Releasing Brooks with our roster would be extremely poor roster management

Why?
It’s our roster that’s been holding him back according to his fan club.

I am no way a Brooks defender, I speaking squarely about the balance of the squad, after releasing Mbye there just isn't enough depth in the halves to release Brooks.

If Hastings takes off as expected you would think both he and Doueihi will end up as our halves pairing.... especially if, as reported, Brooks is off Maguire.
Another $800,000 halfback in reserve grade doesn't help the roster either.
Surely we could spend that money better elsewhere.

We can't spend the money we have now, so freeing up cap space isn't a priority. I don't know who expects Hastings to take off and AD still has a lot to work in as a 6 and is coming back from an ACL. There are large questions over the halves and we are already short on depth. I wouldn't be releasing any of the halves.

I view it more as an opportunity to get rid of a bad contract. If he’s agitating for a release, let him go. Best for all parties.

It is if there’s someone better to replace him now. Because he’s a bit of an unknown at nrl level again, I would prefer Hastings turn up and earn his spot first (even if it means out training him in preseason). I would wait as long as possible into preseason to release him if we still have a couple of roster spots available. Releasing him now only benefits his new team. I would think tigers hold the cards if brooks wants out (if it’s true).

Let’s face it, 2022 is going to be a bad year. If we have the opportunity to get rid of Brooks contract and recruit a good halfback for 2023, we should take it. It’s good business to get rid of him now when there is some interest.

He’s a bog average halfback on very good money. We should be jumping at the chance to get rid of him.

If douehi wasn’t injured id probably agree straight up. . Im hesitant to release him without a proven first grade (albeit average) half at all. All our cards are on Hastings then.

He's a work in progress at best. The ACL recovery is really going to hurt that development.

One thing for sure is they didn’t sign him to play reserve grade.

One thing for sure is they didn’t sign him to play reserve grade.

Tigers need forwards. Atm we have the worst roster and we cant expect much. We are a bottom 4 team with our forward Pack and backline ie centres. Its pretty obvious and the Elephant in the room. We cant only try our best with what we have. We would go ok with our cattle in the State Cup. But hey its our team. Can only back them and hope we get some cattle in the near future. Its what we are Building towards.

Hopefully our new assistant coaches will inspire some real spirit and heart into our players. If Madge stops bullying the players and turning them off performing that would also obviously be a real bonus.

If Brooks were to leave I think it would be good for both him and the club , and if the rumour he is not happy under our coach he is already done at our club , Maguire won’t cop it and Brooks will be in reserve grade , Hastings and Peach could start in the haves until Adam is back and go from there , we need a centre and Curtis Scott would be ok , Thompson from dogs to bulk us up and a back rower along with Hodgson at hooker we would be ok

I believe he has some family members that would like him to leave but Brooks himself is hesitant to leave.

Why is that not a surprise. The Tigers don't require Brooks to perform to NRL standard or try to improve as a player to stay in first grade.

If Brooks left he'd be accountable for the first time in his career
