of x-factor but can’t tackle and aren’t really damaging. I’d rather forego damaging and just have trustworthy.

I like our toilers too, we just need to add a bit of variety to that. A couple of players that hit the line hard will make a big difference.

Luciano was much better last weekend and benefitted from getting better ball from Mbye than he has from AD. I have seen his lapses in defence that you have pointed out but he is much better defending away from his brother

Some big calls have to be made on who we keep, and who we let go. Are the following really going to take us forward?
Mbye-- TT--- jtj -- JL--- Cini either are not 1st gde standard or inconsistent. If we percervere with average we will not improve.

But these five players are not the same.

Mbye is clearly too expensive - even if he is an ok first grade player he is absolutely killing a salary cap at $900k a year. That's the kind of contract you should only be giving to a nailed on star player; it's totally unsustainable for a utility. He has to go as soon as possible for any reasonable offer.

Roberts was a gamble that hasn't paid off. He's no longer first grade standard and he'll be gone at end of season if not before, but at least he's cheap.

Leilua was a gamble that also didn't pay off, though arguably it wasn't as bad as some have made it out to be. He's not on vast money and he's been ok at times, but when he's bad he's unplayable and presumably will be gone at season end.

Talau and Cini are young with room to improve, and more importantly they are CHEAP. All they really cost is a roster spot and it's not as if we have guys breaking down the door to be 29th and 30th man on our list. There's absolutely no reason to get rid of either of them unless we're absolutely convinced they are not up to standard.

I think both TT and Cini do not have the speed required to play in the backline. Slow players are soon found out by opposing coaches.

Disagree! While speed is great it’s not everything, we had the jet in our team
And he achieved nothing for us. Put Saab in this team and he would be nothing, still hasn’t done much in the manly team, he’s effective when there’s no one around him, other wise nothing special. Talau is a much better winger, breaks tackles and great finisher in a weak Team that has barely used its edges.

Idk why he gets as much shit as he does in this group, kids played about 20 games, has one of the best try scoring strike rates for us, solid in defence and great in attack. He’s only going to get better! But you don’t rate him till he goes and kills It with another club. Remember Melbourne wanted him, so bellemy can see the talent too. Besides some of the more talented edges aren’t quick, manu, herbi, don, Momo, naden and many more.

Doesn’t mean we can’t get them sprint coaches and see if we can improve the start off.

If they do not have sprint coaches now working with AD and TT , i would be shocked, as for the payers mentioned i doubt any would not beat TT over 50m. Watch how he goes against the warriors, they know he can't catch and is slow, they will target him.His future is in the forwards.

They would target him because he is the rookie in the backline, I think he’s dropped 2 high balls in 20 games lol he’s not as slow as people give him shit for. He won’t be in the forwards for another 5-6 + years lol also we will never know about the sprint coaches. Talau is in our best team every week. Hence him and nofa being the only ones not being dropped this year.

If only they succeed, a big bunger in the forwards and a rocket on the wing . Nothing is ever certain, but if it works it could be the big turning point for the side.

Any news on Gebbie

Played 1 game for Magpies and was average Fitzgibbon and Cooper are better choices at the moment

Bloke walked half way across Papua New Guinea to take Hartigans phone call, gotta be worth more than a game in twos.

And if anyone has ever trekked across the Owen Stanley Range and back the toll it takes physically and psychologically is enormous. The driest pair of socks you have on the track are those you wring out the hardest.

If we sign these two, ( x fingers) i see Laurie at FB. Isako and Nuffa on the wings, the Pom and AD as centres, Brooks and Hastings as halves, and Pangi as lock.

I can here the cries now !

I admire the determination to sign both players. I don't agree with all the publicity. It's on 7 News this morning as a raid We should have asked the Army if we can use the SAS or the US Army for Delta Force and Chuck Norris. This has the potential for an own goal if the mission is unsuccessful.

They just happened to get spotted on the plane and the journalists did their digging. It's a shame because if it's a first meeting it's probably a good chance of a discussion and the players saying they'll think about it but nothing comes of it

Of course as you said the media will go bananas if we don't sign them.

The expectations on him are ridiculous.

He hasn’t trained with a rugby league team for 18 months, and came here injured. Oh and he barely speaks English. I was surprised he was put straight into NSW cup.

Needs at least a year before he’ll be ready, if he ever is.

Reading from the bottom (2021) upwards (2020 ect) , shows that he runs more meters than any of our forwards.

Now watch people attack this and say look how many missed tackles haha.

Twal has more running metres than him

Twal is one of my favourites, but he offloads maybe twice a game. This guy is the 2nd best in the game, and up there with Tama and Papali as a metre eater.

Get serious !

Twal offloads twice a game? Try twice in his career.

Yeah it’s fairly obvious he deliberately doesn’t offload. Initially I thought he was coached to do that, but he’s been the same regardless of coach.

how typical would it be of Wests Tigers to send our big 3 football department personalities up to Brissy and come back with sweet nothing. hope it doesn't happen, but you couldn't help but laugh if it did.

as a few have said though, we wouldn't fly up to Brisbane if a deal wasn't close after magic round.

Walters for Isaako
M'Bye for TPJ

You look at other clubs ...they use the faces of their clubs to get deals over the line ......Roosters had Uncle Nick spend the month getting Walker over the line ...Titans used Meninga and Tallis to help get Tino and Fifita over the line ....take Robbie up their for a face
