Is Dockar-Clay still at the club?

He is not an option for the top grade.

Tad harsh.
Never say never and all that ...
If he’s still with us (at the club), he’d be fifth choice halfback and fourth choice hooker, by my reckoning.

If we dont want Brooks in 2023, he needs to go now.

I'd rather see us building for 2023, than trying to win a few extra games next year.

Again, nothing to suggest we don’t want him for 2023. If we don’t though, there’s reasons why you would keep him on. The main one being we’re already forking out money for Mbye to play elsewhere, so if we paid for Brooks as well, that would be close to a million dollars of the cap on two players playing at other clubs. Also, as @cochise pointed out, we have no depth in the halves whatsoever, and Doueihi is gone for the foreseeable future. That would pin everything on Hastings and Madden, and that would not be smart.

Absolutely, I agree it isn't smart.

But with the continuing controversy regarding Brooks playing ability, unrelenting bashing from Tigers fans and media, player of the year award?? Rumours that he's not happy playing with Madge. It never let's up! Can't be healthy for Brooks, or the club.

If there's any way we can move him on, even if not ideal.....

None of that matters in the greater scheme of things. Why should Brooks be punished if a few supporters don’t like him and newspapers target him?

Yes, he is not. But how is Madden an option given ZDC was 3 classes above him last year in reggies?

You just can't go into 2023 with a Hastings Madden combo, in my opinion we could afford to release either Mbye or Brooks, not both. We made our decision.

If Brooks was to leave (don't think he will), I'd have thought they'd go 6. Peachey, 7. Hastings rather than Madden + Hastings.

If you go into a season with Peachy as your first choice 5/8, you have problems.

Fair enough, I disagree.

Hastings is an unknown quantity but either option would probably be among the worst halves pairings in the comp in any case.

Definitely not ideal.

Doueihi's injury hurts a lot.

Hastings may well be an unknown quantity but Brooks is a proven dud.
Who’s to know what might happen or who would be available if we can punt him?

I'd probably live with starting the year with Peachey and Hastings in the halves, with Doueihi there when he's back from injury if it means Brooks is gone.

Would be better if they could sign someone to replace him though.

Anyway, I doubt they'll get rid of him.

There just isn't enough depth in the halves to get rid of him.

If Brooks wants to go, grant him the release. The club has supported Madge as coach, if Brooks is not 110 percent behind the coach, time for him to go. Let’s be honest, 2022 is a lost cause anyway and mainly another year of development for our youth. We should recruit smartly for 2023 come November 1.

Whats with this idea Hastings isn't good enough to be halfback and that he's going to be our worst signing ever ? I understand brooks has his followers who will follow him blindly off a cliff but he is clearly not up to scratch in halfback or in captaincy but yet a lot of people won't give a bloke who is a vocal leader who will win at all costs a shot cause "if he was really that good he wouldn't be in England" sure England isnt the nrl but it also isn't group 7 3rd division either now im not saying Hastings is going to be joey johns but what I am is give the bloke a chance he wants to come here to lead us out of this mess we are in which is alot more than we saw from brooks and a number of other players this season

I'm willing to give him a chance but I am not willing to bet the season on a Hastings/ Madden or Hastings/ Peachey combo.
